Colorado's problems run deep. I do not know that they will ever be solved without cleaning out the entire administration, but, we'll see if Bohn's successor can instill some respect and respectability into CU's athletics. Meanwhile, Mike McIntyre has a job ahead of him.
Speculatively, I'd say borrow from Barry Alvarez. Build the program, schedule OOC LSOPs early, try to win some conference games. Then, since you don't have Wiscy fans, promote attendance by selling discounted packages, giving season ticket subscribers the best seats, host "pick your seats" days to boost season and packaged ticket sales, try negotiating an allocation of tickets for inclusion in travel & convention packages, advanced single-game group sales, and create game-day promotions to sell deeply discounted single tix. Use the band. Call in all favors from celebrity alums for promotion. Get butts in the seats. Fans may actually develop...
The SEC expanded, adding two teams, one to each division. this necessitated reconfiguring the conference schedule, which required changes to the member schools' team schedules, which required renegotiating or cancelling some existing arrangements, all of which left gaping holes in odd places throughout SEC teams' schedules. We are all aware that CFB schedules are made years in advance, so the SEC teams were faced with difficulty finding opponents available on their open dates with such short notice. Still, being SEC teams with football cathedrals on campus, their best opportunities for success were with LSOPs willing to juggle their own schedules for a paycheck game. It will take a few years for the ripples from the latest SEC expansion to smooth out. By then, schedules of SEC teams should be shaping up. Expect to see some home & aways and/or special site meetings with B1G, PAC, B12-2, and ACC teams displacing some of the LSOP one-off home cash games.
No, pachy, the Bama "water fall" is recycled gray water from stage 2 of the campus sewage treatment facility. It's not an "ark," and those aren't "animals."
