Since when has the salary cap applied to Philly?
Posted Thursday June 13, 2013, About: Crucial summer for Shero
Crosby being served on a platter to the Penguins is the dumbest rumor that still permeates the NHL faithful. Why would a once-in-a-generation player be mandated for Pittsburgh? Why not the Habs? Toronto? New York? Think about it!!! And Craig Patrick traded up for Fleury. He is not a Shero draft pick.

Don't underrate Shero. There is a reason why he is up for GM of the year...while Joe Nieuwendyk got fired.

While everyone is entitled to their opinion, I disagree. Emerick is the best play by play guy in hockey!
Posted Tuesday March 26, 2013, About: Ovechkin was 'almost in the toilet'
Ovie is too good of a player to have stayed at this level for the rest of his career. He has too much talent.

That said, lets pump the brakes here. While his current tear is impressive, the vast majority of his goals are coming from the left faceoff circle. Amazing that no defenseman just sticks to him or at least that area. In addition, Ovie is still ovie. He still stands flat footed at times, he doesn't muck and grind for the puck along the boards, he floats along the blueline in the D zone, and still leaves his feet when he checks. Basically, if he isn;t scoring, he brings nothing to his team. Sorry, but you cannot count Ovie as a top 5, maybe even top 10 player in the NHL.
Posted Friday March 22, 2013, About: Hartnell takes considerable heat in Philly
When he was in Nashville, he was gritty, but nothing like the absolute idiot thug that he has become in Philly. It's like this organiztion turns players into imbeciles, though a bit less so since Lavy took over the bench.

Look at Eric Lindros. He was a skilled, finesse player in juniors and the Flyers turned him into a thug, albeit a darn good hockey player thug. While in the end, he brought it upon himself, but I blame the Flyers, at least in part, for why Eric Lindros' career was cut short.

Until they sever ALL tied with Bobby Clarke, nothing will change.

Though, I think all big ticket guys will be going to Philly.
Posted Thursday March 21, 2013, About: The worst trade deadline ever
Call me crazy, but I can't wait for the deadline. I'll have's "Trade Tracker" up on my computer all day!
Posted Monday March 18, 2013, About: Will Penguins pull trigger on big deal?
Surprised tthat the Flyers weren't mentioned too.

While the Penguins don't really need more scoring, Iginla would help the Penguins as far grit, forechecking and winning battles along the boards. Plus he will hit the oppsing team's D. I would think that the Penguins would be loathe to break up the Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis line. Maybe move Iginla to Malkin's line if that trade comes to fruition.

The Pneguins need a top pairing D man who can clear the front of the net, more than they do another forward.
Posted Friday March 15, 2013, About: Realignment's biggest losers
Clearly the NHL kept Columbus' survival in mind with this realignment. Being a Pens fan (yes, I'm all about full and fair disclosure), I not only love keeping the old Patrick Division rivals, but having Columbus in the mix is great as well. I could see the Pens and the BJax developing a heated rivalry, which C-Bus needs. I know that some people thought that Detroit was their rival, but I would say that Detroit hates Chicago and doesn't give CBus much of a thought. From a Pittsburgh and Columbus perspective, this realignment is a good thing!
Posted Thursday March 14, 2013, About: Brady likely not thrilled by move
Amen. With all due respect to Patriot fans, nobody else cares. Actually, everyone else is pretty sick and tired of Brady, Belichick and the Pats in general. I can't recall any other team that is shoved down our collective throats more!

That being said, Danny Amendola will cause Brady get over Welker's jettison pretty quickly.
Posted Wednesday March 13, 2013, About: Crosby in Mario, Gretzky territory
This article has to torch the underside of Flyer Fan. They just cannot appreciate how exciting this kid is to watch play (kinda like how I was with Ovechkin...but for different reasons).

As the great Mike Emerick put it, they have roster envy.
Posted Wednesday March 13, 2013, About: Tortorella rips into Rangers
I concur with Golden Bay. Tort's schtick has grown tiresome. Not even Claude Julien, whom I deeply respect as a coach, or the Ottawa contingency whines like JT. Unprepared? Stinking when they can least afford to stink...and with that talent? Maybe it's time to look in the mirror you Barry Melrose wannabe. It's time to quit living off the Cup win witn the Bolts.

I import it or boil it in my basement!
Posted Monday March 11, 2013, About: Philadelphia a possibility for Perry
I agree with Spiny. Is it me, or does Philly seem to be the only team unaffected by the salary cap? They are still paying Pronger, but also have big money deals with Hartnell, Briere, Giroux, Timmonen and Bryzgalov. Yet every time a big name FA is bound to leave his crrent team, Philly is the 1st team to pop up as a possible destination. How is that possible?
