Posted Sunday January 20, 2013, About: Greg Oden to sign soon, but won't play until next season
Any team dumb enough to give Oden a contract deserves what it gets. Big men plus knee trouble should be avoided like the plague. Look at Amare, look at Bynum, look at Oden. The man is a bust. I feel bad for him, especially when he's always compared to Kevin Durant with the Blazers foolishly picking him instead of KD, resulting in a couple of fired GMs already (ironically Rich Cho was the Assistant GM of the Sonics when they picked KD), but bottom line, he's brought nothing but pain in wasted opportunities, salary paid, and salary cap for the Blazers. Other than a great half a season, Amare has been a $100 million disappointment for the Knicks, likely a bust given the roughly $70+ million still owed to him and years more under contract counting against the Knicks' cap. And look at Bynum. Any Laker fan could have told the Sixers they were playing with fire. $16 million in the final year of his contract, not a single game played with the Sixers, the team totally tanking compared to last year, trading away Iguodala and getting back Drew warming the bench 'cause he won't give up bowling. Then they'll likely lose him to free agency in the summer, adding injury to injury. Yeah Oden, what a great prospect he'll turn out to be.
Posted Sunday January 20, 2013, About: Some Suns players want Dan Majerle for coach
Majerle would be good to coach this team and he's still got his reflexes. Check out his catch of the flyball at the park while holding a hotdog during a Diamondbacks game. He wasn't the most athletically gifted of players, but he was one of the smartest, using his head in making plays when outmatched physically. Also one of the great shooters in franchise history. Shows he's got great discipline and work ethic. The Suns' season is tanked anyway and they need a lot more talent. But they can start winning a few games here and there just with better coaching and a new, positive coach coming from the sidelines. Give Dan a chance and see if he can make the big jump. If not, then find an experienced coach in the off-season but it's a no-risk proposition to have Dan coach in the meantime.
Posted Sunday January 20, 2013, About: Dwyane Wade, Erik Spoelstra work past 'family moment' spat
The bench with LeBron played way better in the Utah game than with the rest of the starters. If not for the bench the Heat wouldn't even have come back from 19 down with a chance to win it. Wade was terrible in that game. Spo was right to bench him and Wade needs the rest anyway. If he can't do what's right for the team and care more about his ego then the Heat are going to have an extremely tough time attempting to repeat come playoff time.
