Goaltending can be called relatively easy because at least the refs have only one thing to look at. Here however the refs first have to decided whether it is a charge or not and then have to decide whether it was in this 'unmarked zone'. IMO this pretty much makes it impossible to call this with any accuracy.
Not that charging calls are made 100% correctly right now, we all know that flopping is a problem and that all too often the refs fall for it. However I think the new rule will only make it more confusing instead of helping to make things more clear.
I think, or hope, that the Post got it right because really the only way this trade makes any sense is if the Nationals are planning to use Nyjer and Burnett as parts of future trades.
As for his first throws being off target....who cares at this point? The bigger issue should be what their O-line looks like because if they play as bad as the last couple of years it won't matter who the Lions have under center because no matter who it is he will have to run for his live 90% of the time.
The Colts just released Marvin Harrison because of cap issues and because they didn't want to spend premium money on an aging receiver. So why on earth would they sign TO? True, he might be a bit cheaper than Harrison, but not that much. Also the Colts HAVE a #1 receiver in Reggie Wayne. Do you honestly think TO would settle for #2 or #3?
Trust me, the Colts will select a WR in the draft to address their needs.
Also Indy has nowhere near enough cap space to sign TO. They will most likely draft a WR in round 1 or 2.
1. Randy Moss has caused his share of problems but compared to TO he is a sweet little child.
2. When the Pats acquired Moss they were running a well oiled machine. Owner, GM, coaches and players were an established unit and there was no chance for Moss to stand up to that. In KC Pioli is squat in the middle of rebuilding an organization, he is only just beginning to implement the kind of system he wants to have and let's face it: TO isn't exactly the kind of guy you would want to build your franchise around.
The Raiders might be an option but somehow I don't think TO would want to play for a team as lousy as the Raiders are right now.....they may be the only takers though.
HOWEVER if what happened at Indiana had happened at any smaller school the NCAA would have banned them from postseason play and much more. Yet Indiana gets away with self-administered sanctions.....
