Think how bad ND would be if Charlie wasn't schematically superior to all the college coaches he now faces as the ND head coach (or so he claimed he would be upon taking the job...)

He makes Bob Davie look good - and they share the same stellar 4 year win/loss record too.

How is it that Jabba the Hut could win with Tyrone's players but can't do smack with his own top 5 recruiting classes?

I for one would love to see more opportunities made available to black coaches to lead college football programs. But the head coaching fraternity does remain a bit of a good-old-boy network and, sadly, boosters who are predominately white help to exacerbate this problem through their external pressure on ADs and college presidents regarding new hires. In this short reply forum, it is very hard to even consider all of the prevailing influences which have limited those head coaching opportunities to so few African American coaches over the years.

With that said, once availed the opportunity, all coaches - including Prince, Willingham, Bowden & Fulmer - must stand on their win-lose record and upon the school's expectation of winning. All of them - white or black - were deemed substandard & were fired by their respective Universities!

The time off should give Charlie lots of time to come up with some new reasons for his team's failure on the field. Let's remember that upon taking the ND job that Jabba the Hut had declared his strategic genius over all other college coaches, so the only possible problem with his teams must be that the repeated Top 10 recruiting classes just aren't performing up to par.

The difference for many notable programs this year is a lack of good consistent quarterback play. Tennessee & Michigan a just two of those whose play on the field is poor beginning with the QB position. A good team can cover up poor play at most positions...just not at quarterback!!

Daryll Clark is a very proud young man and a credit to JoPa's program - which has certainly taken some off-the-field hits in recent years. Clark has willingly negated the overall poor play of his teammates by chosing to shoulder the blame for the Lion's lose to Iowa. I hope his mates reward him by stepping up again on the football field these next 2 weeks.

Cronin appears to fit Beilien's playing style quite well. With his senior HS season & a red-shirt year in Ann Arbor, Cronin will get bigger and stronger. He will be a nice piece to Beilien's new Big 10 program.

Why would any team hire Larry Brown? He always requires a multi-year deal and his new job attention span never outlasts his contract length. He has been paid to go away too many times - making him easily the league's highest paid coach when you factor in the "go away" money he gets from each past job's cpntract.
