Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Beasley has message for skeptics
I never thought Beasley was a natural PF anyway. He could turn out to be Sophomore of the Year.
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Cavs' West in more trouble?
We don't know everything there is to know about this story and we shouldn't. But we know enough to understand that Mr. West is not making good decisions based on the apparent fact that he is mentally ill.

If dude COULD get control of his scene, he probably would. That's the point.

It's a personnel issue for the Cavs. It's a source of conjecture for fans. But it's a calamity for Delonte and his family. Let's hope he gets the help he needs.
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Barkley criticizes Knicks plan
It is likely that the the Knicks will land a franchise player (maybe two?) in next summer's Harmonic Convergence of SuperStar Migration. At least they will play a more entertaining brand of bad basketball this year...
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Forbes: NBA's most overpaid player is...
Articles like this explain why I generally do not read business magazines to stay current on the NBA. Hey Forbes editors: better your next article on overpaid guys is about which Wall St exec got the most for doing the least.
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Bosh still miffed at Shaq?
Hate to go all geopolitically correct on you, but misspelled "Turkish Assassin" smack is just not okay at a couple of levels.
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Agent: Rondo won't sign Celtics deal
How much is it worth to the Celtics to be in serious contention to make it to the Finals?

Both sides are just posturing--bidness as usual at this stage in the negotiations.

Rondo may/may not be among the top 5 PGs in the league, but he is probably more of a difference maker than Ray Allen.
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Agent: Rondo won't sign Celtics deal
How much is it worth to be a serious contender to make it to the Finals? Cs wouldn't be in serious consideration to get there without him.

Both sides are posturing--no surprise, just business as usual at this point in the negotiations.

Rondo may/may not be among the top 5 PGs, but he is a nice fit in Beantown.
Posted Friday October 16, 2009, About: Durant: I'll do anything to make Team USA
Just be your automatic mismatch-creating self, Kev. You're practically a lock. But just to make sure, keep working hard to improve your defensive skills.
Posted Monday October 12, 2009, About: Durant goes off on Twitter
OKC is a work in progress. Durant is a terrific scorer who has a chance to be a great player. Of course, it's just an impression, but his Twitter response seems like a player who wants to get better and be part of a winning effort.
Posted Monday October 12, 2009, About: Why Cavs-Warriors trade won't work
It is unfortunate that Delonte West is injured, so to speak. Of course, he won't come back any taller, but there is no reason to think he won't return as a valuable member of a very solid rotation. Lots of clubs could use a Stephen Jackson, but he might be marooned in Nellieville.
Posted Monday October 12, 2009, About: Survey: NBA's toughest player is...
And you have a need to point this out because...?
Posted Monday October 12, 2009, About: Warriors in no rush to trade Jackson
Stephen Jackson has been a major contributor in making the Warriors the club they are today. They had that little playoff run, but haven't been able to build on on it. I would like to see Nellie's brand of mad science flourish--the NBA needs weird match-ups and unconventional styles. Too bad.
Posted Friday October 09, 2009, About: Will Jazz start Millsap over Boozer?
The Jazz are set at PF, that's for sure. Boozer is lucky to be on the Jazz because he has lots of scoring opportunities in Sloan's system that he might not get elsewhere. I think the guy who is gonna make a splash at C/PF is Kosta Koufos...
Posted Friday October 09, 2009, About: Why Alston may bolt Nets
I like the idea of Alston as insurance for Delonte. What would make that work is that Mo Williams is a combo guard who would be happy to play off the ball at times. Alston does seem destined to bounce from team to team, though. Maybe it's his agent trying to maximize Alston's earning potential, but it's just as likely that his complementary skill set enables him to fit into various systems.
Posted Wednesday September 30, 2009, About: Garnett vents at Celtics coach
By no means are the Celts automatic, KG or no KG.
Posted Tuesday September 29, 2009, About: Garnett uneasy about injury
Because Garnett and the Celtics were so coy about the seriousness of his injury last year, it makes me wonder how well his rehab has gone.
Posted Tuesday September 29, 2009, About: Aldridge unhappy with Blazers contract talks
It's just bidness, but it's hard to not take it personally.
Posted Tuesday September 29, 2009, About: West struggling with mood disorder
Actually, no. Millionaire athletes on a championship-caliber clubs do not routinely joy ride on motorcycles while armed to the teeth.

You are way off base!

BS is making an ignorant online comments about mental illness.
Posted Monday September 28, 2009, About: How Tim Duncan lost 15 pounds
It's good that he lost a little weight, I suppose. But zero-gravity treadmills and 1500 yards in the pool don't translate to basketball. Even Poppovich can't concoct a defense to neutralize Father Time. That being said, the Spurs have loaded up--with some luck--and it always takes luck--Tim could make it back to the Finals.
Posted Monday September 28, 2009, About: Bobcats shopping Bell
Don't the Bobcats need a guy with Raja's skill set and intangibles?
Posted Monday September 28, 2009, About: Do or die for Scott in New Orleans?
Bryon Scott has proven to be a solid NBA coach. With rare exceptions, these guys have a shelf life of 4-5 seasons with one club, tops. That being said, Scott will always be a safe hire for a franchise looking to switch up. The Hornets did have a big season in 2008-09. The Lakers AP (after Phil)? Ask Kobe--it will be his call.
