He was fine. He was too hyped up in the first inning and overthrew. And the umpire squeezed him a bit.

Geis was pretty good. My main concern isn't Joba starting, it's who else do we have in the bullpen.

Not impressive, but not a waste. I only wish they'd started him AWAY from NY the game before... against Livan Hernandez (who gets pummeled by the Yanks)... and NOT against Halladay. I still think he's better suited out of the pen, and some of the previous starters needed to step up.. but it doesnt seem like Girardi's scheduling was doing him any favors

Hi there Becca.. as much as I'm looking forward to seeing Joba's start tonight, I'm routinely haunted by our lack of 8th inning protection... I belive FMSD said yesterday to maybe bring Hughes in as the 8th inning guy when he comes back from his "ego strain".. At this point I'd be willing to give that a shot.... And sorry about Ortiz and the wrist.. is he only out 2 weeks? or is surgery needed?
