OUTSTANDING! I will definately be watching this game. Glad to see USSF lately realizes we need to play good competition outside of the CONCACAF, like Argentina, England, Spain....etc etc. I realize how our chances are going to be in getting a positive result, but look forward to the experience we will gain playing against the high level of talent.
Posted Wednesday November 25, 2009, About: Crew's Moreno a fit for Philly Union?
Philly could end up having a good draft and come out looking better than quite a few current MLS teams............I like these picks if I were Philly manager:

1. Bobby Convey (MF) from San Jose
2. Amado Guevara (MF) from Toronto
3. Mike Petke (CB) from New York
4. Ryan Cochrane (CB) from Houston
5. Herculez Gomez (FW) from Kansas City
6. Jacob Peterson (MF) from Colorado
7. Anthony Wallace (DF/MF) from Dallas
8. Chris Albright (RB) from New England
9. Josh Saunders (GK) from Los Angeles
10. Ned Grabavoy (MF) from Real Salt Lake

But, I ain't no MLS manager and I am sure the draft will look nothing like my picks.

Posted Monday March 16, 2009, About: Cutler asks for trade
If Shanahan would've held his team accountable Cutler (and most Broncos) would be acting much differently than they are now. But this situation would've never came about if McDaniels wouldn't have come in trying to get his QB project from the Pats. Like I have heard most upset Bronco fans claiming, the offense was fine last year, why hire an offensive minded coach? The defense is why the Broncos got nowhere. Denver basically had to score 30+ points in every game to win. Defense wins championships. Denver should have gone after a defensive oriented coach. Instead that got this yaywho that is screwing the one good thing the Broncos had up.
Posted Thursday February 26, 2009, About: Donovan's Bayern stint to end?
Barring LD getting hurt early in the season or his form dropping off dramaticaly, I will be surprised if he is with LA after the summer transfer session. He didn't do much with the Bayern, but Bayern really hadn't done much either. They dropped down to 4th place in the standings, and that you can't put on LD. He played just as well as everyone else, minus Miroslav Klose. He was surrounded by people that are stars for their countries (Luca Toni - Italy; Klose, Schweinsteiger, Podolski, Lahm - Germany; Ribery - France) much bigger than he is for USA. And he still did resepctable for the minutes he received. No shame in coming back now and leaving later to anohter club after they have seen how you fared on Germany's superclub.

Toronto needs to just get a team set and stick with it. If they keep interchanging all the parts they will never mesh and play well together.

*as much as last year
Posted Tuesday February 24, 2009, About: Galaxy resigned to losing Beckham
So Milan is offering $3.0 mil and jersey sales alone last year were $4.8 mil. Plus the ratings hike on television, not to mention ticket sales for games when Becks is in town. Now I know jersey sales won't be as much agas last year, but I feel $10 mil would be a firm number to get for him to Italy. If not, no sweat. He can come back and play this MLS season. Then Becks can do whatever is necessary to use the opt out clause in his contract and go back to Italy if they still want him. He will still have 8 months to impress Capello enough to earn a roster spot for the World Cup in 2010 after the 2009 MLS season is over, even longer if the Galaxy don't make the playoffs again this year.
Posted Thursday February 19, 2009, About: Bayern letting Donovan go?
Donovan won't be bought by Bayern. But come summer transfer time I won't be surprised if he ends up somewhere in Europe. Teams are seeing that he can play well with the likes of starters on arguably the best team in Germany. Bayern won't cough up the cash that MLS will most likely want for him, but someone will. As sad as it is to say this (and funny I might add), I wouldn't be surprised to see Man City throw some ridiculous figure like $15-20mil at MLS for Donovan.
Posted Thursday February 19, 2009, About: Galaxy chasing Honduran defender
Maybe it was just me, but I thought the Galaxy's defense looked 100 times better last night than they did last year. But maybe it was just against they team they played. One bright spot that everyone may want to keep in mind, Eddie Lewis. He started at left back and played a very good game. He got up the wings the whole game and also got back on defense very well. With all the question marks surrounding the left back position with the national team I think it will be interesting to see how he does throughout the season.
Posted Friday February 06, 2009, About: Beckham: I'll take pay cut for Milan
Real Madrid is gonna get CR7 anyways so not a big loss that Bayern WON'T be letting Ribery go until the end of his contract.

Beckham should foot the difference between what MLS wants and what Milan offers for him. If he wants to stay bad enough he should be willing to do whatever it takes.

Appiah won't come but LA needs some peeps bad.
Posted Friday February 06, 2009, About: Galaxy again inquire about Ghana captain
Well the Galaxy need to start making some moves NOW as Beckham probably won't be back and Donovan is very doubtful as well. I think Arena realized that which is why he has changed his mindset on Beckham leaving. He isn't stupid, now he (Arena) needs to start looking for replacements ASAP that way they can come in during preseason and get some practice time/time to blend with other players before the season starts. MLS needs to have sold Beckham yesterday so LA can move ahead now.

Posted Wednesday January 28, 2009, About: Report: Beckham has six days for Milan deal
Blah Blah Blah, does anyone really care? We all KNOW Becks doesn't want to come back to LA. So is MLS going to force him to come back and play disgruntled like so many other MLSers that had transers refused by the MLS? Or are they going to take the money and try and work with Becks about coming back in a year or two? Obviously the $$$$ Milan offered is going to have to go up significantly.
Posted Tuesday January 27, 2009, About: Why MLS may sell Beckham to Milan
Aaaaaaah, I knew LD was grandfathered in to LA and the DP thing, but did not know that AEG was picking up $500k of his $900k salary. Why the h*** couldn't LA put together a better team if they had a cap of $2.1 mil? I thought LD and Beckham were taking up $1.3 mil of it and that was why they were so strung out money wise. Wait wait, I got it........Alexi Lalas. Nevermind.
Posted Tuesday January 27, 2009, About: Why MLS may sell Beckham to Milan
Not only could the Galaxy be getting rid of the $400k of Beckham's contract they owe, but potentially Donovan's $900k/year salary. Plus they got rid of $120k for Jazic, $144k for Vagenas. They picked up Kirovski from SJ for $220k, Magee from NY for $65k and Kovalenko from RSL for $200k. I am not sure how much Ricketts contract is but excluding him they have $1,079,000 to work with. They could use that money and Bruce Arena could turn that team around in no time. MLS must sell.

****? Uh, that is the first time I had even mentioned the salary cap and it is pertinent to the conversation. But sure what the heck, I second the agreement, no salary cap talk for a week.
