Posted Sunday July 28, 2013, About: MLB ready to reveal all Biogenesis suspensions?
As for A-Rod, the situation is more complicated. Insurance coverage issues vis a vis his return or non-return from "injury" plays into the timing of the suspension. That is why they are waiting on the others as well, so as to not give the impression that A-Rod and the Yankees situation was treated differently. MLB and the Yankees want A-Rod out of baseball and to not be owed the millions from that great contract the Yankees renegotiated a few years back. As for all of these guys, who really cares if the suspensions run over into next year. Why tailor the suspensions in a way that provides any "carrot" or benefit for the players. It's not like they all didn't know exactly what they were doing and the risks involved. They have all left an indelible mark on the game of baseball, so why shouldn't the suspensions leave an equally deep scar on their careers as well?
