Posted Wednesday January 14, 2009, About: Kansas offers scholarship to high school freshman
I wouldn't say that Weber has been criticized for recruiting Richmond. Furthermore, Richmond only played one game in high school, as previously pointed out. Boatright (USC) and Avery (UK) "committed" during the summer before high school. Richmond had one extra game under his belt. The difference between Richmond and the other two is negligible.
If other coaches are doing this, it would be stupid for Self to stop. But if we are going to criticize Self, Floyd, and Gillispie (as the NABC did), we have to criticize Weber and Ol' Roy.

Gillispie at UK and Tim Floyd at Southern Cal have done it while being shredded in the media. Roy Williams (UNC), Weber (Illinoise), Donovan and now Self have done it without criticism.

As long as you have Bruce Weber in your conference, you are never the worst coach in your conference.

He's probably right about Urban Meyer, but you can't base that off of one play.

I was at the first preseason game, and it seemed like everybody was pro-Rodgers.

He just needs to find the felons that don't get caught. That's how he got to the national championship game.

I didn't think you would be. Just making sure. I don't think the starting job had been decided, though.
Posted Wednesday August 06, 2008, About: Big Ten bashing comes into vogue
The SEC has performed better than the Big 10 the past few years, but not because of a lack of effort on Ohio State's part. I wonder if the Big 10 would be more palatable if it had more depth. For me, the bigger sign of the Big 10's weakness was Illinois making it to the Rose Bowl, only to get obliterated.

Tigerbait,
Pulley is a scrambling QB, who has seen some time at WR, but by no means does he have Perriloux's athletic ability.

Does Brian get much playing time? Is there hope that Mike has the same athletic ability as Brian?

We need more players getting in trouble if we are going to beat Illinois out for the Fulmer Cup.
Posted Thursday July 24, 2008, About: Meyer's still ticked at Bulldogs
It wasn't very professional of Richt to ask his players to do what they did, or adult of the players to follow through to the extent that they did. We have to keep in mind that these are kids who are playing a game, but are under pressure by us, the fans.

NWPA, did you see Illinois celebrating on the Buckeye logo? Unsportsmanlike celebrations happen everywhere.
Posted Thursday July 17, 2008, About: Chargers obsessed with Patriots
I agree Yoda. Every team in the AFC should be obsessed with beating the Patriots, because they are the defending AFC champions.

In regards to the secondary moves: New England went out and bought itself a receiving corps (and a defense, but that's a different subject). If you want to beat that, you need to get yourself a pretty good secondary.

"Hmmm....Cleveland fans are yelling dejavu. He'll tell the Jazz he'll opt out to resign with them then roll off in the night and sign somewhere else."

Amen, a taste of your own medicine, O'Connor and Miller.
Posted Thursday July 10, 2008, About: Doc Rivers' son commits to Gators
"There needs to be some kind of NCAA rule barring college coaches from recruiting players this young. This is ridiculous. These kids don't even know what college is all about, and they're already committing."

The NABC is looking into the matter, and has strongly discouraged such practices. We'll see if there is any backlash from the NABC, or if the media is just going to let him get away with it (unlike Gillispie, Floyd, Roy Williams and Bruce Weber, all of whom have commitments from high school freshmen or younger).
Posted Tuesday May 20, 2008, About: Benson, Urlacher skip workout
"Benson will be the one who gets grilled here today and Urlacher - once again - will be let off the hook."

I have no intention of letting Urlacher off the hook. On the field he made a name for himself by being the fastest middle linebacker. There are so many linebackers faster than him now that he doesn't have anything that DeMeco Ryans or Patrick Willis don't have. Off the field, he holds out for more money and sends threatening text messages to the mother of his child.

Lofton's jersey will be in the rafters at Thompson-Bowling soon because of the heart he showed on the court. It turns out that his heart is even stronger off the court.

Best wishes for the future, Chris.
Posted Monday May 05, 2008, About: Hoosiers land big commitment
I can understand why somebody would want to play at IU, without having seen it first. It's a great school with great fans and great tradition. However, Crean is vastly overrated.
Posted Monday May 05, 2008, About: Kentucky wants eighth grader
"Completely understandable. KY men want 8th grade girls to be their wife so why wouldn't the bball coach want an 8th grade bball player? :P
The Warden

You have a good point there Warden. That or they didn't want to risk waiting too long and have him commit to Gardner-Webb so that they could get beat by them again in a few years. Kentucky is pathetic."

Not as pathetic as agreeing with ridiculous stereotypes for the purpose of personal amusement, or continuing to bring up one game from one year with many similar upsets.

That was a pretty stupid move Paul.
Unless it was directed towards Al Horford. When is Al Horford's taunting fine going to be announced?

"He got ate alive.."

If Brennan were actually consumed at the Senior Bowl while still breathing, he would have been *eaten* alive.
