There is already such a clause in Rivers' contract. He can't coach another team if he quits for three years UNLESS the Celtics allow him to and there will be required compensation if they do.

The Hawks should be Seattle's next target. Atlanta's fair weather fans don't deserve an NBA team.

Obviously, Khan would never part with Love or Rubio.
Posted Thursday August 09, 2012, About: How Kobe sealed the deal with Nash
Dwight Howard to the Lakers. The Magic turned down the Nets out of spite. Can't believe this. The Houston deal would have been better. They are taking Al Harrington's three year contract???
Posted Wednesday August 08, 2012, About: Howard passing his youth camp in Orlando
Please. The character was a nice bonus, but Rick Pitino didn't tank his season to draft a character guy and he DESPERATELY wanted Tim Duncan. Hell everyone did.

We're not counting drafting Jordan Hill a mistake?

Wallace isn't under contract.
Posted Monday July 30, 2012, About: Magic preparing another push to trade Howard?
He wouldn't want to play with that young core...at least not in OKC.
Posted Tuesday July 24, 2012, About: Bulls treading water until 2014
Perhaps the Bulls should tank the season to obtain a high lottery pick.
Posted Tuesday July 24, 2012, About: Interest in Przybilla heating up with suitors
Keeping mama happy is always a good thing. Sure he would have had a ring in Miami, but it would likely be Eddie Curry/Juwan Howard style. Head had competent bench warmers without him.

Damn.
Posted Tuesday July 24, 2012, About: Embarrassed Lester can barely look teammates in the eye
I concur. A four year bowl ban is like seven years of the Death penalty. Who would want to play there except PSU homers?
Posted Tuesday July 24, 2012, About: The next Eagle to strike it rich
This isn't the NBA or MLB. The only 'new' money he will see will be his signing bonus. They'll backload his extension and he will still be playing out the final two years of his rookie contract. Plus, if he retires they will demand his signing bonus back a la Ricky Williams. NFL teams hold all the cards.
Posted Tuesday July 24, 2012, About: The next Eagle to strike it rich
Fortunately, coaches salaries don't count against the salary cap.

My granny used to say that it takes two fools to argue.
Posted Sunday July 22, 2012, About: Love: 'Bad blood' in Minnesota
It's Beasley. Hell event the GM has called Beasley out in the past and the team couldn't be rid of him fast enough. Personally, I think Love should have just let sleeping dogs lie, but apparently he does have something of a ego. At least Love actually improves his game by working out with Westbrook and Rose in the past. He at least has the currency to talk.
Posted Sunday July 22, 2012, About: Howard's agent denies Lakers speculation
I'm not. I like having NBA stories to talk about during baseball season. This helps pass the time until the NFL kicks off.
Posted Sunday July 22, 2012, About: Howard's agent denies Lakers speculation
Chris Paul should follow the Deron Williams example regardless whether he plans to re-sign with the Clippers or not. He should firmly explain that it is financially in his best interest to become a free agent and then sign a five year deal. If pressed whether it will be with the Clippers he should say yes (even if it is a lie).
Posted Sunday July 22, 2012, About: Bynum's agent: 'Zero contact' with Cavs on blockbuster
The owners insisted that extensions only be 3 years and maximum free agent contracts be five (down from seven before). They REALLY want a deal like the NFL has. I expect that we will be back in a few years when the next lockout occurs with the Jordans and Gilberts and Sterlings clamoring for three year maximum contracts with an team option for a fourth year and something akin to the franchise tag. It is the only way to keep players in cities like Charlotte and Cleveland. I hope the players fight it, but if history is any indicator they will fold...again.
Posted Sunday July 22, 2012, About: Bynum's agent: 'Zero contact' with Cavs on blockbuster
I feel sorry for Bynum because he should have been the Lakers first option last season, but instead the rest of the squad insisted upon passing the ball to Kobe regardless of the matchups Bynum had. the Lakers FINALLY get a point guard who will get the ball to the open man regardless of who he is and Bynum is being shopped. Don't get me wrong...if I'm the Lakers I go after Howard too because his defense and lack of need for the ball fits well with Kobe. But anyone who is close to playing on the court with Nash has to be crying inside at the idea of being shipped out.
Posted Saturday July 21, 2012, About: Extend-and-trades would cost Howard, Bynum money
No matter where Howard (and for that matter Bynum) is playing at year's end he will opt out. That is clear. The question is: Once Howard makes it to free agency will the team holding his Bird rights agree to a sign and trade? I believe Houston is the ideal team to trade for Howard because they are the team most willing to let him walk and receive nothing in return. Houston wants top twenty player or three or four years at the top of the lottery.
