Agreed.

You guys will be back, though, Ozzie Newsome finds tons of talent, and the nature of the NFL is teams will fall down and build themselves back up. They may be down this year, but Cincinnati is down and will stay down.
I hate all three of them, but Chad's an elite player, Scott is a tough guy with moderate (no more than that) skills, and Landry is an average player at best.

You're about the billionth person to point this out. Let it go. Would everyone just accept this if he obeyed the grammatical rules of the Spanish language?
I detest the Cincinnati Bengals, and everything about them, but I really don't see this as being a big deal. He gets a cut of all of his jersey sales, and this will no-doubt increase the amount sold. Clearly, it brings attention to himself, which is never a bad thing when you get paid to be noticed.
It's so ridiculous it's funny. Now we get to refer to him as COC, like Maurice Jones-Drew gets called MJD.
Unfortunately, it's not me who needs to grow up, it's Chris Henry. At the very least, don't be naive enough to call this a "second" chance. He's had five chances. If Cincinnati wants to give him another chance, then fine, that's their choice, but he's done nothing at all to show he's changed, and a guy who's been arrested multiple times has to provide more than the absence of bad when he's on house arrest for me to assume he's changed.
It's a complete insult to me for you to assume I'd give Henry a pass if my team (Steelers) signed him. I would say the same thing I am saying, and I wouldn't be happy at all. I'd rather be 9-7 with clean players than 11-5 with Chris Henrys. This isn't to suggest Henry is worth two wins, or that the Steelers haven't had players who have gotten in trouble with the law, but overall, I feel satisfied with the team's commitment to character, and as you, and all Browns and Ravens fans know, we don't exactly have a problem winning.
Yeah, why would you think it's bad? You want the team to win, not have character. You're a Bengals fan, you know you can't have both.

Been hearing this for years...that wasn't even the first time he teed off on a Ravens player in his career. He knocked Rod Woodson unconscious a few years back.
Could the fact that Ward is considered to be a dirty player be more because he hits people and knows how to avoid getting hit, and other players are frustrated? He took a shot on Daven Holly earlier last year and got penalized. By and large, he hits people clean, that's why they don't like him.
Ed Reed Fan:Nice Butt Coach B | 08/14/08, 11:08 AM
If anything, Ward's hit on Reed could be construed as a little less than ethical. The one on Scott was perfectly fine, just as was Scott's huge hit on Roethlisberger the previous season. I don't understand why he's crying about it now. I'm sorry, I won't accept Scott's not driving his shoulders into Roethlisberger's knees as proof that he's a good guy. He's not allowed to do that, and he would have been suspended if he did.
As soon as Scott does something in the league that matches what Ward has done, he can pop off all he wants and no one will care.
Reed is four times the player Scott is, and Reed didn't say squat about it. At least there's one real man on the Ravens defense.
TFBuckFutter | 08/17/08, 10:30 AM
I thought the same thing.
SlinkyRedfoot | 08/17/08, 10:58 AM
Make it three.
I read it twice and I'm still trying to figure out what he's talking about.
I believe the stool next to Latrell Sprewell and Barry Bonds at the Brooding Bar and Grill is available, Gary. Go there, and ****.
If the Ravens have shown anything in the past few years, it's been the amazing ability to re-stock high-end defensive players through the later rounds of the draft, they aren't going to give Ray Lewis top-five defensive player money to get beaten out by a second year player.

It's a column, the writer is paid to write his opinions. If sports were at all objective, we wouldn't be arguing about them on sites like FanNation.
He does host some good shows though an I loved the way he covered the Mike Vick dog fighting ring, it was the most interesting episode with the exception of the Pacman Jones interview....

Apparently people watch his show Real Sports, and that's fine. I'm glad he can just stick with that. He put very little effort into calling the game, and since there are a lot of talented broadcasters who would kill, destroy and pillage for Gumbel's seat next to Collinsworth (who does a fantastic job) I think it was smart that Gumbel and NFLN parted ways.
When Gumbel referred to Frank Gore as "Al Gore" twice, I had a serious problem. The job he did in the Steelers at Rams game (several mispronounced names, very little emphasis put on calling the action) was enough for me to question why it is I was even paying for NFLN, and I pay like $1.30 a month for the package.
He was an absolute abomination last season, and I'm looking forward to Thursday Night games now. Thank you, NFLN!
Mental Ray | 04/04/08,
LOL! Yes, exactly, Ray!
1. It's far from his first criminal issue. It's not even his first traffic incident. If it's me, and my employee is under probation for a variety of charges he pled guilty to, and has a suspended license, I have a SERIOUS problem with him getting busted because he was driving. THEN, AFTER THAT, he gets nailed again for having expired tabs on his car. I can't stand the fact people want to ignore patterned behavior, and disregard someone's past and how it pertains to their current situation. It's just an ignorant point of view.
2. Not only do I have an obvious problem with him punching someone in a bar, but the fact he's even IN a bar suggests to me he's not comprehending the amount of trouble he's gotten himself into. He doesn't care, and if that's the case, he doesn't need to drag the name of the Cincinnati Bengals or the NFL down any more. He's been given ample opportunity to not act like a thug, but he clearly cannot accept that responsibility. I'm glad Cincinnati gave him a chance, and I'm glad they cut him. He shouldn't be afforded another chance to drag down the name of another team.
Except for Dallas, they'll sign him between now and a week before camp.

Amen, Ed! We should save the rain forests, too! And give everyone 140 percent pay raises! And free health care! See, the problem is, the Republicans get in the way of everything. Honestly, if they didn't only want to start war all the time, and would start thinking more about how we can be more like the countries in Europe, the world would be so much better.
Every other country hates us! We're supposed to stop polluting the atmosphere (also the fault of the Republicans), and we don't even do that. The rest of the world is hungry, because the U.S. makes so much more money than other countries, and it doesn't share! Why can't we all just give away 20 percent of our salaries, and give it to the poor?
Maybe, someday, all of us will actually get off our couches and vote these stupid Republicans out of office, then we can do what every productive society has done to maintain its weathy and prosperity; give all of our money away.
