Middleton? The Guy's name is Middlebrooks. Also, Bogaerts has already shown that he's an MLB player.
Posted Friday February 21, 2014, About: Mets through with Drew
The right price would be $5M for one year, and a promise to shut up while he's riding the bench.
Posted Thursday December 26, 2013, About: Obvious favorite to sign Tanaka
Maybe dumb, but he has to be potentially a better deal, even at $100M/6 years than what they're paying Ellsbury.
Posted Wednesday November 27, 2013, About: Yankees-Cano gap 'very substantial'
I haven't seen any indication that ANYONE is willing to meet Cano and his inexperienced Agent's price, so the Yankees would be negotiating with themselves. The Yankee's last offer was more than fair. The figure might be reached in the future by someone (Mike Trout?) who is a better payer and lesser risk than Cano, but at this time, what he wants is absurd.
Posted Sunday November 10, 2013, About: Report: 'Bunch of teams' pursuing Stephen Drew
Who is the Source that is claiming a "bunch of teams" want Drew? Scott Boreass, his Agent?
Drew is, at best, a platoon player who can hit from one sid of the plate and field his position adequately. The "Qualifying Offer" is far more than he's worth. He'a an adequate AL player who might be better in the baby NL.
Posted Tuesday May 21, 2013, About: Howard aired D'Antoni grievances with Lakers
Howard is a clubhouse cancer. I was reading today that he'd be interested in playing for the Rockets or Mavericks. If they're smart, the team GMs and Coaches should be running in the opposite direction.

Ooooh! As a Red Sox fan, I'm terrified. This guy will be lucky to make Cleveland's Opening Day Roster.
Posted Thursday January 03, 2013, About: Boston worked out Bobby Abreu ... at first base
At his salary and injury record? Hell, NO!
Posted Monday December 17, 2012, About: Yankees interested in Angels' Vernon Wells
Really??? Do they need a replacement for Andruw Jones, at about ten times the salary?
Posted Monday December 10, 2012, About: Greinke can opt out in three years
It would be nice if the Dodgers had an "Opt Out" clause, but teams like the Yankees, Dodgers, Phillies and Red Sox are not as smart as the Agents and Player Unions, and they continue to get stuck with mammoth contracts for mediocre players. Hamilton is, in my opinion, a safer choice than Greinke. Hamilton only lapses occasionally. Greinke experiences total meltdowns.
Posted Thursday November 15, 2012, About: Red Sox locking in on Napoli
Napoli hit .227 last year and can't play First Base. Mauro Gomez hit .275, James Loney hit .249, and both are defensively better than Napoli. Even Salty hit .239, had more homers than Napoli, is 4 years younger, and could learn to play First Base better than Napoli in a month. This trade is nuts.
Posted Tuesday November 13, 2012, About: Red Sox locking in on Napoli
.227 BA, and not a good 1st baseman. James Loney hit .249 this year. Mauro Gomez, in a short stint with the Red Sox, hit .275. Both are 3 years younger than Napoli, who hits with power, but brings nothing else to the table. Sox would be nuts to sign this guy.
Posted Tuesday November 13, 2012, About: Valentine's next stop: An MLB post?
Make him the liaison with Scott Boras. There would be no loser in that fist fight.
Posted Saturday October 06, 2012, About: What John Farrell would cost Boston
You're delusional. The Yankees would give Cano for Pedroia.
Posted Saturday October 06, 2012, About: What John Farrell would cost Boston
If they retained Valentine, they better have plans to move the franchise!
Posted Saturday October 06, 2012, About: What John Farrell would cost Boston
The real question is why would the Red Sox want Ferrell? He was a lousy Pitching Coach when he was in Boston, and he's been a lousy Manager since he went to Toronto. Just because he might be better than Bobby V (who wouldn't be?) doesn't mean that the Sox should hire him! To answer the question asked, though, my answer would be that I wouldn't tender an offer. Come on, Red Sox Fans. Despite the 2012 debacle, you can aspire to someone better than John Ferrell!
Posted Wednesday August 29, 2012, About: Bard-for-Farrell deal in the works?
If they need a new Manager (The obviously do), Brad Mills, who the Astros fired recently, would be a better choice. Ferrell was a terrible Pitching Coach in Boston, and he's showing every sign of duplicating this lack of success as a manager in Toronto.
Posted Wednesday August 29, 2012, About: Will Boston bite on Mauer?
This is the stupidest speculation of the a mile! Why would they, after dumping $262M of salary a few days ago, waste $135m of it on an often injured, prematurely old Catcher who doesn't want to catch? It must be a slow news day.
Posted Monday June 11, 2012, About: Youkilis, Quentin in Dodgers' future?
Why don't some of you people take your inane chatter to Facebook, and leave this forum to people who want to discuss sports??
Posted Thursday April 19, 2012, About: Report: Howard won't play for Van Gundy
Fine. Since he's currently under contract, tell him that he's suspended without pay until he realizes that playing a game for a living isn't the hardest job in the world. Of course, he'll milk his current injury, and the Players Association will support him, so my suggestions probably would only work in an ideal environment.
Has anyone noticed that the Magic team has been playing pretty well without him? Time to cut your losses. Hang a "For Sale" sign around his neck, and make him available to the highest bidder. If the highest bidder is some podunk, loser team, and Dwight doesn't want to go there, tell him "tough"!
Posted Thursday April 05, 2012, About: Cano holding up Kinsler's payday
Pedroia is better than both of them.
