The falcons have to stand by and hope the commish steps up and suspends they guy. A suspension without pay does not affect the Falcons cap....

As much as I hate and detest vick- he WILL NOT BE CUT. Here is why: Football is a business and they cant cut him for one simple reason.....The falcons would be in a WORLD of trouble if they cut Vick- Here is why.... Vick still has over $20 million in unamortized signing bonus money that has not yet been charged to the falcons cap. Vick has been paid the money, but signing bonuses for cap friendly purposes are dividely evenly over all the years of the contract (ie. Vick's bonus was $37 million on a 10 year contract, so every year $3.7 million of that bonus is charged against ATL's cap) Any bonus money not yet charged to the cap is called an unamortized bonus and gets charged to the teams cap immediately in the year they cut or trade a player. SO cutting Vick would add an additional $25.9 million to their cap RIGHT NOW. Considering they are only 2 million under the cap as it stands right now- they can't cut him. If they do they would have to cut around $23 million worth of other players to get back under the cap. You cut $23 million worth of players, guess what? Your team does absolutely AWFUL! So basically dumping the guy costs your team the season

calbears- you seem to have a lot of pent up rage, especially as it surrounds Brett Favre. Did you parents not hug you enough because they were busy worshipping Favre? The guy is an all time great, and he may not be as great as he once was BUT he does make the packers a better team. If management thought Rodgers was the better option to win football games, that is who they would start. Obviously, they do NOT....

Taylor should have hated on Merriman last year- it was merited. Taylor's hating ending up in a rule change- a much needed one. Player that test positive can no longer be eligible for post season awards and pro bowls. Why shouldn't it make him angry- he got there without juicing....

(this is all from memory) the first QB to win a bowl was Bart Starr, followed by Bart starr, followed by Broadway Joe, followed by Len Dawson, followed by Johnny U, followed by staubach, then Griese 2 times (although his back up was highly involved one year), 4 of next 6 were Bradshaw with Stabler and Staubach in middle...followed by plunkett...that is up to 1980.. every true football fan knows this.. casual fans may not, but diehards do- these guys were the GODFATHERS of the position...

He will never pass a physical with those neck problems... he already failed one...while he is still a very productive player, no nfl team is gonna take a chance on him for what he is gonna want to get paid. He isn't going to risk life long paralysis for an incentive laden contract.

He won't get traded... why would any team pay him the $5.5 million his current contract calls for when they know the Fins are gonna cut him and they could pick him up off waivers for $2 or $3 million?

islanddboy... every QB to receiver tandem record is held by Manning/Harrison (most TD's, receptions, yards)...before them Young to Rice were #1 in TD's and Marino to Clayton were #1 in yards and receptions...Rice and Montana only played together for 6 seasons, so not much time for them to build those stats together, as far as where Culpepper is gonna go? I would say for a steep pay cut he could go to Atlanta or Baltimore in a strictly back up role.
