Its kind of funny that people are mentioning overzealous and cocky Patriots fans when the only people here fitting the overzealous and cocky description are those bashing the team. Ok, you don't like the Pats and think the videotaping invalidates every game they have played for the last decade. We get it..move on. Did the taping also help them win 18 games in a row last year and set tons of offensive records?

They are a good team, with a great coach, and an all time great quarterback. If you don't like it then please go prove it by beating them on the field instead of whining about stuff that happened years ago and had no impact on what happened last year.
Posted Tuesday May 27, 2008, About: Ortiz to Selig: Don't ruin the sport
Some people act like the games are an hour longer now than they were 10 or 20 years ago. That is simply not true. If anything the difference is probably 5 to 10 minutes at most on average.
Posted Monday May 26, 2008, About: Cassell puzzled by playoff benching
The one thing that has frustrated me about Doc at times is that he seemed to change his entire setup as soon as the postseason started. During the regular season we had the veteran presence and poise of the Big Three, but that was also coupled with the speed and energy of the younger guys like Rondo, Big Baby, Leon Powe...etc. When the playoffs began you hardly saw either Powe or Davis and Cassel seemed to be playing more minutes than Rondo.

Why change a formula that won you 66 games during the regular season? It makes no sense.
Posted Thursday May 15, 2008, About: Knicks send Isiah to Europe
He is scouting because they probably don't want to take the financial hit of firing him and want him to quit. I mean, the have pretty much done everything possible to embarass the guy.

1. It is announced Thomas will not be speaking to the players.
2. It is announced NOBODY will be reporting to Thomas.
3. He is sent to Europe the same day the new coach is introduced.

Basically now it is just a contest of wills to see who will become so disgusted with the situation that the back down first. With millions on the line though it would not shock me to see Thomas scouting for centers in Outer Mongolia later this year.

I will not blame any athlete that comes from a very modest background for doing what he can to benefit both himself and his family. College sports are an inudustry and the only people involved not benefiting to a large degree are the people on the court/field. Coaches and schools are making millions a year off of these kids. Sponsors make millions more to associate themselves with bowl games and the like. And we are going to cry foul when some kid takes 30k when his mother is living in a 2 bedroom house?

If you want to blame someone blame all of the others making a killing off of what these kids do. Blame the agents that troll the waters like sharks looking to stick their teeth into high school freshmen. Blame the coaches who turn a blind eye while enjoying their million dollar salaries. Blame the entire college sports culture for turning amateur events into giant paydays.

i can understand some of the names, but putting Favre on there sort of moots the entire list. How is a guy that has amassed several NFL Qb records overrated?
Posted Friday September 28, 2007, About: Patriot fighting dirty player label
And once again, if this had happened in an untelivised game last week it wouldn't have even been a story. Football is a dangerous sport and all players know the risks of going out there. Would you prefer Wilfork hand the QB some tea and crumpets instead of getting wrapped up and trying to make a hit?

It already seems like everything the Pats do is going to be absurdly scrutinized for the rest of the year. Patriots get busted for spying its a big story. 10 other teams do it and nobody cares. Harrison gets busted for HGH and it is front page news. Several others get caught and nobody cares. Wilfork hits the QB and he is a dirty player...25 other similar hits occur each game and nobody mentions it.

When they go 16-0 what will you people have to whine about then?

He isn't worth 30 million dollars a year. If any owner is foolish enough to give him that I hope they live to regret it as much as Tom Hicks has. Remember that last year he played closer to a 10 million dollar guy than a 25 million dollar guy.

And I can't imagine him playing for the Red Sox after all the dust ups with him and members of the team. He isn't well liked in Boston.

What we have here folks is another 'Rumor" that was totally invented just for the sake of discussion. Anyone looking at it, including the silly fellow who needed to write some sports material for his deadline at the Chicago Sun Time, can see this would make no sense.
Posted Saturday September 22, 2007, About: Bonds facing tough market
He will end up somewhere most likely. He is still a solid 30 HR guy playing left field. Who knows what he could do if he was DHing and able to rest his legs more?
Posted Saturday September 22, 2007, About: Tiki rips another former teammate
What the guy did was childish, but it just seems like Barber is making a name of himself by critizing the Giants on a weekly basis. Does he really HAVE to take eveyr possible shot he can against them? You would think he would have maybe the slightest bit of loyalty towards the organization that gave an undersized RB a chance and paid him the $$$ that allows him to live the wya he does now.

Exactly 4192jc

Kent has proven himself as one of the game's premier locker room cancers. If only his skills on the field were as good as his ability to run his mouth.

You would think he could wait a few more weeks at least to spout off like this. A team needs cohesion for the stretch run.

I think that some of you fail to see the different between breaking an NFL rule and commiting a REAL crime.

A coach buying steroids from seedy vendors using fake presciptions is a real crime...maybe even a felony.

Pacman Jones walking into a strip club and "making it rain"...then being involved in a shootout that left people paralyzed...is a real crime

Michael Vick hanging dogs, drowning them, electrocuting them, and gambling on dog fights is a felony!

Various other players getting arrested for weapon violations, driving offences, or purchaing steroids/HGH are REAL crimes.

Bill Belichick videotaping his ex pupil and trying to get into his head is breaking an NFL rule.

Please, for the love of god, do not try to act like what Belichick did in any way equates to breaking real life laws.

What you people fail to realize is that the "spying" didn't even help the Patriots in the Jets game. Are you telling me that the camera guy was able to view the signals..transfer that to an actual play....tell someone on the Patrtiots sideline...and then have that transferred to Brady? All in the span of a few seconds? Don't be silly...

This is just going to be used as an excuse to doubt all the success the Pats have had for the last several years, which is sad and rather outrageous.
Posted Monday September 17, 2007, About: Report: Pats extend Belichick to 2013
Are people seriously trying to say that videotaping deserves a bigger punishment than killing dogs, gambling, or being involved in a shootout at a nightclub? Yes, I'm sure a coach trying to get into his nemesis's head tarnishes the league more than Vick hanging dogs and electrocuting them or Pacam's minion crippling some poor guy for life at a stripclub.

Do you folks know that while videotaping is now considered illegal, it isn't illegal to have people with binoculars fixed on the opposiing coaches and recording all of their hand signals while you record the information? It is a very grey area within the rules. That is why the penalty was not more severe. It is not as if Belichick had the Jets locker room bugged. Basically he was doing what is already a common practice, but with a camera instead of binoculars and a video recorder.

And I guess we all saw last night what they can do without a camera..for all the clowns that think their Super Bowls should be taken away and all the other extreme nonsense. They only went out and totally dominated the best regular season team last year. I would love to see these guys go 16-0 and force the media critics to eat their words.
Posted Thursday September 13, 2007, About: MLB wants HGH test in '08
Well track and field athletes are basically solo performers. When you are talking about a team sport where tens of millions of dollars are being handed out to players you have to be careful.

For example...what if two teams make a trade...and then one of the players obtained tests positive? Is it feasible to ban the guy for two years and expect the team to lose the player they traded for nothing?
Posted Friday September 07, 2007, About: Aikman: Tiki's attitude to blame
Chemistry is important. For a team to be successful everyone has to be on the same page and you have to know the guy next toy ou has your back.

Do you think having Barber calling out his coach every other week and having a big discussion about his possible retirement at week 10 was a good idea and helped the team? I liked Tiki when he played, but the more I see out of him the more he seems like another me first guy, much like TO. Barber just packages it much better.
Posted Friday September 07, 2007, About: Report: Ankiel bought HGH
I like it how people are trying to refute the success Ankiel is having now because he took some HGH 2 and a half years ago. I think the effects may have worn off a bit by now don't you think?
Posted Tuesday September 04, 2007, About: More Pats used banned substances?
I doubt he "supplied" anyone. The guy has been injured the last two years and he was trying to heal his body so he could return to the field. It wasn't an issue of trying to bulk up so he could hit more home runs, or more QBs in the case of Merriman.
