The same players for Santana is not that bad - because Haren is signed for 2 more years at about 5 million each year. 5 million is 1 million more than what Boston will have to pay Santana EACH MONTH.

Right on! - Some people are forgetting that after the early season injuries the Yankees had last season (a record number of rookie starting pitchers - and making the playoffs was a minor miracle considering that) - they Won 9 of their last 12 games against Boston (without Santana) - The Yankees are not intimidated by Boston - They are not the Colorado Rockies - And regarding Beckett?....His 5+ ERA against the Yankees was less than impressive.

I say go with the youth (including Melky). All 3 pitchers showed something last year and this time they'll be there all year rather than a few months.

Listen, we are now taking applications for those Yankee fans who wish to convert to the Red Sox Nation.....strict confidentiality will apply...

There will soon be 13 year old Yankee Fans who will have only seen the Yankees as losers....convert now.....

Weren't you a 13 year-old Boston fan who had never seen them win once upon a time? Did you switch allegiances? Don't hold your breath waiting for any Yankee fans to join Boston Bandwagon Nation,...EVER.....sorry dude.

But you were a 13 year old Red Sox fan who'd never seen them win anything also. Did you switch allegiances?.............You may have a ton of new Boston Bandwagoners nowadays but I don't know of any Yankee fans who would EVER root for ANY Boston team. Sorry.

"what happened to the yankees in the post season the last 3 years?"

Better yet, what happened to the Red Sox last year? - that's a clue to what to expect for the rest of this year.

The Red Sox win a Championship once every 80-90 years - Another isn't due until everyone reading this is either on Social Security or dead.

"I love it when Yankees fans use words like "potential" and "voted". Too bad that doesn't equal "World Series". Go Red Sox!"

I love it when Red Sox fans get excited about 1 lousy championship in their Daddy's life. I understand they're greatly angered by seeing the Yanks winning so many championships in their lifetime, but let's keep it civil! Keep the comedy coming!

Just think,....if the Yanks don't win another Championship in the next 80 years, they'll be just like the Red Sox,.....Please don't let that happen God!

Yeah Donovan (SI's Team Rankings), That's a real funny video production by a crack crew of Bostonian Idiots. It's always good to exploit the elderly (as far as Sports Illustrated is concerned). Also, the making fun of Steinbrenner's (whose body is assumed to be dead) talking brain. Perhaps some Yankee fans can get together and make a "funny" video about Ted WIlliams' frozen dead body. Good idea, huh?

Funny how "buying the Championship" has failed miserably. If so, please write the league Commish and tell him so they can discontinue milking the Yankees of all that welfare money, since having the biggest payroll makes no difference anyway. I remember all the crying baseball fans who complained that the Yankees were able to 'buy' the Championships around 1996-2000. Funny how Yankee-haters can't seem to remain consistent. By the way, I'm 47 years old and a Yankee fan since 1969 when they weren't even #1 in New York. Another thing, the Yankees haven't won it all since 2000. Why have the "bandwagon" fans actually pushed attendance figures upward to new records? Have fun rationalizing that!

Since their overblown payroll doesn't make any difference in buying a Championship, why is the league milking millions in Luxury Taxes from them? After all, the Championship can't be bought, right?,...especially when it's the Yankees attempting to buy one!

Another thing, how is it that Yankee fan attendance has gone up since 2000 when the team hasn't won a Championship in that time and have anually disapointed their fans? Shouldn't those "bandwagon" Yankee fans have jumped ship by now? Wouldn't it be trendier to root for the Mets right about now? Have fun making your rationalizations Yankee-Haters!
