Hah, agreed... I just hope that this mistake will eventually lead him to being fired. Wonder if Gretzky has that kind of power really...? To make all the GM's turn on Bettman. It would be interesting to say the least.

About bloody time they take it away. As an old goalie I was furious and more than a little bit confused as to why the hell the NHL wanted to restrict goalies who are good (Martin Brodeur, Marty Turco and Rick DiPietro comes to mind) with the stick and use it to their advantage to help the team set up a quick counter attack or to turn the play around. The trapezoid is retarded to say the least.

Oh, and Forsberg has also told Swedish media that he knows where he wants to play, and that they could probably figure it out by themselves, and the speculation is Avs, Caps, Flyers and AK Barzan or whatever in Russia.

He said that he wants to finish his career in Sweden yes, but he never said that this league is too phyiscal for him. Hell, have you even seen him play? He's as physical as it gets, which, granted, is usually why he gets hurt, but he has never complained about the league being too physical or rough. I think I recall him being fed up with all the hookings back before all the rule changes but I think every single player apart from Derian Hatcher was fed up with that.

What the hell are you talking about, which team did he join half way through the season? All I remember is him re-joining the Avs a couple of years back at the end of the season for a pretty sweet discount. It's not like he's actually sitting around healthy looking for the best deal, he IS actually trying to mount a comeback. It's quite possible that the number of this comeback attempt is the same number he wears on his jersey, but that's not the point...

Hah, I'm quite sure that the article would be sounding very different if it had been some other paper than the Boston Globe... in any event, I'm a fan of the Rangers, but this just gave me a chuckle. I've always liked Chara, good in his own end, plays physical without being excessively dirty, and he helps on the offense as well.

The first one was an obvious dive and looks completely ridiculeous, but seriously... the other 2? First one with Esposito is just awful as he intentionally puts his leg out to bring Markstrom down. I could've easily avoided that contact. The 2nd one you can see the Canadian player actually going for the bodycheck, which is fine, but it's an interference as Markstrom is trying to get to the bench for the extra attacker, and the Canadian guy clearly moves away from the puck just to run into Markstrom.

But the first one is really, really sad :/.

Agreed, there's a difference between standing infront of the goalie annoying or distracting him, and run him over. Lundqvist in particular has had a lot of people just running him over. The strangest thing is that the players on the Ranger roster just let that happen. Man, I remember 10-15 years ago that if you so much as touched the goalie you could count on retaliation. Nowadays they can do whatever they want to with the goalie it seems.

The article doesn't really say what kind of "job" Moore was offered. First thought was that he offered Moore a contract as a player just to make a point (which would be pretty hardcore and low even for Burke), but then I thought he maybe actually offered him some kind of off-ice job within the organization. The last sentence indicate the he was offered a job as a player though...

Think it was a tactical move. By not budging about this at all during negotiations, it makes him look more willing to come to a conclusion than the NHL by doing it now. Balsillie most likely new that this would be a long drawn out fight, and it's time to pull the aces out of his sleeve now.

Just my thought. I'd be happy to see the team in Hamilton though.

It might just be me, but I don't think he's trying to blame it on the fact that he couldn't focus. In the sense he says it, I believe it's more something like "as my father was ill I wasn't really too motivated to put the time and effort in, my heart just wasn't with me on the ice". That's at least what I read when he says there's bigger and more important things to think about than ice hockey in a time like that, even though it is his job.

I might be wrong on this one, but didn't the fans of Winnipeg Jets try to raise money so they could help out the team to stay in Winnipeg? I can't swear on it, but anyway.. that's what the canadian people did to save their team, which is more than what, say, Florida Panthers fans would do.

Other than that, I kind of agree with you. To solely blame Bettman for ruining the NHL franchises in Canada is a bit far stretched, and it's not like canadian hockey is hurting, considering how well they've done internationally the last decade or so.

Apparently his foot feels good thus far, but it always feel good at the start, it's after a couple of weeks it starts to mess up.
