Why can't the super bowl be sponsered by companies with wholesome respectable products? Like Trojan Condoms........

Anybody remember when football was safe from this kind of crap? What's next? Britney Spears take on the Falcons coaching moves? Spare me......
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Snyder not sold on Fassel
That is true, with the exception being a situation where a coach is or has been coddling players or not being a strong enough leader. That is not the case with Gregg Williams I think. Williams may be an unfortunate victim of guilt by association. I think this happens to alot of good coaches and coordinators. When a coaching change occurs, ESPECIALLY if he's fired, there's a tendency by ownership/management to want to get rid of and/or shun any person who has or had ties with the departing coach/front office member. Most times it seems that a coach's success and/or reputation ultimately depends upon the success of the team and the rest of the staff he serves with. If a coach's style or demeanor is particularly easy going they tend to replace him with a coach who is a real drill sargeant or vice versa. And since most coaches fill out their staff positions with like minded individuals you end up with most owners wanting a clean slate.....
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Raiders interested in Berrian
He's got tons of talent and has seemingly the worst luck in the league. Out of the frying pan in Cincy and into the fire in New England! He's got the size, hands and body control to dominate smaller cornerbacks. Every team needs a guy like that to make the tough catches and keep the chains moving. Don't underestimate Bryant Johnson. He's been looked at as a disappointment since Arizona drafted him, but he made great strides this year, when an injury to either Boldin or Fitzgerald forced Johnson into the starting lineup he really stepped up his game. He's a burner and has decent size for the position too. If he went somewhere else and had a chance to start, I think he'd blossom. He has no ties to the current coaching staff so it probably wouldn't take much to get him.
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Raiders interested in Berrian
Berrian's ok, i guess, but they'd be better served by trying to get Bryant Johnson from Arizona, Mike Furrey from Detroit, Javon Walker from Denver, Brandon Lloyd from Washington and Chris Henry from Cincy. A real STEAL would be Kelly Washington from New England. Just like in Cincy where he was stuck behind 3 stars he's even more buried on the Patriots depth chart. he could be had for a song, like a 6 or 7th rd pick etc. Trust me, Kelley Washington has got the goods. When he gets his crack at a starting role he'll shine....
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Snyder not sold on Fassel
Fassel is a joke. I agree with that. Sometimes, guys turn their coaching careers around unexpectedly. Case in point being Dick Jauron. Buffalo's no playoff team yet but they're close. He's done better than I ever thought he would. most of the time though mediocre coaches stay that way. Fassel's not a TERRIBLE choice like, say, hiring the Lions assistant water boy, but it isn't an inspired choice, either. Say hello to 8-8, 7-9, 6-10 etc. The thing is, there were at least 15-20 guys out there who would have been better choices.....
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Snyder not sold on Fassel
If they want a young coach, go with Josh McDaniels or Brian Schottenheimer. If they're looking for a veteran head coach Marty Schottenheimer and Mike Sherman are the best choices. My first choices would be Russ Grimm, Mike Singletary, Rex Ryan, Marty Schottenheimer, Ted Cottrell, Monte Kiffin and Dom Capers. My Dark Horse candidate would be Dennis Green but he'd need to retain Gregg Williams or get Singletary or Ron Rivera to run the Defense to have success..............That being said, it goes without saying Snyder will probably screw the whole thing up.....
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Ravens want Ryan to return
If Rex Ryan doesn't get a Head Coaching job he oughtta come back.his players, scheme etc during his time in Baltimore have proven to be highly effective. Very little of the Ravens failings can be laid at Ryans feet. Though they could use an injection of youth, Ryan's defense is the only thing that kept this team competitive through the years of bad quarterback play, stale playcalling and injuries etc. Baltimore won't find any one better to replace him, so pay the man and get him back in the fold............
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Lions to focus on run in '08
Maybe. But until chickens, cows, pigs and fish become extinct I'll never know.........As for the Lions, I really think Marinelli is on to something. Martz is still a brilliant offensive mind, but seems to be too caught up in himself to listen to advice or take orders now. He had phenomenal success with the Rams but he had a more balanced attack then with Marshall Faulk. Marinelli's run first mantra is old school football, but it works. If the Lions can repair their defense and learn how to pound the friggin rock they'll be DANGEROUS. A strong run-first approach will suck defenders up to the line of scrimmage and soften defenses up, allowing Jon Kitna ample opportunity to stretch the field and make plays in the passing game by hooking up with Detroit's highly talented and extremely deep receiving corps. They DO need some O-line help this year though. I'm rooting for Detroit. As an Arizona Cardinals fan myself I know how tough it is to be a fan and be disappointed every year. I like Jon Kitna and Rod Marinelli so I'd love to see them turn things around....
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Top-rated QB commits to USC
USC's where everyone wants to go. If I were a high school QB with dreams of the NFL I WOULDN'T pick USC because there's too much competition there. Matt Cassel, Tom Brady's backup was a backup at USC his whole college career and was taken as a longshot 6 or 7th round pick. He's turned out to be a pretty good backup for Brady, which is something MANY college stars can't accomplish. Had he played for another team (one that gets at least SOME of the national attention that Hollywood U. gets) he surely would have had a stellar college career somewhere as a starter and consequently got picked on the first day of the draft. He'd be a much wealthier man and be starting or at least training for the job for another nfl team now. Instead he held a clipboard for Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart, etc at USC, and will do so in New England for the forseeable future. Mark Sanchez, Mitch Mustain and now Matt Barkley all have a chance to become the next one to repeat Matt Cassel's mistake. Why?
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Will 'Boys trade up for McFadden?
Look, Darren Mc Fadden is possibly the most dynamic running back to hit the draft in the last 5-10 years. He has NO real weak points. Great size, Speed Strength, vison etc. He catches well blocks adequately and even throws great too. Provided he lands with a decent team, with a good o-line and coach that uses him effectively, he'll have as good or greater an impact than Adrian Peterson did this year. If he went to Dallas, he'd become an instant star. He'd take MASSIVE amounts of pressure off of young Tony Romo and open up the passing game in a big way. He can handle heavy workloads and gets BETTER the more carries he gets. He could put the Cowboys in the Super Bowl his rookie season. Jerry Jones knows this because he's involved in Arkansas' football program and has had plenty of chances to observe D-Mac in action. He'd be worth the two 1st round picks and whatever other picks Dallas had to give up to get him.....

IMPOSSIBLE. TOM BRADY IS A ROBOT.
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Thomas' future uncertain in Miami
I think they'll keep him, unless Parcells decides to COMPLETELY blow up the team and start from scratch. If that happens a switch to the 3-4 is sure to happen, rendering Thomas obsolete. Otherwise, Parcells coached long enough to know the value a leader and competitor like Zach brings to the team both on the field and in the locker room, which will be invaluable to a team that looks to get younger very quickly....
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Dolphins No. 1 pick for sale
Trading out of that pick is the smart move. If Parcells hasn't burned all of his bridges in Dallas, he should be able to use his familiarity with their front office and get a deal done with Jerry Jones who, make no mistake, REALLY REALLY wants Darren McFadden. That'd be a win/win situation for both teams because Miami needs all the picks they can get, and Dallas NEEDS D-Mac who could get them over the hump and into the Super Bowl in his rookie year. He will have, if he lands on a decent team, as much impact (or more) than Adrian Peterson did this year. That's worth giving up your two first round picks for and Jerry Jones knows it.
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Dolphin leaves gun in wrecked truck
THIS JUST IN!!! Cincinnatti trades Miami 5 truckloads of cash for LB Channing Crowder!! Coach Marvin Lewis was quoted as saying he was "thrilled with the move" and that " Channing is our kind of guy and EXACTLY the kind of player we're looking for here: He loves getting arrested". The Bengals super bowl chances don't look too promising, but it is widely assumed that the team will relocate to an undisclosed facility and enter the OPFL, the young upstart, Ohio Prison Football League where they would instantly become the odds-on favorite to win the Prison Trophy, which is actually just a carton of cheap cigarettes and an old, used issue of JUGS magazine. Last year's Prison Trophy winning coach, Jimmy the Fish was unavailable for comment.

Sounds like one crazy Hoe-Bucket........
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Jones wants to be feature back
He'd be a good fit in Green Bay, Houston, Atlanta, Detroit and Maybe Cincinnatti..... Chicago may be interested, but Jones knows they'll platoon him with Cedric Benson, so they'd really have to come off the money to get him, and the same goes for Seattle and Miami. He can be a feature back, think Thomas Jones or Willis McGahee: good maybe, but not great and definitely not special enough to build a team around. Still, he'd be a significant improvement for some teams....
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Favre to decide soon whether to return
He's a competitor and this team is VERY CLOSE to being ready to take the Lombardi trophy back to Green Bay. Walking away now makes no sense if you have as much fun playing and still want another ring as bad as Favre seems to. He should have either quit 2 years ago or should wait till the Packers are in rebuilding mode again. He's getting an opportunity that few aged quarterbacks get at the end of their career: a REALLY GOOD chance to go out on top, with the trophy in his hand. I say stick around....
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Redskins to hire Fassel, coordinators
And what about Mike Singletary?!?!
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Redskins to hire Fassel, coordinators
I think Fassel is a so/so coach, but given the level of talent, FRESH talent still available in the coaching pool right now, I think Fassel is an uninspired choice. Rex AND Rob Ryan are ready to take the next step. Russ Grimm should have been mentioned, as well as Leslie Frazier, Ron Rivera and Brian Schottenheimer. What about Mike Singletary? Really, even waiting till after the super bowl to talk to Steve Spagnuolo and Josh MDaniels would have been better than hiring Fassel. He has been ready. If you were going to hire a retread, coaxing Marty Schottenheimer out of retirement would easily be the best option. Playoff losses aside, he has proven he knows how to win football games and build winning programs. Even retreads like Mike Martz and Dennis Green have proven they know how to build good offenses and Green has a good eye for young talent as evidenced by all of the talent on Arizona's roster now. Dom Capers, Mike Zimmer and Monte Kiffin KNOW defense, at least! Fassel's name would have been under A LOT of other names; coaches both employed and unemployed. I may be wrong, but I think they'll be hiring again in a couple of years....
