Now that's what I'm talkin about!
You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked!
You don't come in the OB playin that stuff!
You across the ocean over there!
You across the city!
You can't come across the
You should get your but beat!
I was about to go down the elevator and get in that thing!
#2: Pete Carroll supports a play-off system because he underachieves in the regular season! That's right, I said it! USC underachieves! Losing at home to Stanford??? Losing to OSU the last two road trips there? Even Reggie Bush and LenDale White needed a comeback against Fresno State! Pete Carroll just wants mulligans for his team of underachieving superstars!
#3: Money comes at the cost of ill-will and bickering? Give me a fraction of that money, and I'll deal with all the ill-will and bickering they can throw at me! Seriously, though: You need power conferences and lesser conferences in D1. That way, you can have David vs Goliath matchups, like Nebraska vs Ark State. And you get your classic matchups, like OU vs Texas. Without hype and storylines, your just another NFL, with boring, level playing fields, no true upsets, and 8-8 teams making the playoffs ahead of 11-5 teams!
Give me your home address so I can send a crow sometime soon!
8 or 9 years, and Ohio State will pass ND!
Oh, and I wasn't asking IF NU would pass ND, I was asking WHEN! Two years time? Three years? It's only a matter of time...
2. Texas: 832-320-34
3. Notre Dame: 831-285-42
4. Nebraska: 827-337-41
What's the over-under on how many years until Nebraska catches up to ND? Don't tell me it won't happen!
I spend ALOT of time going over documents in my line of work. Typically, when there is documentation missing it means someone has their hand in the cookie jar. Same with poor accounting.
I say: Good, I'd like to see a conference foe like this in hotter water. But I doubt it will happen.

I say: No way! Records are retained by large companies (I work for one) only as long as required by contract or law. After that, it's shred, delete, etc. You DON'T keep records longer than you must, or someone might find fault with them. Having no records is better than having records at all. 'Innocent until proven guilty' is relied upon here.
I think if they did have to sacrifice something real, like their NC, that would be great for college football. The NCAA would actually stand firm on their rules. Not going to happen. The NCAA is like any other business - rules are great when they earn you money, not so great when they cost you money. Punishing SoCal would be bad for business. NCAA would loose market share in LA, and less attention would be paid, less cash generated, etc.
You mean like the clear succession plan at NU, where Solich took over for Osborne? It only takes one loosing (or 7-7) season for the Athletic Director, Board or Regents, whoever oversees this stuff, to pull the plug. The tide turns against those guys too easily.
Oh, and that's a good point about FSU and PSU having decent recruiting classes. I guess I was just opining based on what I'd do as an athlete or parent, given my experiences. Admittedly, I'd sent my kid somewhere like ND, Stanford, someplace where the diploma looks real nice on a wall, and may get you into more doors than a state school.

I scanned it, and there's really just a lack of documentation that's at the heart of it. I don't think there's too much actual stealing of money, just poor accounting and so forth. People were just too busy to dot all the i's, I think.
I don't think there is more there than any other athletic department may have. (I'm looking at you, SoCal.)
To recruit well, you need to convince a kid (and his parents) that you'll be the coach for the foreseeable future, and that this kid fits into the program.
Without the foreseeable future part, I can see why older guys like JoePa, Bobby Bowden, etc, have trouble recruiting.
