Posted Monday July 07, 2008, About: Boston looking for long and short-term help
When I read the rumor, it says the Sox are looking at "prospects" at catcher and shortstop and immediate help in the bullpen and possibly to cover a loss of Papi for the season if his wrist needs surgery. I don's see Lugo being jetisoned mid season because there's no one better available.

As far as Lowrie goes, most scouts view him as a second baseman at the major league level, which might make him expendible.
Posted Monday July 07, 2008, About: Rays lead teams courting Fuentes
Fuentes could be this year's Eric Gagne.....the clutch pick up that almost blows his team's chance. He could just as easily get lit up by AL lineups as he could be effective.
Posted Monday July 07, 2008, About: With Sabathia gone, Cubs look to Harden
Do Cubs fans truely believe that their pitching staff is good enough to win a playoff series? It's not really about being able to hang on and win a division is it?
Posted Tuesday December 18, 2007, About: Phillies watch Benson throw
It speaks volumes about the lack of pitching in baseball that teams even consider signing a bum like Benson. And what's really sad is he'll make a ton of dough to be mediocre at best. Just imagine if he was left handed!
Posted Tuesday December 18, 2007, About: Cabrera's future with White Sox
There's no rush for the Red Sox to trade for Cabrera. Worse case is that the Pale Hose trade him somewhere else, and in that case Lugo is the bridge to Lowrie. Otherwise wait and see what happens with Santana, and then persue Cabrera closer to when camp opens if they still have the necessary pieces.
Posted Monday December 03, 2007, About: Cubs GM lining up trade bait
I'd trade Drew for a bucket of balls and a season's worth of sunflower seeds for Tito to chew on. And then put Ellsbury in RF.
Posted Thursday November 15, 2007, About: Did Boras hurt A-Rod's value?
Boras miscalculated both how much teams would be willing to pay as well as how many teams would even be interested in paying any amount. There are teams who already won't persue a Boras client. Now even those that will see an opportunity to circumvent him. Ultimately this may cause him to lose some clients and make others shy away from considering him in the future.

But he's not the only loser. So is Brian Cashman. After all, he said the Yankees would not negotiate with $-Rod after he opted out. And the Steinbrenners did the same end run around Cash as $-Rod did around Boras. The open ended question is when does Cashman walk away?
Posted Tuesday November 13, 2007, About: Lowell to Yankees, A-Rod to Sox?
If Mike Lowell leaves Boston, I expect the Sox to move Youk back to 3rd base and look for an option at first. Cabrera will cost too much in young talent. A-Rod costs to much period with no potential for any revenue increases to offset his enormous salary. There isn't another single ticket in Boston that he can help sell like he can out in California.
Posted Tuesday September 25, 2007, About: Why Bradley went off on ump
Umps need to be suspended for inappropriate conduct on the field the same as players. Too many umps think they are the show. They're not!!

That being said, how does someone get and stay so angry that they tear an ACL argueing? By being a nut job.
Posted Tuesday September 25, 2007, About: Lovie silent on Grossman's future
When the Bears sit Rex they'd be fools to replace him with Griese. He may keep them in games but that's all he'll do. When Rex moves to the bench the Bears need to see exactly what they have in Orton. Then they know just how quickly they need to jump on a QB in the next draft.
Posted Tuesday September 11, 2007, About: Pennington's status unknown
True sports fans know that you never cheer when anyone gets injured - even the star of the opponent. To boo your own when they get hurt is as low as it gets.

But hey, now the Jets have a camera man to video the opposing coaches this weekend. Mangenius always copies what his mentor does!!!!
Posted Tuesday September 11, 2007, About: Raiders sign Russell to $68 million deal
All that money for skipping camp and being useless for a whole year to a really bad team. BUnch of idiots paying that kind of money.
Posted Friday July 27, 2007, About: Teams want too much from Red Sox
Manny being Manny.........at 100 games is .303 23 doubles 17 homers and 64 rbi's. That's not quite Manny being Manny but I'll take it! Not to mention 7 assists.
Posted Friday July 27, 2007, About: Cubs get in line for D-Ray
Why is he constantly linked to the Red Sox? He's Eric Hinske part deux.
Posted Friday July 27, 2007, About: A-Rod could hit 500th HR...twice
I hope he does not hit one in the completion game. 500 home runs should be appropriately celebrated.
Posted Friday July 27, 2007, About: Teixeira or bust for Angels?
I can't see this happening. Why would the Rangers trade Tex for Kotchman without also getting some pitching help? And with Colon on the DL again, can the Angels afford to move any pitchers? Seems to me that the Braves can put together a much better package for Tex.
Posted Monday July 23, 2007, About: NL exec: D-Train 'going down'
D-Train's last few starts remind me of Oil Can Boyd at the end of his career...more show than anything else. Is it possible that he's washed up this young?
Posted Monday July 23, 2007, About: Angels GM seeks bigtime deal
What amazes me the most is that a player like Adam Dunn qualifies as a bigtime deal. Sorry but that's not a bigtime move in my book.
Posted Thursday July 19, 2007, About: Never say Dye to Red Sox
wtf is a pennet? and more importantly, where can I buy one?

This one is priceless!!!!!!! Also more evidence that there should be a literacy test requirement before you can purchase a computer.
Posted Tuesday June 19, 2007, About: Cubs' Lee to appeal suspension
Everyone appeals their suspensions because it gets them (a) reduced or (b) set to begin an a more opportune time. And everyone will keep on appealing them until MLB says "you charged the mound, threw the first punch and are now wasting our time. So we increase the length of your suspension".
Posted Tuesday June 19, 2007, About: Baker, Johnson to interview with O's
I can't picture Dusty Baker working for Peter Angelos. I can't picture Davey Johnson working in the major leagues again. The O's need someone young and fresh, but it looks like they will recycle the old guys again.
