I know what would happen if they got in a "real" fight:

Kobe would take a shot to the chin fairly unphased, not retaliate, and the Young Fella would sit his ass on the bench another half a season. This guy is already delusional enough to think he's as good as Kobe when hes more along the lines of a derek anderson, kuttino mobley, or doug christie with less D. Talent alone hes more than serviceable, but too much of a self-absorbed idiot to make much of it. What contender is going to want this guy? He is the becoming of everything we worry about Artest doing.

And calling out Kobe has not worked out well for anyone Ive seen, sans Paul pierce maybe.

no doubt. i agree fully. if he ends up going to houston, or minnesota, or the damn moon, he's still a pro basketball player. if he can't handle having to play ball for millions and have himself financially set for life before age 35 in a city he'd rather not play in- i'm sure the local orlando garbage/recycling company or maybe safeway would hire him to keep his dream of living in orlando alive...

Shaq is a top 5 center of all time. It was annoying seeing him half **** it on eht boards and on D his last 3 years in LA, but that just makes it more incredible that he could settle for "good enough" and be a dominant force.

If Shaq hadn't had such a lazy phase with the Lakers this might be more appealing. I guess I don't trust Shaq to put forth full effort, and I trust Odom to at least play hard. Odom disappered against the Celtics, but killed it in the Western Conf if I remember right. Shaq kind of sucked balls against Detroit in 04' too. He got a championship after, but come on.. the Mavs folded like a lawn chair.

true, but I prefer Odom because of his intangibles, I have no supporting stats, but I think Odom plays harder and makes his teammates better. Maybe shaq's stats are better because he starts? Odom's last 3 games have seen rebounding numbers of 17, 18, then 19, and he was a top 10 rebounder every year with LA (besides this year)

I hear you on the Eddie Jones comparison. He's an all-time fav Laker of mine and it hurt how he'd disappear (badly against the Jazz i remember)

I just keep remembering being frustrated by Shaq's lack of effort his last couple years in LA and don't trust that he's gotten any better (watch shots go up and make little/no effort to get rebound position)... and the free throws... oh god, the free throws.

I wouldn't trade odom for amare straight across. amare is a beast in the middle (offensively) and the lakers have plenty of that already. odom is not the post presence amare is, but he does pretty much everything else as well or better... i just don't like the idea of getting a player known for not being a good defender... i'd rather the lakers got someone like kurt thomas or brian skinner. 10-15 minutes of toughness per game is all they need.

defense is more of a team game than a bunch of individual efforts... if his guys don't want to play d, he gets payed all those millions to make it happen... Phoenix was atrocious defensively and had VERY GOOD defenders (marion, raja bell, kurt thomas) His players love his "**** it, shoot it" mentality. He has obvious issues motivating teams. Its not like he's just had bad luck and only had bad defenders on his teams. get real.

i watched the game and din't really see the other Lakers getting open. Utah played a hell of an OT session by making Bryant try to beat them, much like detroit treats Lebron.
