I agree an upgrade is needed, but why do they have to tear the current one down? Why cant they keep it intact and leave Monument park there, and just use it as a true Museum of Yankees Baseball? That way some revenue can be generated to offset the cost of the new stadium.
As a lifelong Yankees fan, who happens to be 23 and only around for the latter part fo Donnie baseball,a nd all of Jeter's tenure, that place holds a special place in my heart. Of course I would hate to see it go, but the upgrade is needed. However, I think it is too great of an AMERICAN sports landmark (with all the other non-baseball events that took place there) to tear it down.
