I've never been a big fan of hers, but I'll give her a lot of credit for stepping up her game and focusing on playing golf rather than trying to make a name for herself with that men's tour stunt. Best thing that ever happened to her was the Solheim group keeping her parents away from her during that event. Dang, if she keeps up the good play, she may finally live up to the hype and become one of the top players on the tour!

Until the series ended (for now...) in about 2007, Air Force pretty much owned ND, including hanging 52 on them IN SOUTH BEND. Navy spanked 'em good a couple times, too. Don't lump the service academies in with the JV teams regularly on the ND schedule.

Oh, and another poster mentioned Utah -- does anyone really think the Irish want anything to do with Utah, Boise State or other such upstarts? Nah, didn't think so....

Using SJ as an example, will the fan base still be there if the teams has a few losing seasons? It's not a criticism of the Shark fan base. It's just that a few winning seasons can put butts in the seats but those butts have to be there in down years. The Yotes haven't had that stretch of winning years to see what they can do attendance-wise, and that's where management has to take the blame.

Look at the Avalanche -- strong sell-out support for the team as long as it was winning consistently. The last few seasons, attendance has dropped steadily along with the win total. Thank goodness for this season's miracle start, otherwise the franchise would be wallowing around 12,500-13,000 paid. Of course, thanks to the schedule-makers, the Avs are playing 11 of their first 15 on the road. But the 9-1-2 start has people excited about the Avs again, and it should translate to people heading to the barn.

I know you don't like the guy, Jon, but can you at least give him credit for apparently getting his act together, both on the course, and more importantly, health-wise? Granted, he may have blown his prime years with his behavior, but there must be some props for making something good out of what his life had become. Can you, me, or any other poster on here honestly say we never got a second chance at something and made the best of it?

I know it's easy to dislike the guy -- he DID squander away a lot of quality career time with his lifestyle. As a fan of his before the downslide, I was ticked off by it and yes, admittedly quit caring about him. But I like how he has managed to turn it around after he hit bottom. Will he stick with it? Only time will tell. I, for one, am willing to give the guy a chance.

I wish they'd stop using the word "expansion" in their freaking headlines. It's NOT expansion to move teams. Moving teams to more lucrative markets would be a smart thing to do, whereas "expansion" as accurately defined would be the death of the NHL.
