At West Virginia or Texas A&M, it's stratospheric. Anywhere else, it's mediocre (that's an SAT word meaning piddlin').

Do you know anything about Texas A&M? Or that it's one of the top 20 (private and public) engineering schools in the country, with the civil, industrial, agricultural, and petroleum specialties being ranked in the top 10 in the country?

Where did you get your worthless music degree from?

All i gotta say is HOOK EM!

Austin is the best place in the world for any college recruit looking for a gorgeous campus with beautiful women, stellar academics and unmatched athletic dominance. If he isn't smart enough to realize that, then he doesn't deserve the honor to don the burnt orange!

Anybody else see this as a move to counter the Chris Paul Hornets??? While I'd like to see Yue (or whatever that Asian guy's name is) get some more playing time, it can't hurt to have a speedy ball hawk who could also drain the trey. Mihm is useles.... and that hurts to say cause he was once a Longorn!

Posted Thursday June 19, 2008, About: Cuban rips NBA Olympians
Wow Mark, TV broadcasting companies want to make money?!?!? Who knew?!? For those of you who don't know, NBC pays over $1.2 billion in rights fees to be able to broadcast the Summer Olympic games (winter is around $820 mill). NBC then has the right to use the Olympic logo and sell ad space, etc. So....As Mark Cuban implied, there are about 1.2 billion reasons why the Olympics are ALL about the MONEY.

One point where I do disagree- most NBA players (exception- Team China) who play for their country generally due so because they feel that is their patriotic duty to represent their country. Kobe, Lebron, Wade and Carmelo all sighted this as one of their primary reasons for joining the USA.

While Cuban may be right in that, as their employer, he should have a say in their actions which could directly affect his company/team, he misses the fact that players will play regardless of contract year or contract level. They do so for the thrill of patriotic triumph; the Olympic committee and TV networks do it for the money.
Posted Tuesday March 18, 2008, About: NCAA reselling tourney tickets
Have you seen ticket prices for top college programs these days? You almost have to go to a school with a loser of an athletic program to watch the games in person!!!

Riddy | 03/18/08, 11:47 AM

Not true- I go to the University of Texas. To see any sporting event outside of foortball, it is $70 for the entire year. This does not guarantee you a seat at every NCAA event, but if you go to the game at a reasonable time (30 min before for everything but mens basketball conference games), you will be able to get a great seat. If you want a guaranteed (and assigned) seat at a football game, it is only an additional $60 for the entire season.
Posted Sunday February 10, 2008, About: What Orioles want for Roberts
The Orioles might have the worst team in the league this yr, but w/in 5 years, they will be atop their division....yes, over the Yanks and Red Sox. The Os are finally rebuilding the right way, and as a lifelong Os fan, I couldn't be happier.

Please, no bandwagon jumpers
Posted Friday February 08, 2008, About: Why Scott stiffed Longhorns
Texas will not miss him. Scott would have been lucky to put on the Longhorns uniform. As a Longhorn, I am just insulted that he chose to attend an inferior school on all accounts. He could have had so much more.
Posted Thursday February 07, 2008, About: Why Scott stiffed Longhorns
longhorn0420: while i agree davis should be axed for applewhite, I don't think that will happen for at least 2 more years. for whatever reason, mack seems to love greg davis. However, with davis at OC, I can tell you right now the first offensive play of every game this upcoming season (WR screen) it's just unfortunate that such a great program can have such a bad playcaller.

But, as terracota warrior said, I don't think Scott really chose Colorado over Texas w/o some other incentive. What that could be, idk....Austin is better than Boulder or wherever the hell that place is in everyway, and the women here are gorgeous. The parties are insane, and football is a tradition. My feeling is some big time money exchanged hands, probably including a house, a bag of cash and a couple jobs.

Alright Scott, you have 2 years to prove your worth against us: at CU this year, and in ours in 09....god knows we won't ever see you in the Big 12 Championship.

I bet those recruiting parties are still pretty entertaining!

Posted Saturday June 09, 2007, About: Odom hears Lakers trade rumors
I really hope that these are just "rumors." 3 years ago, I would have loved to have O'Neal on my team, but not anymore. He is more inconsistent than Odom, has a short temper and hasn't gotten along with any coach he has had in the NBA. Plus, the triangle offense is based on a point-forward, which Odom is the ideal.

Garnett is a different story, but even putting him in the same sentence with O'Neal is an unjustice. Add in a potential star in Bynum and you have the making of an extremely lopsided trade. There is a reason Indi is shopping O'Neal, and no logical reason why the Lakers should entertain this trade.
Posted Friday June 08, 2007, About: Oden's numbers blow Durant away
Quickness and speed DOES matter for a center- in an uptempo offense. On a team like the Suns, Oden could avg 20 and 15.

ON DURANT- I go to school at UT AUSTIN (the Longhorns) and I watched Durant play in person/ talked to the managers of the UT basketball team. Durant is just a baller....a straight up, no whining, workhorse that will do whatever it takes to put the ball in the hoop. He works on his game relentlessly and fine tunes any imperfection. If anyone questions his athleticism, I hope you check out some of the videos from this past year- Durant would blow by people and just dunk ON THEM. He has no fear, and I am not one bit worried about his strength.

I will be the first to say that Durant does not possess amazing quickness, he uses his extreme length instead to seperate and gain a step on defenders.

To those of you that were talking about how NBA defenders will be too strong for him- I dont doubt there will be a learning curve, but it wasnt like Durant played in the MACC or Big Sky. In the Big 12, Durant most comonly drew a Bruce Bowen-type defender: generally around 6 4-6 7 and 220. Plus, he would be double teamed relentlessly.

I have no problem saying that if Portland passes on Durant, they will regret it. Durant is simply the better basketball player.
Posted Saturday May 26, 2007, About: Did Oden ask Blazers to draft Conley?
One additional note: Conley is projected to go in the top 5 in the draft. Does anyone here really think that he is that special of a player, to warrant a top 5 pick in the most loaded draft since 96-97? Conley is a hard worker, and a great defensive player, but his offensive game is unpolished, and his jump shot needs a lot of work.

To get Conley, the Blazers would likely have to trade Randolph and another 1st rd pick in a later year. This would get rid of the possibility of trading for Lewis (the Blazers do not have enough cap space to sign him outright). So essentially, if the Blazers were to trade away Randolph, they could only have Lewis OR Conley. There is no question in my mind that Lewis is a superior player now, and will be for the rest of his career.
Posted Saturday May 26, 2007, About: Did Oden ask Blazers to draft Conley?
Does anyone here realize that randolph averaged 23 and 10 last season? Oden will not average 20+ for more than 3 years, ie. Oden is not an immediate upgrade over Randolph. Maybe in 3 years, but no one can say that the Blazers will go from the lottery to the playoffs in 1 yr (unless they sign Lewis).

On the Conley note: If Oden really requested that to management, I have lost a lot of respect for him. Not only will the veterans be angry with him, but the 3 guards listed earlier will feel cheated/dissed by the new rook. Stars deserve the right to make requests for the betterment of their team, ie. Kobe Bryant this offseason, but Oden is NOT a star yet. He is simply a rookie, and if he asked the management to make a deal to get Conley, he is being extremely selfish and not being mindful of the core already set up.
