It worked in the old Original Six. The Norris Family owned both the Red Wings and the Black Hawks, and I believe had minor ownership in the Rangers. That's why people jokingly referred to the NHL as the Norris House League.

I think he's more suited to be the Commisioner of the NHL (one can only hope). He's more of a manager type than a union type.

I would be cautiously hopeful about Kessel. Hasn't he already battled cancer? He also comes to the Leafs and is immediately shelved for injury reasons. He sounds to me like an expensive car which spends more time in the shop than in the driveway. Gustavson is starting to look that way too. I hope he doesn't pull a groin in the first minutes of tonight's game.

Unfortunately, Gainey didn' get rid of all of the players whose names start with "K" like I suggested last year. He kept these clowns, and one has an attitude problem, and the other one can't find the net. Oh well...

I have Google too, and according to the attendence website, in 2006-07, Phoenix had an average attendence of 14,988 and the Boston Bruins had and average attendence of 14,764. These numbers mean nothing. How many of the Coyotes tickets were thrown in as the bonus with a Happy Meal? Number can be manipulated to say anything you want to believe.

The meeting with the mayor of Quebec is all smoke and mirrors. Bettman wants to make it look like he cares about Canada. He wants expansion franchises in Hamilton, Quebec and Winnepeg because he can get outragious expansion fees out of these places and the rest of the pigs at the trough can divide the instant revenue. Bettman can then say, "see, the league is making money." If he really knew what he was doing, he would just allow current franchises which are failing (see any team south of the Mason-Dixon Line) to relocate. Not only would Canadian cities get teams, but you might give places like Milwaukee and Portland a shot to put their money where their mouths are.

Trust me, all I could understand was "les tire..les but!" (the shot... the goal). I understood it because I heard it a lot in the 70's. ;). as far as the Sabres, Buffalo was too far away for me to care, and they beat the Habs in '75 to make it to the Finals.

Yes, but you can understand my frustration at having to choose between Laffs games on CBC on Saturday night or the Dead Things on channel 50. Thank God we finally had CBC Francais late in the 70's.
