Donnan, in addition to losing to Tech, was not successful against UT or UF either.
However, his greatest sin was in the way he treated the big money alums. Even on his call-in show he would talk down to callers with a "what do you know about football" attitude--heck almost saying as much. The call in show was a train wreck. It made for riveting radio.
Richt is safe.
Also, his throwing mechanics look terrible. Florida overhauled Tebow's throwing motion. I suggest Tressel call on the biomechanics folks at Ohio State for some help there--although Pryor also needs help with his footwork.
Pryor has not lived up to the hype. Maybe he made a bad choice in choosing Ohio State and maybe Ohio State made a bad choice with Pryor.
The bad part is that they will do this dance and Gruden will decline and then the fellow that is hired will be seen as the second (or worse) choice. Not a good way to go.
I thought the idea was to win and use your personnel in the best way possible to reach that end.
I read the AJC story where it referenced his use of the third person, then all the quotes were in the first person. I found that humorous.
Let the kid go where he wants to go. A lot of SEC are more rural than say PAC-10 schools, big deal.
That said, do not stand in their way. That said, I also think a league should be able to institute its own rules for eligibility. If the NFL passed a rule saying only those with a college degree could play, then I would be okay with that as well.
Go with him, but I would bring in an assistant coach as "coach in waiting" to learn the ropes.
What happens to a kid who is home schooled and has no graduating class? When can he get drafted? What happens if a kid (and this would be a rarity) skips a grade when he is young? What is his graduating class?
As bad as public schools are, is he going to miss much? High school prom--way overrated. If prom was the best day of your life, you either just finished HS or, well you can figure it out.
Maybe if enough kids do this, the NBA will scrap its stupid rule.
Living overseas can be a really cool experience if a person is willing to give it a legit chance. I have spent several weeks in Europe (and not the glamorous spots either). I wish I had had the chance when I was young.
As for the comment about the NBA forgetting about him, I am not an NBA follower but I believe something like 20% of the players are from overseas. It seems like the NBA was a pretty sophisticated scouting structure.
BTW, this is the AD's first major coaching hire. Not sure how you can toss him in with Adams. Apparently Adams stayed out of this whole mess.
BTW, Juan, Harrick was not a decent hire. I have witnesses to me stating he was going to be bad news (one witness is a UCLA alum who agreed with me).
To "The Unit": none of the people you mentioned were ever seriously considered nor should they have been. Coaching in the pros and coaching in college are different things. What career pro coach has done well as a college coach? What career college coach has done well as a pro coach?
Go Dawgs
I bet Stafford is praying not to be selected by the Lions. While it might cost him some money, going to a better team would be better in the long run.
