I think it's a great thing for the game. To hell with Bettman. I hope every team employs a heavyweight. Maybe then we will see a return to tough, physical hockey and not this Euro crap hockey we have to watch now.

I'm with Tribe 13. Bettman is to blame for a lot of the attendance issues.

Too many teams + New rules = boring hockey.

Red Wing-Blackhawk games used to be wars. Whether they played in the Joe or Chicago Stadium, the games were physical, nasty and the fans loved it. Now you could fall asleep with the ice capade hockey Bettman has brought in.
Posted Tuesday October 09, 2007, About: Crosby: Reebok's sweaters all wet
Once again Go Canada, you are the voice of reason. Being a traditionalist and a collector of sweaters, I think the new jerseys suck. They reek yet again of Bettman trying to screw tradition and put his mark on the game. It was done for one reason and one reason only - money.

Of course the brain surgeons at Reebok would've thought to fully test the spandex before rolling it out to the teams. God forbid, that would make sense.

I HATE the new jerseys and designs. The Flyers jerseys look like freaking pajama's. To the Flyers players credit, the team is now ordering the jerseys 2 sizes bigger to provide a looser fit. So much for Bettman's Euro Hockey and ice capcades.
Posted Tuesday October 09, 2007, About: Panthers: Luongo trade worst ever
I think it would definitely qualify. Any time you trade a world class goaltender, you often don't get back equal value in return. It happened with Roy who went on to win a Cup with the Avs and it could happen with Luongo.

The guys is an absolute stud, routinely turning in save % in the 90's while facing over 40 -50 shots a game with some pitiful Panther teams. He is someone who can carry a good team to greatness.

How this guy was traded twice (Isles and Panthers) amazes me.

Good for Sutter. I love the fact the Debs have a coach in there that won't kiss Lou's rear end. It's about time someone did. Why would the players have an issue after starting out the season in a lowly fashion? They need to get over and play hockey.

As a Flyers fan, I love seeing the turmoil in the hood (aka formerly swamp). As a hockey fan I love seeing a possible change to Devils hockey. Watching the Flyers play Edmonton was a breath of fresh air. Up and down hockey, lots of good hits and NO TRAP. It was the way hockey was supposed to be played.

I love it. More egg on the face of the Militant Midget. I guess he will personally get involved to save another one of his small market blunders. The sooner this assclown gets booted out the better the game will be. His decisions and more importantly his ego is destroying the game.

Maybe he will push to move the team to Toledo. I would love to see Balsillie get involved here and move them to Southern Ontario to bitslap Bettman in the face.
Posted Tuesday October 09, 2007, About: Rangers want Phoenix defenseman
I agree with you Check It Out. While I am a die hard Flyer and hockey fan, my love of the game overall makes me want the big market teams to be successful as the sport benefits.

I miss the old days when Flyers-Ranger, Flyers-Bruins, Detroit-Chicago actually meant something. I have a much harder time getting geared up when the Flyers play Columbus or Florida.
Posted Thursday October 04, 2007, About: Flyers make room for Forsberg
As a lifelong Flyers fan, I was sick of the drama last season with the will he, won't he soap opera.

That being said, if healthy he is still an excellent player and if healthy and brought back mid-season he would be a welcome addition to the team. I would try to do a 2 year deal (cap permitting) so that it is not a 6 month term.

My only concern is that is the Flyers are playing well and in the playoff hunt that his return could disrupt chemistry.
Posted Thursday October 04, 2007, About: K.C. back in Predators' picture
DCruiser, I'm with you. Balsillie definitely has the money and with the MSG suit against the Militant Midget, another one might help to oust his ****.

There is NO legal or legitimate reason why Bettman should have gotten involved in blocking the sale to Balsillie. He has the financing, he had the credit, etc. How you can deny a sale of a franchise to one person and then sell to another for less money is a joke and probably illegal. Balsillie should be having his attorneys draw up the paperwork.

Bettman knew Balsillie would have the legal right to move the team to Canada after this season and tried to block it plain and simple. The fact the new deal was for less money and ultimately involved what essentially is a handshake agreement to move the team to Kansas City is wrong.

Bottom line is the assclown Bettman does not want teams moving to Canada and this proves it. I would just hope the facts would be enough that Balsillie might be able to use his Canadian citizenship in his favor and that Bettman discriminated against him because of him being Canadian and not wanting a team to move there.
Posted Monday October 01, 2007, About: Rangers threatening Bettman's reign
As a lifelong Flyer Fan and Ranger hater, if they could win and get rid of the assclown, I would be forever in their debt and might purchase a jersey (the old traditional ones and not the Bettman sellout) in their honor.
Posted Monday October 01, 2007, About: Penguins to open in Prague
Will someone just get rid of this idiot!!! He took over the league when it was at it's peak and has since run it into the ground. His expansion has sucked in the states with a good portion of the teams in markets with no interest in supporting the franchises and now he wants to go overseas?

His expansion, new jerseys, rules, "No Hit League", etc.

The only good part of the weekends games were that the fans in England cheered the loudest for the hitting and fighting. Of course assclown would never acknowledge it.
Posted Monday October 01, 2007, About: Ducks captain critical of Europe trip
I'm glad Pronger had the testicular fortitude to speak out against what was a joke. It's nice to see that not are humbled but the Militant Midget's greatness.

ESPN and other media outlets were joking about it saying that Bettman should worry about the games decline in the states let alone going to Europe.

It just amazes me this idiot still has a job and the owners protect him, especially after the Balsillie fiasco.
Posted Friday September 28, 2007, About: Senators upset with Flyer's hit
Thank you groundpounder for taking the time to look at the hit realistically. If you watch the hit frame by frame you can see he barely leaves his feet, has his arms in tight and unlike Joe C who is being unrealistic, does not go for his head.

He did what any other physical hockey player in the league would do if he caught a player with his head down, he leveled him.

Joe C, do you think Chris Neil would have not hit him? He would've done the same damn thing.

If he is suspended (and he probably will be due to all the crying up North), it should be no more then 3 - 5 games.
Posted Thursday September 27, 2007, About: Crosby's recurring groin injury
Durk Diggler did put in perspective when he said he isn't a villain character like Barry Bonds.

He is a fantastic player but being a Flyers fan, I can't stand him. Had he not played for a rival (both in state and division) I would be much less critical of him.

Being a die hard hockey fan, he is what the league needs as a poster boy for the sport.
Posted Wednesday September 26, 2007, About: Fisticuffs for Rangers-Isles rematch
I was so happy to see this. The return of old time hockey. Fast, physical, rivalry hating hockey. It appears to be on the rise in preseason and I hope the trend continues.

Unfortunately Bettman hates that type of thing as he thinks were are disgusted with it.
Posted Tuesday September 25, 2007, About: Crosby's recurring groin injury
He must have tweaked it putting in his tampon.
Posted Tuesday September 25, 2007, About: Hollweg won't accept Simon's apology
Screw Hollweg. It's not like he has never done any questionable hits in his borderline AHL career. He had a couple of dangerous boarding hits against the Flyers before and his hit on Simon was borderline. I think that if Simon saw that it was anyone other then Hollweg it wouldn't have happened. Not that I condone Simon's actions but I consider that Hollweg is no angel either.
Posted Monday September 24, 2007, About: Penguins not going anywhere
This is a joke and as a Pennsylvania taxpayer who will help foot the bill I am outraged.

Granted I am a Philadelphian but the team has been in financial trouble and couldn't draw flies if they were covered in garbage prior to Crosby. They should've signed a 10 year lease because once Crosby is gone and the team struggles, they will have trouble selling out the Igloo (new) and be in the same situation they were in prior to Crosby.
Posted Monday September 24, 2007, About: Penguins question new sweaters
They are not the only team to complain about the new jerseys. Several Philadelphia Flyers players hate how snug the new jerseys are and the team is now ordering the jersey two sizes bigger so they hang like a sweater. So much for the militant midgets new form fitting jerseys.
Posted Monday September 24, 2007, About: Sutter changing Devils approach
It doesn't matter what they do to change their style, if it isn't working and they are struggling they will go right back to the trap.

They need to do something to draw fans to Newark. How this team still exists is beyond me as they don't draw jack. They build a new arena in the projects, seriously jack up prices and expect to draw?

Look for the Devils to be the next team that is in financial difficulty in Bettman's new NHL
Posted Monday September 24, 2007, About: NHL discusses expansion
Pop King said it best. The game is dying and they are trying to force the game down people's throats who could care less about hockey.

Hasn't the league already seen the impact that Bettman's expansion has created? Prior to his expansion craze, the league's popularity was at all time high. He started putting teams all over the damn country which led to the trap, a diluted product, and teams in financial trouble.

Instead of expanding the league they seriously need to contract the league and eliminate several bad markets, many expansion teams from Bettman. They should move Florida to either Quebec or Winnipeg. Instead they block a move by Balsillie because the midget has a side deal with Nashville and doesn't want a team to move to Canada despite there being NO negative connotations associated with the move.

Are the owners that strapped for cash that they will greedily suck up the expansion fees despite the impact on the game?
