Posted Sunday November 22, 2009, About: Firing Mangino could be costly
See Clem Haskins and the University of Minnesota for a similar scenario. It's happened before.
Posted Friday November 20, 2009, About: Mangino calls out accusers
Throw in Phil Fulmer for good measure. :P

That's why they sponsor cycling teams. The benefits of the meds double as a kickstand :p

Sometimes being "100% behind somebody" means they're in an ideal spot to push them off the cliff....

I'd say it's more the economy than the on-ice product.
Posted Thursday November 19, 2009, About: Browns getting desperate?
The other operative word is "other," as in "other qualified candidates." That implies they have qualified ones thus far.
Posted Thursday November 19, 2009, About: Shanahan on Bills list
I'm sure the big coaching names are on the list. Of course, the Bills will offer them $1 mill a year, and they'll be off the list really fast.
Posted Monday November 16, 2009, About: Stewart: Earnhardt a 'no talent (expletive)'
Let's see... four drivers for Hendrick; three of them are #1, #2, and #3 in points going into the final race.

And then there's Junior.

'Nuff said.
Posted Monday November 16, 2009, About: USC sticking with Barkley
Maybe Mustain can transfer somewhere else again....
Posted Sunday November 15, 2009, About: Oregon hiding behind federal law?
I have an idea for how to use Mr. Blount.

Keep having him ride the pine in a game until Oregon has a good lead. Then have him get his chance at RB. Hand off the ball to him with (wink wink nudge nudge) instructions to to O-line not to block the defense. Repeat for three downs, then punt. Sit him back on the bench and see if the lesson sinks in.
Posted Saturday November 14, 2009, About: Ochocinco fans mail mustard to Steelers
I wonder if it was Heinz mustard instead of French's.
Posted Friday November 13, 2009, About: Victim: Arrested Vols should play
If the players keep committing crimes, they'll be the ones on probation, not the school.

(Disclaimer: the students in question are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.)

(Point of order: I ain't a court of law!)
Posted Friday November 13, 2009, About: Minnesota busing to Iowa
This sounds like the same whininess that the press (note I didn't say the team) had about Miami's taking the bus to Orlando to play UCF instead of flying.

Besides, have you seen airfares out of Minneapolis/St. Paul, especially since the Northwest Airlines merger? It's outrageous!

Posted Wednesday November 11, 2009, About: Weis won't discuss job future
Caption for picture:

"$10 yard long!!!"

And, BTW, I agree -- stupid question to ask at a press conference, and what ther @#(#* did you think he was going to say? "My**** is grass in a few weeks"?!?!
Posted Monday November 09, 2009, About: Weis putting blame on Irish players?
As a longtime Bama fan, I can remember Coach Bryant's usual schtick after a loss was that it was the coaches' fault, starting with him. "We didn't prepare well enough" was the phrase most often used.

That's a line you dont' hear too often anymore.
Posted Monday November 09, 2009, About: Navy loss a deal-breaker for Weis?
Now if someone can photoshop a ND sweater over JRM74's image in #13.....
Posted Thursday November 05, 2009, About: Buckeyes to don throwback uniforms
At least Oregon's unis look respectable this year. It could be worse - it seems like Virginia Tech comes out with some ultra-ugly uniform every year for Nike (look at what they wore last Thursday when they lost to UNC for an example).
Posted Wednesday November 04, 2009, About: Oregon wants Blount reinstated
Be careful what you wish for, Oregon.

One game with him, a loss.

Rest of the season without him, undefeated.
Posted Friday October 30, 2009, About: How Jacksonville kept UGA-Florida game
I don't see how Florida would have agreed to a move to Atlanta - it's far too close to Athens (and much farther from Gainesville).

Besides, how do you tailgate at the Atlanta Dome?
Posted Tuesday October 27, 2009, About: Another SEC coach rips officials
As GoPSULions noted, the SEC, like most conferences, have a gag rule. And usually they get a letter from the SEC office about such comments (as Lane Kifflin called it, "one of those letters that mean nothing, that Bobby (Pe??trino) got last week.")

Until the league starts suspending some coaches for it, though, nothing will happen. Kifflin's on the verge, though, given this is his second rebuke from the SEC office since he got there.
