I agree. This type of group is going to tbe the future of the NBA. AAU players who bounced from team-to-team in hopes of getting exposure. Being told that they are great when they are dunking on 16 year olds with acne and a fake ID. Then bailing on college after 1 uninspiring year because they will still have "potential."
Scioscia got a free pass because the Angels finished the season with the best record in baseball after Trout was brought up. Couple that with the fact that they had a better record than the AL team that actually went to the WS. I think he'll be OK
How the hell is Flynn better than Palmer? Palmer was the only bright spot for the Raiders last season. He had zero o-line, zero running game, zero receivers, almost zero on defense and he threw for over 4,000 yeards. What, exactly has Flynn done? One 400 yard game for a stacked Green bay team? Put him on Oakland and he won't last 6 games.
Scioscia is absolutely safe. After Mike Trout came up, they had the best record in baseball. Their starting picthing wasn't great (Haren and Santana had awful years) and their bullpen was worse and yet they still had a better record than the team that went to (and lost) the World Series.
...and the fact that almost every team in MLB would fire their managers immediately to hire Scioscia makes him pretty safe in Anaheim.
That's ridiculous. Palmer is the only one on Oakland's roster who can actually play football. He's all alone on offense, they can't run the ball, they can't protect him, and yet he's throwing for 4,000 yards out of sheer necessity.
The Angels should take a "wait and see" attitude with Trout. Terrific rookie season, if he keeps those numbers and he will make $25 mil a year in no time.
Sorry, Trout, you have to do it again before people will take you seriously. Ask Jason Heyward.
Maybe, these guys (one and done's) should stay in school a little longer and..I don't know...develop their game. The NBA is full of super-athletic, undeveloped, players who left early for the money.
I get it, if the money's there they should go, but the overall NBA is really suffering.
This team needs a hammer. Someone to control the locker room. Be a hard ass. The Angels best years were when they had Percival and Darin Erstad as their locker room tough guys. They provided tough leadership when they needed it most.
Vlad and Torii lead, but wanted to be liked more than feared.
Again, Palmer is the least of the Raiders problems. If they could give him more than 2 seconds to get rid of the ball, he can be very effective. There were games where he had a defender gettting to him before he took his second step.
He was their entire offense. They had some good RB's and yet they couldn't sustain a running game. Why? Play calling? No the offensive line was horrible. Pryor had some success, but he was running for his life, not dropping back and reading the defense.
Wait, I had to look up Palmers numbers from last year to see how bad he was.
On this garbage team (Raiders) with no offensive line and a terrible defense, he completed 60% of his passes for over 4,000 yards and had as many TD passes as the guy who won the Super Bowl.
I'm pretty sure that Palmer is not the problem in Oakland.
Why does Kevin Durant get ignored in these conversations? His stats are just as good as LeBrons. His team is just as good as LeBrons and ESPN is doing 20 minutes on LeBrons greatness and how there is no one like him. Way too much kiss **s from the evil 4 letter.
There was a player like LeBron, his name was Scottie Pippen.
Honestly, who cares? In 2005, when they were ranked #1 one of their top prospects was Brandon Wood. That didn't work out.
If the minors are thin it's because all the good prospects made the majors ahead of schedule (Trout, Trumbo, Aybar, ect.) or were traded (Kotchman, Segura, Rodriguez, Chatwood.)
The end result is what matters, they have put together a major league team with a solid core of homegrown players and free agents for the next 5-10 years.
But let's also acknowledge what he did this year, and it was extraordinary. The kid has had an amazing year and deserves all the accolades he gets (MVP won't be one of them.)
I know they can afford him, it's a question of how it plays in the clubhouse when the best pitcher on the staff took a hometown discount and then they overpay for Greinke. Do you think Weaver would be OK with that? I doubt it.
This cannot be good for the NBA.
...and the fact that almost every team in MLB would fire their managers immediately to hire Scioscia makes him pretty safe in Anaheim.
Trade the pick and get Carson some players.
Yeah, Riley is dumb enough. He just doesn't have the cash.

I agree with his interceptions, horrible timing.
Awful. Just awful.

It's better than watching him in St. Louis for the next 8 years.
