Not sure why his job would be safe. His dad was the King of Choke Jobs when he was coach, and several of those drives the Jets had made me question what they were doing with their clock management.
Rex Ryan has now lost in three straight AFC Championship Games.
I'm not even going to read the article, but I get the feeling that next week, we will be given an article about how Tavares is going to go to Toronto blah blah blah and whatever other garbage the Toronoto Sun feels like spewing.
The bum should be suspended, how is sucker punching someone even remotely acceptable? The "fight" is on YouTube, check that out. <object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uf4PMje00ps&hl=en_US&feature=playe r_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uf4PMje00ps&hl=en_US&feature=player_ embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object>
oday, I'm having to agree with Orpik and MM. The Pens are up by two and the defense are STILL on the rush and in the pinch giving up rushes (as they have done all season).
Bottom line, the coaching has been terrible this year. The p o w e r p l a y is garbage, the goaltending is a liability and if someone can tell me the defensive system they are playing I'd love to know, because I have no idea.
The team in general has too much talent and blaming all of this on Staal being out is a cop-out. Shero upgraded the defense in the offseason and we see Gogo and Engelland on the same shift, when both of them need to be paired with a defensive minded Dman. Again, that falls down to coaching.
Bylsma needs to fix the problems quick before he ends up becoming the Penguins Gruden.
On top of that, Shero went out and significantly improved the Pens defensive core, and the team replies by not playing any defense in their own zone. The PP is garbage.
And finally, I think Flower is on a short leash because it shows the faults in Disco's system. At this point the head coach is on the line as he came in and won with another man's team. Bylsma has won the same number of playoff games as Bowman and no Pens coach has ever lasted more than 3 seasons.
There was significant talk of the goalies being Broduer, Fleury, Luongo. When Broduer got pulled many people thought playing Luongo was pandering to the home Vancouver crowd. Especially with at that point Flower having stepped up when the pressure was on. Someone actually did his starts pre and post Olympics and there was a drop off.
1. Flower can't be waived, he has a limited no-movement clause, so he can't be traded to a team he doesn't want to. 2. If he WAS waived he would never clear waivers. 3. The people in Pittsburgh screaming for his head are the same people that don't pay attention to hockey until the Steelers season is over. 4. The team's defensive play in front of him vs, Johnson has been complete garbage, to the point where only Sid is playing well in the defensive zone. 5. In general the discipline the team possessed is evaporating.
I will say however, that he never looked the same after riding the bench for the Olympics. If anything I think that is what started this.
You have no idea. Let me put it like this. The Steelers won Super Bowl XLIII and people were complaining that they didn't run the ball enough. I blame it on all the mine water people drink here.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: If there is one thing Pittsburghers like more than a winning team, it's a team that gives them something to complain about.
The concept of the NFL caring about player safety is garbage and everyone knows it.
The NFL wants and 18 game schedule, the owners have said they won't pay for health care during a strike, the NFL doesn't enforce proper fitting helmets (the only time a players helmet should come off is if his head is knocked off his body) and they want us to believe this is about "concern for the players"?
This is about protecting the NFL's investment in players making millions of dollars while trying to keep the high percentage of passing numbers to make the "casual fans" playing fantasy football happy. All while not doing anything for the players.
How about they make the players wear helmets that actually fit? Chin straps and mouth guards as well. How many times do we see the helmets getting knocked off? The only time a helmet should come off a player is if his head is removed from his neck.
Also, the Harrison fine just shows the hypocrisy of the NFL as his hits were GAME HIGHLIGHTS on the NFL's website.
I'm sorry, I was at that Toronto game, the entire team played like garbage and only outshot the Leafs in the 3rd period. Putt the whole blame on Fluery for that one is not legit.
It wouldn't be a Pittsburgh team if absolute stupid panic wasn't coming out of people's mouths 2 games in. Hell, the Pens could be 2-0 and won 1000-0 in every game and people would still be crying about something.
It will be interesting to see how the Flyers rookie goalie holds up. I am also not hitting the panic button for the Pens or handing the Flyers the Cup after one game. Personally I thought the Pens played a better game overall but the Flyers had a goalie that carried them (sound familiar?).
