Spaul,
Keep reading and get an education.
I can see you are a student of history, but you get confused by the facts. Gibbs, Walsh, Madden, Noll, Landry, Shula... these coaches did in an era when money was no object and with little or no restrictions. Belichick is doing it in an era of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and salary caps. Could any of these coaches do what Belichick is doing in this era? Maybe. But as an example Joe Gibbs came back and gave it a shot. The Patriots beat the Redskins 52 to nothing.
Contributions to the game? Do you know what the most popular used book is? (Do you even read?) Try Googling "Football Scouting Methods" by Steve Belichick, Bill Belichick's father. People want to buy copies of it because it's one of the few things out there that can offer any clues as to how Bill Belichick is able to loose someone like a Ty Law or Adam Vinatieri every year and replace him with someone just as good at a fraction of the price. Teams are hiring his assistants as head coaches hoping to see some of Belichick's magic rub off. Belichick's most obvious contribution is establishing a system that creates an overwhelming winning team in an era where everything possible has been put into place to create parity. This isn't the 1970's, idiot.
Yes. Chuck Noll won 4 Super Bowls--in a completely different era. Bill Belichick has only one 3--and he's still coaching.

Bill Belichick is the greatest NFL coach ever. Period. The decision to go for it on 4th and 2 was not a mistake. It wasn't something he decided to do before his offense took the field at the beginning of the drive. Bill knows football. He knew the odds, and there wasn't even the slightest bit of hesitation as to what he was going to do in that situation. People are shocked because he didn't punt because that's what everyone, EVERYONE else would have done. Bill knows better than anyone else. He knew the odds. It didn't work out? Oh well. The worst that can happen is that we have to play the championship game somewhere else later this season that we will still win.

Thank you, Coach Belichick. Since you started coaching the New England Patriots no other team can brag about the success that you have had. Ever. Steelers, Giants, 49ers, Cowboys, Colts, whoever... they don't even come close. If you have any doubts about that, all you have to do is read the posts by all the whankers who are fans of other teams. For all the poor slobs who's self-worth is determined by how well their football team, you've put them on prescription drugs. Watching football is about fun and excitement, and you've given us Patriots fans that in spades. Thank you for that. You can go on coaching my team forever.

Now go unload on the Jets this weekend.
Posted Monday November 09, 2009, About: Patriots show up Porter
Yay! 50yearfart is here to preach to the Patriots about how they should show some class. Let's move on now about how that last field goal was yet another effort on the Patriots to run up the score. They were ahead after all. Oh, and don't forget that all their Super Bowls should have an asterisk next to them because they filmed the defensive hand signals from the opposing team, but lets ignore the extra camera the Jets illegally added to the end zone during the same time frame. because they SUCKED. (Oops. Can't say that about the Jets. You'll report me again.) Tom Brady also always gets the calls that he wants because he's so influential over the officials. And Bill Bellichick was such a poor sport by not walking up to Porter after the game and apologizing for the caption on the scoreboard. To make up for it he should have given Porter a goodbye kiss and tucked him that night. In your world the Patriots won, and that's the only reason you need to complain. The Patriots rock. Get over it.
Posted Tuesday September 08, 2009, About: Patriots-Raiders deal not done yet
Yeah, 50yearfan, I'm not sure you know as much as you think. Richard Seymour IS an Oakland Raider. Both the Patriots and Raiders have come to terms with the trade, and the league has approved it. Richard Seymour's contract belongs to Oakland now. If Seymour doesn't show up, the Raiders will file a 5 day letter. If he doesn't report, they add him to their reserve list, and Seymour doesn't get paid for 2009. He is also unable to become a free agent in 2010, which is potentially when he can really see a payday. Seymour is a smart person. He stands to make 3.75 million this year. He's probably very upset to be traded to Oakland, but not necessarily because the team sucks big donkey's, but because his family is in Boston and his kids are in school. School started today, and he may have just stayed around home to see his kids start. I'd bet he's in Oakland by the end of the week.
Posted Wednesday September 02, 2009, About: Four teams wanted Patriots QB
You left off Adam Vinatieri, who was definitely an improvement over the loudmouth choke artist the Colts used to have, but he's now injury prone and his accuracy is only average.
Then there is also Ty Law, who had Peyton Manning's number bigtime, but fell apart pretty much as soon as the Pats cut him. (Moss burned him in the end zone to tie the game in the final seconds last year against the Jets.)
Posted Saturday July 11, 2009, About: Beggar who owes Brady finds help
According to you Brady is to blame because he didn't sit around all day waiting for the boxes to arrive or because he told the delivery guys it was okay to drop them off at his house? It's his fault because he thought no one would go through his fence, into his backyard, ignore the video cameras and warning signs, and steal from him? It's his fault because the video cameras actually recorded the crook stealing the boxes? He should have personally been there to deter the crook because everything else he was doing to protect his valuables wasn't enough? "He took a risk" by not being there, so Brady should "learn a lesson" and let's just let the thief walk.

Do you live in a cardboard box? Is it okay to steal where you come from?

An interesting fact: You can't play an Ouija board alone. It doesn't work. You're a perfect case in point. You need to get another person to do the thinking for you before you type anything. You may have broken the record for the greatest number of completely idiotic posts. Keep talking. Maybe one day you'll say something intelligent.

Dude, you were 1 and 15 the two years ago. The only thing that saved you from the ignoble fate eventually suffered by Detroit last year was that you got lucky against the Ravens. The Dolphins had no where to go but up! The only reason you squeaked in front of the Patriots for the AFC East last year was an and injured Tom Brady, trick plays used in pound ball, and fricking third-level tie breaker rule. The last time Miami won the Super Bowl Nixon was president. Stop hanging out with Mercury Morris and come talk to us when your trophies aren't covered in rust.

Cutler won the Super Bowl for the Jets?
Posted Sunday April 26, 2009, About: Why Jets traded up for Sanchez
Grandpa, can you tell me the story again about how the Jets won the Super Bowl and how their quarterback was a drunk and wore pantyhose?
Posted Sunday April 26, 2009, About: Why Jets traded up for Sanchez
Naw. Except that's where the Jets and Giant play. It's interesting that they don't want to name themselves after New Jersey though. It's kind of like why they don't call Rutgers the University of New Jersey. Who would go to school there if they did?
Posted Sunday April 26, 2009, About: Why Jets traded up for Sanchez
Different coaching staff--same old Jets. They keep trying to buy a Super Bowl. It didn't work last year, and it won't work this year... or the year after that... or the year after that.

Why are they called the Jets? Because they suck and all that sucking noise coming out of New Jersey sounds like a jet taking off.

No, the Jets suck. Period. That's why they're called the Jets because all the sucking noise coming out of New Jersey sounds like a jet taking off.
Posted Sunday March 29, 2009, About: New Jets coach didn't want Favre
Really? I don't know if you went to school, but the first city in America was St. Augustine, Florida, not New York City. They should have taught that to you in your grade school history class. In fact that was the same class where I learned the Jets actually won a Super Bowl once. I'm sure you can Chaos must remember that class? Maybe you skipped that day?
Posted Sunday March 29, 2009, About: New Jets coach didn't want Favre
Hmm.. Really? Let's look back at Quote 58 where you said, "Actually no, Gholston wasn't the "answer". He's a young, talented player who is adjusting to a CHANGE OF POSITION. He was a DE in college and now is becoming an OLB in a 3-4. that takes time to adjust. So get a clue."

Let's see, the Jets select a DT to pay LB in the first round and he gets a total of 13 tackles all season. The story out of New York that they had "won the Super Bowl" when they selected him. The Patriots, on the other hand, use a draft pick they got from San Francisco the year before and pretty much pick a nobody named Jerod Mayo who is not only used to playing the position they needed him to play but ends up getting 128 tackles and the award for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

See, that's why as a Patriots fan I don't worry about your defensive. The Jets are about as smart as you are. I'm also listening to everything you're saying, it just takes me a minute or two to stop laughing.
Posted Sunday March 29, 2009, About: New Jets coach didn't want Favre
This is the only funny thing you've said so far. The Yankee fans have class. Good one! That's even better than the suggestion you made about the Jets defense being good. I liked that one, too.

Let's see, in your world loser=class and winner=bandwagon. Are all your dreams in black and white.
Posted Sunday March 29, 2009, About: New Jets coach didn't want Favre
Don't worry. You have to something worth talking about first, and I haven't seen anything from you or crybaby stuff from Chaos that even comes close.

Getting back on topic: good luck finding a QB next year, New York. Cutler would be a good fit since he's a crybaby like your fans.
Posted Sunday March 29, 2009, About: New Jets coach didn't want Favre
Of course you like the Jets fan, Wannahockaloogie. As a Browns fan you know that both organizations are run the same way. Let's see, the Patriots are the best team so let's try tapping into that formula by hiring one of their coaches. It doesn't work, does it? Oops. Maybe it will now since Mangina is now really a former Jets coach. You guys should have kept Belichick when you had him. Oh well. You'll win a Super Bowl one day.
Posted Sunday March 29, 2009, About: New Jets coach didn't want Favre
No, I base New England losses based on the score, but in case you weren't paying attention the entire OT format came under discussion based largely on the game between New England and the Jets. I've also seen you talk repeatedly about being on some sort of bandwagon. I suspect that somehow makes you feel better for liking a team that has sucked hard for decades, but the truth is that I've been a New England Patriots fan my entire life even when they sucked. I'm enjoying this time more than you'll ever know because your a Jets fan and your team will never give you anything this good. Last year you guys had Brett Favre and we had Rudy, and we were STILL the better team. A generation from now you'll still be talking about some game the Jets won before the Space Age, but your grandchildren will be talking about what the Patriots are doing right now. That's gotta hurt.
Posted Sunday March 29, 2009, About: New Jets coach didn't want Favre
Oh wow. I forgot the Jets did win one game against the Patriots on a coin toss in overtime. That was the first time in how many years? 3? 4? How did you do the rest of the season? I still have to go back a generation to figure out when you last one a Super Bowl. Oh, the Jets are a tough team alright. They're the best high school team in professional sports.
