Posted Sunday August 09, 2009, About: Shannon rolls dice on Miami contract
"In late spring, Miami Athletic Director Paul Dee began a not-so-secret drive to raise the almost $2.5 million it would take to buy out the contract of head coach Perry Clark. Less than three weeks later, Dee fired Clark and replaced him with Texas assistant coach Frank Haith, the rivals.com 2004 Recruiter of the Year."

Get real Deion - Every other coach at UM that has signed a multi-year extension before fullfiliing their current contract (e.g. Larry Coker, Perry Clark) made the school look foolish when The 'U' had to pay millions in contract buyouts for firing said coach the following year... I hope The 'U' has learned their lesson from giving out 5 year extensions (thank god Paul Dee is gone) only to axe that coach the next year...
Posted Wednesday December 03, 2008, About: How Horns can still win national championship
Everyone talks about wanting / not wanting a playoff system... A much simpler solution is to take the top 10 teams from the final BCS standings (after the conference championships) and distribute those games to the 5 BCS Bowl Games. (1 vs. 2 in the BCS Championship game, 3 vs. 4 in the Orange Bowl, 5 vs. 6 in the Fiesta Bowl, 7 vs. 8 in the Rose Bowl and 9 vs. 10 in the Sugar Bowl.) Of course the Bowls would rotate each year like they currently do with who hosts the next set of great games... I know - I know (what about the bowl tie-ins and tradition) but the only bowl with some form of tradition that I know of is the Rose Bowl with its Pac 10 vs. Big 10 game... Who really HONESTLY cares in this day and age - times change (imagine if Oregon State got the automatic bid to the Rose Bowl with USC still sitting up there all pretty at #5 in the nation.) Who cares about the winner of the ACC conference championship getting an automatic invite to the Orange Bowl Game. Or that the Big East Champ gets an automatic invite to the Orange or Fiesta Bowl Game. Throw conference champions out the window - they should only be bragging rights within the conference and mean nothing else (imagine the hoopla this year if Missouri manages to beat Oklahoma and goes on to represent the Big 12 ahead of Texas, Oklahoma and Texas Tech.) Nobody cares to see Boston College or Virginia Tech (possible ACC champ) Cincinnatti (Big East Champ) or Missouri (possible Big 12 champ). All that really matters is who is in the final BCS top 10 standings, so my vote (currently) would be for the following (if the current BCS ratings were AFTER the conference championships):

BCS Championship Game - 1. Alabama vs. 2. Oklahoma
Orange Bowl - 3. Texas vs. 4. Florida
Fiesta Bowl - 5. USC vs. 6. Utah
Rose Bowl - 7. Texas Tech vs. 8. Penn State
Sugar Bowl - 9. Boise State vs. 10. Ohio State

WOW! what a bunch of GREAT BCS games that would be!!! But instead, we're gonna end up possibly watching Cincinnati vs. Missouri in the Fiesta (Toilet) Bowl...
Posted Monday September 15, 2008, About: Play-calling frustrates Miami players
We have 4 plays on offense - And 1 of those it to punt on 4th down...

1st down: Off tackle (left or right)
2nd down: Screen pass (left or right)
3rd down: Roll out (left or right - sack or incomplete)
4th down: Punt

I guess you could technically count those 1st - 3rd down plays as a total of 6 plays since we can go either to the left side or the right side...

Funny - FOX Sports this week trashed Gator Nation and Seminole football fans, labeling them among the "most obnoxious" in the nation.

Can someone tell me why the Canes / Gators aren't playing a home & home game (in back to back years). This game was originally scheduled to be played in Orlando at a "neutral" site (Can't really say that is too neutral, but regardless). I'm sure the Gators said, lets change it to a home and home game, but we won't come play you in Miami until 5 years from this game. What kind of crap is that! You know why - I guarantee the Gators will turn around a "buy out" the game in Miami and come up with some lame excuse of why they aren't coming down...

I also think the belief among most coaches is once you get UNDER 2:00 left in the game, and you are winning by a SIGNIFICANT amount of points, you simply run the ball to keep the clock moving and end the game as soon as possible... It's not a secret that he simply wanted to cover the point spread to keep the Gator boosters happy...

You don't throw the ball to the corner of the endzone - to the receiver that talked all the smack before the game about the Gators being the real U!!! What was Urban tring to do - Get the kid some bragging rights???

Can you imagine if Tebow would have gotten sacked and possibly hurt for the season on that play - The Gator Nation would be the ones calling Urban a dirtbag for keeping Tebow in the game after it was already won!!!

Total dirtbag...

If this doesn't say how classless the Gators are - Nothing will...

THE GATOR FLOP: The 1971 Miami-Florida game defined the football rivalry between both schools. Coming into the game, Florida's John Reaves needed 345 yards to break Jim Plunkett's record for NCAA career passing yards. Leading 45-8 with 80 seconds left, Reaves was 14 yards short of the record. To get the ball back, Florida defenders dropped to the ground (except DB John Clifford), allowing a quick score by Miami. A botched Miami on-side kick later, Florida recovered the ball and Reaves broke the record. Reaves was carried off the field as the Gators celebrated in the Orange Bowl by jumping into the pool used by the Dolphins' mascot. In turn, the coaches - Miami's Fran Curci and Doug Dickey of Florida - refused to shake hands, adding to the legend of one of college football's most fierce rivalries.

Once a dirtbag - Always a dirtbag...
Posted Tuesday September 09, 2008, About: Tebow fires back at Miami
Miami's problem is they only have about 4 plays that they can run on offense (and that includes punting on 4th down) We have no creativity when it comes to our offense (I can draw up better plays than our OC) - And don't say that our QB's are inexperienced because we went through this same stuff the last 5 years with Berlin / Wright / Freeman... I remember the Gators dominating us in the Orange Bowl back in 2003 and as soon as they put Berlin in the shotgun (because our offensive gameplan wasn't working) and basically let him do his own thing, our offense changed completely and we won the game!!!

I love what Hocutt is doing for The U... Step in and play against the big name schools... The U doesn't back down from anyone - Unlike the Gators who dropped us from their schedule in the 80's...

Go CANES!!!
Posted Thursday May 31, 2007, About: Miami closer to Orange Bowl exit
With all of the upgrades to Dolphin Stadium for the Super Bowl and the continued upgrades planned next year, how can the Canes turn the opportunity down... Not to mention it gives the athletes an opportunity to experience what it is like to play in an NFL stadium and everyone knows that the "U" is a pipeline to the NFL...
