Posted Friday January 16, 2009, About: Wavering recruit picks Hurricanes
Placing the caps of your final list of schools on the table has become a custom when recruits are making their declaration! You see it on the Under Armour Game, the Army Game and any of the other showcase games that these kids have now. GET OVER IT! The fact is, he chose THE U!

For those that think it's Patrick Nix's fault, you're partly right. For those that blame it on the D, you're prtly right as well. And speaking of that D, you absolutely can't blame it on youth. The LB's and Secondary are full of veterans in the rotation. In fact here's what we have: LB Cook (SR), LB Sharpton (JR), DB Reddick (SR), DB Phillips (SR), DB B. Johnson (SR), DB Grant (JR), LB Adkins (SR), LB Davis (SR). There's even some veterans mixed in on the D-Line too but it's only so much they can do with their rotation. It's time to accept the fact that this same group of corners and backers were never as great as those who headlined our dominate D of a few years back! I think Cook is the standout great player in this group but he can't do it alone. Also, I think losing McCarthy was a HUGE blow to our run support even though he wouldn't have been able to stop GT without the coaches making game plan changes! Now on to Nix...He's a great guy and a good coach but he needs to put his foot down. Let Harris have this team and a full playbook. Give this kid the green light, we've all seen him do it when he's allowed to. The one thing I hate about Nix is the fact that he tends to go completely away from the run even when it's highly effective. I can recall seeing games where Cooper will have 12-15 carries for 80-90 yards in the first half. And then the second half rolls around and he'll only have 18-20 carries total. WHY? This kid is a gamebreaker who should have a MINIMUM of 25 touches. Never mind that, he should 25 carries and 30 touches including screen passes. Especially considering the inconsistency at QB. And when you have a healthy James, put him and Cooper in the backfield together if you have to. And the last thing I want to point out is our WR's on offense. WAY too many drops going on! We'll never completely turn the corner until that stops. I've been really impressed as of late with Aldarius Johnson but he needs to be more like another Johnson we had (Andre Johnson that is). But I'm still waiting on one of these receivers to step up and dominate and I think it could be Johnson in a year with Harris as the starter. After all, they should know each other very well after playing High School together.

Show me evidence of these "so-called" gang signs. I haven't seen anything resembling a "gang sign" in all my years of watching.

When are they looking to add this game? I love the idea of the U taking on anyone. That way, when the program is back on top, you can't say they got there by beating up on pansies. Let's see 2008- we're bringing back the UF game and added Tex A&M. 2009 - we'll have Oklahoma again. 2010 - we got Ohio State on 9/11. If you ask me, these are the potential wins that teams should have on their resume if they are in the title hunt. 2008 Canes on the rise...But BEWARE of that 2009 season!!
Posted Monday June 23, 2008, About: Memphis taking Miami players
Okay "LoyalBuckeye" you talk like ya'll whooped our a** or something. To my recollection it was an overtime with a BLOWN call and a horrible injury to our star RB.
Anyway, good riddance to Charlie Jones. He saw all those young and talented guys behind him or for the most part, in front of him and decided he couldn't take the heat. His most productive year was 2005 with 123 carries for 507 yds - WHO CARES!
Posted Monday June 09, 2008, About: Coach won't send recruits to Miami
I agree with eyesWIDEopen totally...A HS coach in the Miami area has influence so he may be able to deter a few players from going to the U but overall there's no way he can stop all of his top talent especially if a full ride is on the line!
