if the red sox pull this off it will be a coup in japan. if all the top talent in japan gets signed to major league teams before they enter the japanese draft, the japanese pro league will collapse. judging from the comments on this thread, sounds like US fans don't want anymore japanese players coming over here tho..

as bad as he was i used to give coletti a break because he didn't trade away any of our young prospects. but enough is enough. about the only player he picked up by trade that did good for us was ethier, and he couldn't even get playing time because of a jones and pierre. coletti needs to go.

SoFLaBoy, dunno if I agree with you. Hu did terrible in the majors this year, and Ivan De Jesus is still 21 and in double A Jacksonville. I don't what to see our young talent go either, especially cuz most of them aren't prospects, they're everyday major leaguers. But unless Hu or De Jesus have a huge improvement then SS will be a major hole this season and next.

it's strange to me that all these elite status soccer players would want to play in an inferior league, but i guess what they are looking for is more of a private life while still getting paid big bucks and playing the game they love? they're definitely not gonna get as much paparazzi if they live here.
Posted Friday June 27, 2008, About: Rams eyeing return to L.A.?
SEVEN YEARS!!!??? R U KIDDING ME!!!!?? And for those who think LA doesn't deserve a team.. it wasn't the city's fault that the owners stunk. both couldn't put together good teams and the rams were stuck in anaheim. no LA county fans root for teams in anaheim. for what it's worth, the raiders still had a pretty loyal following and to this day it is more common to see cars on the freeway with raiders stickers than dodgers or even lakers (both the lakers and dodgers sell out almost all of their home games btw). there were a lot of fans that were upset in '95 when both teams left, so there's no doubt in my mind that if an owner put a good venue in LA with a good on field product LA fans would fill the seats.

this is old, i've actually seen pics of it on a japanese newspaper. the story was about how giambi offered the panties to matsui, and he refused..

the columnist who wrote this article is famous in LA for being a total ****, but in this case i can't disagree with him. jones is just sucking hard.

"He'd even asked Tim McCready for permission to have a relationship with his daughter."

although i agree that this shouldn't be on sports pages, this part of the article just appalls me. what the hell is this man thinking? he did nothing in secret, even asked permission of the parents to date the woman, not hiding at all that he was married with 4 children. i mean, did it not even cross his mind the utter nonsense that he was doing? rather than just having an adulterous relationship, he's gonna "properly ask permission from the parents if he can have an adulterous relationship?" seriously what is wrong with this guy?

This is not a Yankees issue but a Texas issue. This is the state that has nurtured, coddled, and tolerated Roger Clemens's jackassery and redneckery from the beginning.

lol, that's classic. TEXAS SUX!!!!!!!

seriously, why is this news? so the guy's a nut job, i don't really care. all i care about is his involvement with performance enhancers.

I am a huge Dodger fan but I must say Vin is one of the only things tying the current franchise to its storied past. The Dodgers used to win with class, win with home grown talent, and retain a strong link to its heritage. Even when they didn't win, they used to have a "lovable losers" type of an image. Now, the ownership has changed twice, the class is gone, and the "lovable loser" image is also gone. I respect McCourt for trying to keep the link to history alive by renovating rather than building a new stadium and prioritizing home grown talent over free agents. But once Vin and Tommy retire, we will be left with a classless front office and nothing that ties the team to the past. Hopefully Torre and the kids can start something special one last time before Vinny retires.

i agree trading pedro for delino was waay worse than piazza. shef was waay better than delino.

this rule is lame. i realize it is not just the dodgers but the dodgers should have been the one club that did not have rules like this.
Posted Monday March 31, 2008, About: Poll: Steroids matter to MLB fans
what's with the hypocrisy in sports? all sports should be held to the same standard. bonds and clemens deserve to be skewered for their use of performance enhancers, and so do NFL players. NFL players simply get a slap on the wrist for using performance enhancers, and fans are fine with that. why???
