I'm sure we could win a bunch of games with a streaking Brent Johnson, but we can only win the cup with Fluery at his A game. I'd rather lose some games in November and December trying to get him back in than trying to force him later in the season.
How about we give the defending champs some credit last night? They played really well and had a solid game plan. Once again they cause a huge turnover late, looked like the Saints of last year. They made the plays down the stretch and the Steelers didn't, bottom line.
You playing horseshoes or hand grenades? Cause close doesn't count. And trying to compare the Pens to the Caps is just stupid. One of these franchises went to two consecutive cup finals and won one, the other couldn't make it out of the second round.
Also, you're talking pretty big for someone who watched the Flyers drop 5 games to the Pens last season. The Pens are the toughest matchup for the Flyers in the Eastern conference, and have made Philly look foolish three years in a row now.
Sorry Bowman, but sending a third of the team somewhere else because you brought in Huet, Campbell, and Hossa to monster deals is not managing the cap. The cap pretty much managed you actually.
Did the refs let Randle El throw over the top of them? Did they throw a block for Willie Parker? Did they make Jeremey Stevens run his mouth and drop a wide open pass? Please, the better team won the game.
And to stop everyone from the politics bs. Let's remember the real aholes, the PA State Gaming commission that had an offer from Isle of Capris which would give Pittsburgh a free hockey arena, or another plan that payed for a huge portion of it. Instead, they chose Bardon, who had to find additional funding less then two months after recieveing the licenese, and didn't make any promise to help the city fund an arena.
Then came a BS statement saying the gaming commission doesn't have to keep the best interests of Pittsburgh in mind when they make decisions on gaming licenses. Pretty much a giant middle finger to everyone in the city.
South Side has some great bars. Smokin Joes has nearly 100 beers on tap and Fat Heads has a great beer selection as well. If you want to go to a club... well you probably shouldn't be going to a hockey game in the first place.
That's the real issue with Reed. He's the only guy who can consistantly hit field goals inside of Heniz which makes him very valuable to the Steelers. That said, are other teams willing to take a chance on a guy with this much baggage? Maybe a RB or WR, not a kicker.
I may have to check my facts, but I believe there has never been a regular season or playoff FG in Heinz over 50 yards. In fact the only one I remember is Reed last preseason against the Cards.
Well when they offer you a multi-year deal and you respond by turning it down and attacking a paper towel dispensor at a Sheetz, something tells me they might question giving you extra years.
