Dear A.I.,
You're old and gray!
Signed,
The NBA

Besides, why would the Knicks want to screw up a bad thing?
Posted Thursday November 19, 2009, About: Stoops or Ferentz at Notre Dame?
Ferentz is "layin' in the weeds" waiting for Joe Pa to retire or die. If Iowa knocks off a top ten ranked Penn State again next year (would be three years in a row), consider it a Done Deal. IMHO.

Al Davis as "King Lear"? How about Bram Stoker's "Dracula"? What am I thinking? He inspired it.
Posted Wednesday November 18, 2009, About: Did Browns meet with Holmgren?
Congrats on getting away with "shittiest" on FN. Of course, Lerner and Al Davis have been getting away with shittiest in the NFL for years.

Forget the Billick Bowl. It'll ALWAYS be the Modell Bowl.

If Dante wrote the Divine Comedy today, the three traitors Satan would be devouring would be Judas Iscariot, Jim Irsay and Art Modell.

Why not? Al Davis did.
Posted Wednesday November 18, 2009, About: Who will Bills hire next?
There is a vast divide between what the Bills need and who they can get for what Wilson is willing to pay. VAST!!! For a realistic list at who would consider working for Wilson, start with the coaches who turned down Al Davis. Forget Shanahan, Cowher and Holmgren. Never happen. Sorry, Bills' fans. Like Browns' fans, you deserve better.

Posted Wednesday November 11, 2009, About: Source: Mangini talked Jets into draft bust
Two thoughts:
1) Having practiced his cliches as Crash Davis would say, Scott said "it is what it is" publicly. But privately, he is pissed. If he's at all realistic, he has to wonder if his career will last long enough to get to one of those deals. If he gets hurt before then, the money was "left on the table". And I'm sure that Scott, like every other veteran, knows guys that never got to that point because of injury.

2) I never suggested that he would let it affect his play. That would be stupid. But the players' loss of confidence in team management from dumb draft decisions becomes just one more obstacle to overcome. "If I can't believe in their personnel decisions, can I really trust their game plan?" In the Jets' case, they don't need any more obstacles.

I agree with you to an extent. It may very well even out talent-wise. If it evens out money-wise, it still breeds discontent among the proven veterans who are being paid less than they deserve because you pissed away limited money under the cap for an undeserving #1 pick. So even if you win with a talented low round pick you got for peanuts, you still lose goodwill with your veterans. If you can imagine the anger felt by so many fans at the outrageous amounts being paid to unproven # 1's, imagine how their veteran teammates feel.

Actually, I'd put Ghouston in the same category as Edwards and Winslow: talented knuckleheads who will never play to their potential. To me, letting Edwards and Winslow go suggests that he may have learned something from the Ghoulston fiasco.

As for the Favre decisions (signing AND releasing), those were made FAR above Mangini. IMHO.

Depends on whether you're talking to a season ticket holder or not. Devastation is in the eye of the beholder!

For the same reason that people gawk at a car accident....morbid curiosity!

No, we can't. This is the NFL, Otis. You know better than that. Or was that a rhetorical question?

Piece of cake. You betcha.

Hi, Ron Wolf?
Mornin', Ron. Mark Murphy here.
How ya' doin'?
Can I trouble you for a second....?
Posted Tuesday November 10, 2009, About: Redskins may sign Johnson
With the Skins beat up line, he'll average fewer yards than he did in KC. And he'll be a cancer in the locker room. Snyder will be on him in a heartbeat!
Posted Sunday November 08, 2009, About: Ex-Eagle: Cowboys everything wrong about NFL
Depends on what level you're talking about. Losing on the field AND awful fan relations? Raiders and Browns in a real slugfest! As for all-time champions of everything wrong with the NFL in the category of fan relations? Also a slugfest being the Colts (Irsay family) and the original Browns (Art Modell) with Bud Adams taking 3rd. The Halas / McCaskey families win the Lifetime Achievement Award for a long distinguished tradition of screwing their fans.
Posted Sunday November 08, 2009, About: Ex-Eagle: Cowboys everything wrong about NFL
There are two parts to Harbaugh's comments: the Cowboys star system and the Eagles "success as a team". The part about the Cowboys' Jerry Jones belief in the star system is a fact, starting with the Triplets (Aikman, Irvin and Smith) back in the day. Jones unsuccessful belief in this continues with the failed T.O. and Williams experiments. (Yes, everyone but Jerry Jones knows that Roy Williams - WR isn't a star but an overpaid journeyman. But he'll find out.)

As for the Eagles being an example of success the right way, there's obviously plenty of debate on that one given their success in making the playoffs but not winning the Lombardi.

P.S. I wonder if Harbaugh would hold up the Cowboys' and Eagles' fans as examples of team support the right and wrong way?

Not that big a surprise actually. Eagles and Cowboys fans rag on each other all the time just as Yankees & Red Sox fans and Laker & Celtics fans. If there's an upside to Global Warming, it's that all of these cities will likely disappear as a result.

"Haters to the left of me, jokers to the right. Here I am, stuck in the middle with you!"
