Posted Saturday August 22, 2009, About: Florida moving Tebow under center
He is not slow & lumbering, so he'd be able to get out of the way of the center & drop back just fine. It's not likely he'd be playing a true spread offense in the pros, so the real issue with his draft status will be "can he read defenses, make his progressions, and can he deliver the ball?". Under center is not the issue. Can he drop back & hit the open receiver? (Or the "not open" receiver, since his receivers wouldn't be wide open the way they are now...)

Actually, he didn't pick a fight with the guy. He went outside to see what the commotion was, and the guy (who he hadn't even seen) gave him a round-house to the head from the side.

Pretty manly.

Out of spite, and to make themselves feel like they've defended the "integrity" of the game. After delivering that speech, Selig better be careful to step over all the old hypodermic (spelling?) needles littering the ground - wouldn't want a "prick"...
Posted Wednesday July 29, 2009, About: Selig standing firm on Rose eligibility
At least his betting on the Reds was always to win...so less fear that he would try to negatively influence the outcome of a game. Although a very slippery slope, especially if he got in debt way over his head...

The lifetime ban is punishment that doesn't fit the crime. Just watch - they'll let him in a couple of years after he dies...

You know, looking again at the original headline, maybe SI meant the Spartans were raiding "Ohio University" recruits...

Well, mostly at the Thirsty I, which was torn down & now is a wings place. Right at the corner of Lane & High...

Nope. When did they switch to Spartans? That appears to be one of the history classes I missed. Or maybe I was drinking in it...

I lived in Texas for about five years, and whenever I'd go out to west Texas (Midland/Odessa area) every truck you'd pass, the driver would stick his hand out & give you the "Gig'em" thumbs up.

And I suggest you pull the A&M symbol out of your a$$...

Hippyweed - what gives? You honestly care about Michigan State as much as you care about That Team up North? If that's the case, then you don't care about The Game enough...

(and it should have been "you graduated", not "your Graduated"... Props, though, for not calling it the "Nerk Campus")
Posted Saturday July 11, 2009, About: Spartans raid Ohio recruits
I was born & raised in Columbus, graduated twice from Ohio State. Obviously a life-long fan.

It is a U of M thing only... we don't have a particular rivalry with the Spartans. Like to see the Buckeyes beat them, of course, but are not suicidal when we lose!
Posted Friday December 05, 2008, About: No punishment for McClinton slap
The punishment fit the crime. He got hit in the face (accidentally - it happens) with no foul called, got pissed, and took a swipe. It was a bad decision, yes, but really more of a reaction. That happens, too. So, toss him from the game, but then that's that. He doesn't need to be disciplined further. It doesn't mean he's a bad kid. I played basketball in high school - sometimes tempers flared, but that didn't mean we were hot-heads, poor sports, or thugs. We just lost our composure & had to get it back again. If he does it again, then I'd say there's an "issue" - until then, let it go...
Posted Monday December 01, 2008, About: Notre Dame waiting for Urban window?
I think many of the fans on this site are on the younger side, and may not fully appreciate the lure Notre Dame probably has on a coach. While they haven't had a top-five ranked team in a while (my apologies to Brady Quinn & Co - they were exciting to watch but not top five), they ARE still Notre Dame...and that means a lot. Florida is great today (and have been for the last 20+years), but Notre Dame's legacy stretches back to our grandfathers' grandfathers...

And I'm not a Notre Dame fan. That said, Urban did say "no thanks" once before...

Big Island - I agree - that was a bit unfair & sexist. The north has it's share of good looking women, too - they're just buried under heavy coats & boots for five months of the year!
Posted Sunday August 24, 2008, About: Pryor will play often for OSU
Ok, I felt the pain of the last two national title games as much as anyone (not so much last year, as that was a surprise, but certainly vs. Florida!), but let's not forget that Ohio State DID win the big game six years ago (2002), and overall their BCS bowl record is something like 5-3. So, it's not like they've not had their share of success in the not-too-distant past...

I still feel the pain of the past two national championship games (not so much last year's as that was a surprise, but CERTAINLY the Florida game!), but let's not forget Ohio State DID win the big game in 2002, and overall their BCS bowl record is something like 5-3...so, they don't choke EVERY time...
Posted Friday March 07, 2008, About: Jackets face tough decisions
But you have to admit it's nice to hear the Michigander bemoaning a lack of success against Columbus' OTHER team. Especially when we had to endure Cooper's record of 2-11-1 in the big game. Slowly, things even out!
Posted Monday February 25, 2008, About: Teams lining up for Richards
We'd love to see him come to Columbus. Playing on a line with Nash & Zherdev would help him get back to "old form" (statistically speaking)...and Columbus has never had a first-line center to play with Rick Nash. (My apologies to Federov, but the Blue Jackets got him in the twilight of his career.)
Posted Friday February 22, 2008, About: Providence coach in jeopardy
The word "despite" is typically used to show that things are the OPPOSITE of what you would expect. They are having a bad year "DESPITE" the fact their star player is injured? I think the word you are searching for is "BECAUSE". Unless, of course, you think 4-10 is a great success...despite the star being injured.
Posted Friday February 22, 2008, About: 'Shanahan' FG timeouts here to stay
Calling a timeout at the last second to throw off a kicker's concentration...you are referring to that as "The 'Mike Shanahan Call'"? GIVE ME A BREAK! That tactic is as old as the hills - he certainly didn't invent it. Are you stupid? Forgetful? Too young to remember back before 2005?

Sheesh.

Calling a timeout at the last second to throw off the concentration of a kicker... why in the world are you calling it "The 'Mike Shanahan Call'"? My God, that tactic has existed since the beginning of time in football! Are you crazy? Forgetful? Too young to remember very far back?

Sheesh
