Posted Friday November 06, 2009, About: Will Gretzky sit out Hall of Fame ceremony?
It's kinda sad when you think about his post hockey career, not necessarily sad for him but when someone mentions Sir Mario , you think Pittsburgh and his representation to the city and when someone mentions Yzerman, you think Detroit and so forth but what's sad is when you mention Gretzky, who or what does he represent post career? There's always turmoil around him and thats whats sad for the league and their mis-representation of the games all-time best.......but in all fairness, does the great one ever help the situation?

Posted Friday November 06, 2009, About: TaylorMade, USGA at odds over wedges
.........The bottom line is all the above (with the exception of Faxon) are the Tours top ranked wedge players and yet all of them except Clark and Faxon can't putt. And poor Joe Durant, if only he could putt.
Posted Friday November 06, 2009, About: TaylorMade, USGA at odds over wedges
here are the top players who have the best proximity average on tour after their wedge shot comes to rest and i'll also include their rank in putts per round.

1. Tim Clark(30'5") ranked 30th in putts per round
2. Jason Bohn(31'1") ranked 160th in putts per round
3. Tom Lehman(31'8") ranked 188th in putts per round, dead last.
3. Jay Williamson(31'8") ranked 186th in putts per round
5. Joe Durant (31'11") ranked 185th in putts per round, also Joe leads the Tour in driving accuracy and is 2nd in Greens in regulation.

Robert Garrigus's proximity to the hole is 46th at 34'4" and 151st in putts per round.
John Senden's proximity to the hole is 51st at 34'6" and 170th in putts per round.

Who has the worst proximity to the hole? Brad Faxon at 40'2" but interestingly enough is #1 in putts per round, go figure!

from an amateur stand point of view, yes i would agree with you but statistically speaking the PGA tour says "not so fast"...........Robert Garrigus leads the tour in driving distance (312yd) and is 3rd on tour in G.I.R and yet you'd have to wiki his name to find out more about him.

John Senden is first in G.I.R(70%) on tour and 25th in driving distance(294yd),John who?, need i say more?

Pat Perez, Matt Kuchar,Paddy Harrington, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Brian Gay, Luke Donald, Geoff Ogilvy and some guy name Tiger all have a couple things in common( you know where i'm going with this)

.........All these guys are either winners or multiple winners on tour this year or recognized as the games elite. One other thing, they're also statistically ranked in the top 25 in putts per round.

IMHO no quicker way to shave strokes off your game than becoming a better putter.

Agreed! Unless you can control the spin on the ball then hitting a wedge pin high only to have it back up 10ft. may look cool but won't help lower your score.

Good putting will always cover a multitude of sins.
For 9 outta 10 golfers the putter will always be the least expensive club in the bag but 10 outta 10 times it's the one club everyone uses the most. While the driver usually remains the most expensive club we only use it 11-14 times round.

Hence, drive for show, putt for dough.........but face it, America's obsession with hitting the long ball will never be quenched!

Spin the ball, the 2nd greatest myth to achieving lower scores, right behind hitting your drive 300 yards.

Posted Thursday November 05, 2009, About: Rangers scouting Forsberg
I find it interesting that in the prime of Forsberg's career(w/Av's) he used to talk about leaving the NHL early and going back to Sweden to play cause the League here was to physical and his body couldn't handle the punishment and now that he's in Sweden it seems he can't let the NHL go and desires to come back.
