Ahhhh... well said. Every contract can be broken if the party backing out is willing and able to accept the consequences for doing so. Weis may be a terrible coach, but I'm sure he's no dummy. There is no incentive for him to quit. And the unfortunate thing for ND is, on the surface I can't see there being much incentive for Weis to agree to a buy out. As an attorney (who of course has not read his contract and is therefore assuming some things) I don't see ND having much leverage in terms of forcing a buy out.

Look at this way, ND can offer him a portion of his contract to leave, but why would he when he can stay on and collect it all? Weis can refuse to resign, keep showing up for work, while running the ND footbal program further and further into the ground. The only thing ND can hope for is that Weis doesn't view this experience as so damaging to his reputation that it will prohibit him from coaching elsewhere in the future. If he has deluded himself into believing that, he may agree to a buy out so he can put this behind him, allowing him to move on. However, once again. I don't think he's a dummy. I would bet that he knows good and well that this is his lottery, and his contract is his 401K.

At this point, perhaps ND establishing the "Small 10" is more appropriate.

He looked like he was about to cry many times yesterday as his team imploded against the great Ohio State Buckeyes. I hate Michigan with a passion, and even I felt sorry for them. That must've been tough to watch as a Michigan fan. I hope Michigan gets better, because for quite a while now this rivalry has been no rivalry at all. It's more like a one sided beating by a finely tuned boxer upon a man with no arms.
