Look at this way, ND can offer him a portion of his contract to leave, but why would he when he can stay on and collect it all? Weis can refuse to resign, keep showing up for work, while running the ND footbal program further and further into the ground. The only thing ND can hope for is that Weis doesn't view this experience as so damaging to his reputation that it will prohibit him from coaching elsewhere in the future. If he has deluded himself into believing that, he may agree to a buy out so he can put this behind him, allowing him to move on. However, once again. I don't think he's a dummy. I would bet that he knows good and well that this is his lottery, and his contract is his 401K.
Whatever "street cred" 50 had, its all gone now.
