They will lock him up at some point, especially since Garza will likely be gone after (or during) this season. I think Shark and his agent want this season to play out to hopefully show last year wasn't a fluke and that he can be a durable #2 type starter going forward. Hopefully the Cubs' top draft pick this year (Mark Appel or Jonathan Gray) will become the #1 starter they need in the next 2-3 years.

This makes zero sense for the Cubs. Some of their best prospects are OF's, and there is no reason to break the bank for a "speed" guy who will be turning 30. See: Soriano, Alfonso...but at least he actually has some power left. The Cubs will spend money on their bullpen (currently a trainwreck) and a couple #2 or #3 level SP's.

This is a joke. If Baez lives up to the hype you simply move Castro (or Baez) to 3rd base, which has been a black hole for the Cubs since Aramis left. The Cubs also have two prospects they like in the OF in Brett Jackson and last years 1st rounder Almora. Unless they are getting a top young pitching back they aren't trading any young talent, but especially not their franchise player.
