They do not have a chance to match the salary. They can only match NBA teams. He either did not want to return to Atlanta, or wanted to hold this over the Hawks to get more money out of them. Since Atlanta did not want to EXTREMELY over pay him, they just told him to walk. Then he had to sign with the Greeks to save face.

Losing your top two scorers, your only true center and two other players to injuries is not a coaches fault. Just growing pains right now. He needs to have a chance at having a full allotment of scholarship players. He has NEVER had that. He took over a program that basically had to start from scratch. However, he may need to tone down on the militaristic style.
