Loyalty is a two way street...but then we live in the "corporate America" days where loyalty is EXPECTED from employees and unrequited by the companies. Thanks for being one of the brainwashed corporate cronies!
ONLY in college and BECAUSE he was on a team that could win regardless. Anyone who truly paid attention could tell he would NOT make a good pro. Thanks for proven us all right Tebag!
LOL, did not even know there was a College Football Hall of Fame!! So all those Tebow lovers WILL have a place for their Tebow shrine....cause it won't be in Canton, Ohio!!!
All these one day contracts....is there some sort of financial benefit to players retiring from one team versus another? Otherwise, do they really think it means anything? People know who you played for during your career. Whatever....so long as it makes the player feel good and special we'll all pretend your career ended with the team you did not play your last season for!!
Well if he drops a lot of balls, I'd rather not see him with the Browns. Braylon Edwards already showed the Browns how one drop-a-holic can kill drives....he was the One-Man-Drive-Killing-Machine!! If they can't hang onto the ball a receiver has little value!
Of course there are going to be contracts not as good as the previous CBA rookie deals. That was the whole point of the issue...too much money being spent on completely unproven players just entering the league. Long could not stay healthy, and thus did not live up to expectations. So plenty of the old CBA rookie deal players may not earn as good a contract going forward....but on the flip side many 4 - 5 year players signed contracts that some felt were too big, because they had success AND not as much is going toward the rookies.
Are you forgetting it was THE PLAYERS that wanted caps put on rookie players, BECAUSE the veterans were tired of seeing unproven, never played and day in the NFL, gee I hope they'll live up to expectation players get all the money!
Cleveland was never a cheap team....should really get your facts straight. Under Lerner they spent money but never hired the right people. However, under the last regime, GM Tom Heckert was doing a great job building a team using the draft. That combined with the restructuring of NFL payrolls so that ALL the money did not get spent on unproven draft players has allowed them to stay under the cap. Last year Cleveland was by FAR the youngest team in the NFL. That is why they have a good room in salary cap.
Well he did not play all 16 games so your math is irrelevant. Furthermore, it only takes 62.5 yards per game to become a 1,000 rusher which is still the benchmark of a good season which MOST NFL backs do not achieve.
You should call the NFL and declare the new standards of good season to be a minimum of 1,500 yards per season. I'm sure everyone will value your opinon.
You clearly have not watched the Browns. First the O-line is fine and wll get better as they filled the last weak spot with a promising rookie last year at RT. The receivers are much better than in the past, but again young. They could use a good veteran to help them along, but the talent is there to build on.
It's NOT the Browns defense that has them coming from behind (and this is where it is completely evident you have not watched). Browns defenses have been relatively good many of the last recent years. However, they always have an ineffective offense that keeps the defense on the field all day. As the game goes on defenses get tired, and the ineffective offense is the reason the defenses have been giving up more points....ESPECIALLY late 3rd and 4th quarters. Even when playing from behind it was always 10 points or less and usually cause the offense did NOTHING themselves. But the biggest killer of the Browns defense most years has been their ineffective offenses. That said, they will need to get some upgrades and pick-ups for the LB positions since they are going back to the 3-4. And they need to compliment Joe Haden with another shutdown corner.
Plenty of teams would like to develop him....he has a strong arm and can make just about any throw. So he had 17 picks to 14 TD'S?? He was a rookie! Want to list how some of the great QB's had similar issues their rookie season?
I don't think Browns will seriously deal him, McCoy is more likely a casualty because of his lack of arm strength and the Browns wanting to have a verticle offense. So they may very well get a better QB with experience, but I believe they will hang on to Weedon to be a back-up where he can learn. His biggest issue last season IMO is that he made a lot of the SAME mistakes. So we'll see if he makes a leap during off-season. Some players get better as the season goes on, others make leaps during the off-seasons.

Worse thing is Jets aren't going anywhere anytime soon....but they like to talk trash!

Just have to see.
