Posted Thursday April 30, 2009, About: Will Favre end up with Vikings?
If Favre can still play and pass a physical then the Vikings should explore this avenue. Rosenfels can sit a season behind him and take over next season. Booty will learn more from Favre than either Rosenfels and Jackson. I love all these comments about Jackson 'coming on strong' last season. He simply is not the answer! He didn't even have a great game against the Cardinals last season. Many of his throws were way too low and a different team would have harvested interceptions. His play against the Giants' reserves and the Eagles was at times awful. Favre wouldn't be asked to throw down field on every throw, but has proven his ability to do so which should give the defence something else to think about. He can dominate the intermediate passing game, which is something the Vikings have desparately needed for a long time. I say bring him in and say goodbye to Jackson (before they make the mistake by signing him to a contract extension!)

Personally I think this whole situation has been blown out of all proportions. How can a team be accused of being engaged "in such horrific behavior"? The game had stopped, and the people playing the music are paid to do a job. I doubt there is any DJ in the NFL who are told not to play music when a player is seriously injured. I've been to many games where players have gone down and appeared to be motionless for a period of time. On each occaision music was played. Just because thise players got back on their feet doesn't make the situation different. The crowd are there to be entertained and to make the accusation that the music was played intentionally because there was a player "on the field who may have suffered a life changing injury..." is simply pathetic. I'm sure everyone would love to know who the other teams are that the source was referring to!
Posted Monday January 12, 2009, About: Vikings zeroing in on Cassel
As a Vikings fan I would be shocked if our management pull the trigger on this deal. As good as Cassel was this year, to give up so much whilst crippling our salary cap position would simply be dumb. I'd much rather see what JP Losman, Byron Leftwich, or David Carr had to offer than Hershal Walker our future again on a possible one hit wonder. Heck, I'd even consider bringing in Rex Grossman for a chat. We all know that Brett Favre will be attached to the Vikings for much of the off season, and that could happen if the Jets new headcoach decides to take a different direction and cuts him. I know he is old, but having either him or Kurt Warner behind center would provide the kind of onfield leadership that this offense has been lacking since Warren Moon. We do not have the coaching staff onboard to direct our team, but whereas Jackson had the playbook streamlined to make it easier for him to understand (no disrespect to Jackson, even Culpepper had that when he was at his best), someone with the pedigree of Favre/Warner would demand greater flexibility. They would be better at changing plays to attack defenses, thus vastly improving our two minute drills and no huddle offenses let alone our time management. It would almost be as if we had a new offensive co-ordinator! If the Patriots are so sure on Cassel, then I'd also be happy to take a chance on Tom Brady's big bad knee for conditional first and third round draft picks. Knowing Childress, if he can't get Favre, then he'll try to trade for Rosenfels again. If he does, then he'd better not offer more than a late forth round pick for him as he isn't worth more than that!
Posted Sunday January 04, 2009, About: Mangini's pal rips Favre, Jets owner
Just because Favre has told the Jets that they should look in a different direction at Quarterback doesn't mean he's looking to definately retire. Before he signed with the Jets Favre asked the Packers to give him his unconditional release IF he sat out this season. They refused. The Jets could restructure his contract and release him. Unless Tavaris Jackson takes the Vikings to the Superbowl through his play (and not Peterson's legs) then the Vikings will be looking to draft a QB come April, and Favre could be the perfect fit for Childress' westcoast offense as a stopgap/mentoring role. Let's face it, the chances of finding another Matt Ryan when the Vikings pick will be remote. McNabb will either be remain an Eagle or cost too much, and Cassel will either remain a Patriot or become a Bear. If the Vikings fail next season, then Childress will be out and that will allow either Shanahan or Cowher to be pursued (both have indicated they won't coach until 2010) and Favre will almost certainly retire.
Posted Thursday November 20, 2008, About: Favre not committing to 2009
When Favre was considering the Packers offer of cash, he mentioned that he would prefer it to include his unconditional release at the end of the 08/09 season. Apparently the Packers veto on the Jets trading Favre to any team in the NFC North only stands for this season. If the Vikings don't go for McNabb (if he is released by the Eagles), or for Warner (if the Cardinals don't resign him and he decides to keep playing), then look for something similar to the Packers/Jets deal before the draft. It wouldn't surprise me if Favres turnaround on joining the Jets was because they had a gentlemans/handshake agreement that he will be free after this season. The pull to put one over the Packers organisation will be too much to resist!
Posted Thursday October 16, 2008, About: Falcons owner: Vick should return to NFL
In honesty, the Vikings are well aware of his running skills and could utilise his arm in their sudo-westcoast offense. Unless the Vikings pick up a quality freeagent this offseason, or use a 1st round pick in the draft, Vick could be a serious option.

Wake up and smell the coffee everyone. Graham did not make his comments as fact, he only shared his thoughts. Whether Bryant felt pressured, or indeed requested, to play so soon after losing his infant child, the fact remains that IF he had wanted time off, the Buccaneers would almost certainly have had to cut someone to sign a freeagent kicker as a stopgap. The NFL should allow a roster exemption in such matters - full stop! Even now, after kicking last week, Bryant, or any other player/coach/executive/employee of a team who has lost a child or spouse, should be given the opportunity to grieve in their own way. The NFL needs to recognise that teams should be helped with roster exemptions when good guys need help, not just those punished by the Commissioner.

Goodness, a QB that isn't being associated with the Vikings!
Posted Wednesday July 30, 2008, About: Source: Favre not talking trade
... I wonder if Buffalo is now going to get involved. They have a playoff calibre team and now know that Marshawn Lynch will not be subject to League discipline. They also have some interesting options at WR and a solid defence. Commissioner Roger Goodell just happened to be visiting the Bills' training camp during the grace period of time Favre gave the Packers before filing his papers with the League. Would not be too far a stretch of the imagination for this to happen!
Still - I'd love for Favre to find his way into a Vikings uniform!

Posted Tuesday July 08, 2008, About: Packers' options for Favre
As a Vikings fan, I have a love/hate relationship regarding Favre. He is far from a shadow from his old self and his knowledge of the game is unquestionable. This reminds me of when Dennis Green tried to get Dan Marino to unretire and play for the Vikings. Only thing is that this time the Vikings seem content to keep their starting QB in place. The only calls of concern comes from the media. Just don't expect the Vikings to deny any interest of signing Favre. Any oportunity to cause the Packers worry, or even force their hand in making them lose salary cap space by retaining Favre's contract is too good to pass up. Packer fans are worried about Favre wearing purple this season, but the only way that will happen is if he becomes a Raven...
Posted Friday April 18, 2008, About: Ind. league team's Vick night bothers some
I love all animals and therefore cannot condone what Vick financed. But let's look at this properly. He is doing the time for his crime. He was far from acting alone, but it seems no one is in the slightest bit bothered about who was betting on the fights or providing the animals. Why is what he did any different to using dogs in hunting? And to make matters worse, children even today are brought up playing games where they catch wild animals and then put them in fights with other animals owned by other so called trainers. Don't recognise the game? Try Pokemon! Don't hear any calls for that entire franchise to be banned yet other games depicting violence are scorned upon!
Posted Thursday March 13, 2008, About: Will Vikings trade for Losman?
The one thing people are over looking here is Brad Childress' reputation. He has staked his house on Jackson being an effective, not spectacular NFL QB. Due to this he will only look to use a 5th round pick at best on a back up. He was an idiot to waive Thigpin last season instead of Bollinger. Buffalo will want more than a 5th rounder for Losman, who in my opinion, will blossom with a change of location. Too many people claim statistics or draft position are more important. Let's face it, Losman is still only a young man, and people mature at different rates. He has time on his side and though he would have a better chance to start by staying in Buffalo, the fans are obviously already set on their opinion on him. The Vikings would be better off going into the draft with only two QBs. That way, teams after a signal caller will view the Vikings as a potential competitor to draft a QB, and therefore make the Vikings picks more valuable in a trade. The Vikings will do what they always do, wait for the June cuts and pick up someone described as "a QB who will fit with the Eagles style of West Coast offense Childress brought with him". I'd just be happy with someone who doesn't panic when the pressure comes. If the QB doesn't win games for you then you'd better make sure they don't lose the game for you! Why on Earth would anyone give a 3rd round pick for Rosenfels? Surely you'd expect a 3rd round pick to eventually start? If a QB selected in the 5th round or lower proves to be a starter, at least you can say it was a suprise or claim you teams scouting system did its homework. I'd accept Pennington if he was a freebie pick up.
