thames wouldnt be a bad fit for the mets, but really, who are they gonna give up? joe smith was a rookie and there are no gaurantees there. matt wise? jorge sosa? come on. i doubt those are the pieces the tigers are looking for. not one of those 3 guys is a frontline reliever.

IF the tigers had zumaya, rodney, and even (gulp) todd jones, then maybe they could receive a package there, but i dont think it's gonna happen. the tigers know they are a playoff team right now. these minor tweaks here and there can happen anytime before the trading deadline.

all this joy of nady talk, ok. so then trade perez back to the pirates, (who has been one the better starters on the team) for nady. you guys want nady back so badly and im sure the pirates want perez back. sounds fair to me too. come on guys think why nady was traded in the first place. with cliffy, beltran, endy, lastings "the cant miss prospect, future 20-20 guy" and nady. surplus of OF brought in some pitching, hernandez and the throw in guy perez.
Posted Friday June 29, 2007, About: Yankees ask about Rangers' relievers
i dont know, the rangers are gonna want a lot in return for these two top of the line relievers. (I do believe that gagne has come back to being top notch). How well will they do in NY? Who knows? What do the Yanks have to offer in return. I'm sure they would like Damon over the platoon of Hairston and Lofton, but not at that price. Probably just another pointless rumor.

the white sox have every team in the majors knocking at their door. they are clearly in the drivers seat in who they want. they are not going to want rent-a-player rowand for the rest of the year. and by white sox talking about trading most of their pieces, they may be looking to rebuild and that isnt going to happen by making the rowand for buehrle deal. burrell is absolutely useless to all of baseball. who wants a .200 hitter for $14 Million? nobody. (heck, in dave kingmans last year he hit 35 homers and nobody wanted him due to his poor average and attitude).

i agree with all you guys in the fact that our youngsters probably could do no worse than trash-el and lohse. didnt lohse have 1 decent year like 5 years ago with the twins?

i think now is the time to deal rowand. i dont know if hes starting a little bit of a slump or he is just coming back down to his career .270 hitter numbers. his value is incredibly high right now and now's the time to pull the trigger for some relief help. i have been a fan bourn since last year and i truely believe he is leadoff man of the future. having bourn, rollins and victorino in the game would be awesome. maybe let bourn leadoff, victorino #2 and move rollins into a more rbi-type role. rollins always seems to give us those 1-0 flyballs to center to start off the game, maybe they could be sac flies farther down.

well i guess crashh14 is right, cubs have 4 all star pitchers, but neither one is named zambrano. and apparently, playing at .500 gets you into the postseason. the nl central is not the NL east of last year. as if the phils, braves, dodgers, padres, and d-backs are all going to be sub - .500 teams and the cubs are just gonna walk into the playoffs. not to mention you guys have the same record as the cards and they are doing this with no hitting and without their #1 pitcher, who is due back sooner than expected. im not buying that and i dont think everybody else will either. crashh14 loves to badmouth zambrano and i just cant believe that. dont you think that marquis and lilly (both career .500 pitchers with era's in the mid 4's are slightly doing better than expected?) dont worry, they will come crashing down at some point. you'll see.
Posted Monday June 18, 2007, About: Cubs eyeing Rangers closer
crashh 14 may have said some of the dumbest things i have ever heard. the day that zambrano is the last guy the cubs want to start is insane. so are you telling me that you are willing to let zambrano go because you have enough fire power with marquis, lilly, hill, and marshall? oh my god that is dumb. hill has been good, but is still very young and let's say, unproven. lilly and marquis?? #4 and #5 pitchers at best on a decent team? come on. i dont have to watch the cubs to make my statements. i would hope your pitchers do well facing the reds, pirates, astros, and cardinals 19 games each. i guess crashh 14 is a blind cubs fan who actually thinks his team has a shot. get the hell outta here.
Posted Monday June 18, 2007, About: Cubs eyeing Rangers closer
haha, gotta love those cubbies! soraino, lee, ramirez, etc, etc. and oh boy IF mark prior comes back healthy and IF kerry wood come back healthy, look out. i hope they saved enough money to pay their only pitcher mr. zambrano. all that offense and nothing to show for it. do you mean you're not going to win every game after scoring 7 runs? not if you're lack of pitching gives up 8. let them go after gagne, its too late. cubs are pathetic.
Posted Monday June 18, 2007, About: Yankees ask Angels about Hillenbrand
come on the yankees have an allstar at pretty much every other position. they can afford to have light hitting first baseman. i dont think hillenbrand is going supply the heart and soul the yanks so desperately need.
Posted Monday June 18, 2007, About: What Phillies can offer for Lidge
hold on there dickie, as of right now, jimmy rollins is a 3-time allstar and does have more accomplished than jose reyes. the ever so frail jose reyes may blow his hamstring a few more times in his career, and when its all said and done rollins may end up having better numbers. A team that is 2 games out of first place is pathetic. we didnt need cy young to sweep the mets last week did we? nope, just cole hamels, jamie moyer and freakin adam eaton. thanks mets for making our bullpen look like a bunch of all-stars. and im pretty sure if they did get cy, a 30-game winner, we would beat a bunch of teams.
just another idiot met fan upset that they lost two of three to their crosstown rivals.
Posted Sunday June 17, 2007, About: What Phillies can offer for Lidge
its all good dude, just trying to let everyone else know there are other options. if we get lidge, im scared. if we get gagne (although probably very unlikely), teamed up with myers = nastiness. screw gordon, try him back in the rotation like in his royal days. he's worthless.
Posted Sunday June 17, 2007, About: What Phillies can offer for Lidge
im not saying this has to be anything permanent, im just saying lets keep it going for a while. let myers be our mvp in the bullpen. some days he'll close, others he'll have to get the tough guys out. after alfonseca blows a couple than lets go back to myers being the dominant closer.

i would really hate like heck to see bourn go. if he goes, and rowand goes to FA, we have no CF for next year. victorino in CF, but who in right? werth? no thanks. werth is a good #4 OF. I would really like to give bourn a chance to play CF and leadoff. give him a chance. he obviously has the moxy to steal almost every time he's on. no way in hell we give away drabek.

i would love to trade geary and rowand for gagne and perhaps lofton. TExas doesnt have an everyday CF and since we lose rowand anyway why not. geary has been decent and will be cheap for the next few years which will make him attractive to some teams. Lofton would be a platoon in CF with victorino, may even leadoff a few games and have rollins be an rbi guy behind howard? i dont know, but let me know what you guys think. im sure you will.
Posted Sunday June 17, 2007, About: What Phillies can offer for Lidge
ok perfect case in point, look at todays game. would you rather have myers come in or rely on the trio of geary, zagurski, hernandez??? while they blow it, our best sits on the bench waiting to come in. as far as alfonseca,... just the fact that he's pitching OK so far is a lot more than I or you could have hoped for or imagined. its a gigantic bonus. today's game is a perfect example. you guys sit here and name call, but in reality you dont have a clue on what you're talking about. i understand our former #1, going to a 6 or 7 inning guy is a concern. but i also believe that our #1 starter should be our #1 reliever. when the team is losing, your #1 is your stopper. well, when the game is on the line i would love to have a stopper and not a bunch of young guys learning how to pitch in crucial situations.
Posted Sunday June 17, 2007, About: What Phillies can offer for Lidge
im sorry shmuck, why have the yankees brought in andy pettitte twice this year in relief? it was obviously his off day. why did the astros bring in oswalt to face the phillies back in 2004 in the sixth inning? (which he got the win cuz i was there). maybe it was because both their bullpens blow and they went with their very best. in case you havent realized, we lose more games in the 6,7, and 8 innings than in the 9. there are times our closer is left on the bench and doesnt even get a chance. when the **** hits the fan in a close game, i want our best in there. and i dont think myers has ever gone over 2 innings in relief. im sayin when the pitcher starts to struggle in the 6th or 7th, let myers come in and finish the job, and seeing how rested he is or how he feels, let him go out there for another. he's a young strong kid, hes a horse and can absorb some of the load. im not sayin do the closer-by-committee crap, lets just keep with what we got. its working. and sure myers can come in and get saves if alfonseca needs a day off. but to sit here and call me a shmuck??? get the hell outta here. and "alfonwhatever" has been a real prize considering we only pay $400K for him, so you should show him a little more respect. he sure beats having condrey or brian sanches up in relief. get a clue as s ho le.
Posted Sunday June 17, 2007, About: What Phillies can offer for Lidge
screw that ****. i dont like lidge nor should anyone in philly. if michael bourn gets traded, we still lose rowand to FA so we dont have a CF for next year. maybe victorino in center, and who in right? werth? dobbs? with piece of sh*t burrell in left. that really sucks. the philllies have gone on this mini tear without lidge and i think they are just better off waiting for myers to return and drop mesa. let myers set up for alfonseca. hes doing the job and let it be his to lose. keep myers for the 6 and 7 innings when our starter gets into trouble. he would be the best pitcher to come in and get outs. whatever way you look at it, the phils do not want lidge.
Posted Saturday June 16, 2007, About: Mets in market for pitcher, closer
what if the mets got buehrle, then perhaps sosa can go into the bullpen. thats the only situation i can imagine. but having 3 lefties in the rotation may not be such a good idea. buehrle and glavine are very similar pitchers who need to hit their spots or else they're screwed.

i think all of us (teams) should be very weary of brad "lights out" lidge. has he really rediscovered is form? i dont know, but i dont want him coming to my team to find out.

seriously, MCG should just stop writing stuff. he's a tool and should be ignored.
Posted Friday June 15, 2007, About: Zambrano leaning toward Cardinals?
lets face it, the mets are going to be the highest bidder, with the yanks making a serious run. yanks probably waiting to give $200 M for santana. cards, no way.

Posted Friday June 15, 2007, About: Why Dunn-to-Angels trade didn't fly
not a fan of either of these two teams, but angels have a right to say no. dunn is a one dimensional player. ok so maybe he's average at defense playing OF and 1B, but his average is crap, strikes out wayyyy toooo much, and his contract is done this year if traded. his power numbers are envious indeed, but for what the reds are asking, he aint worth it.

why would the phillies want any of those guys??? they have.... JOSE MESA now. look out.
Posted Wednesday June 13, 2007, About: Possible relief help for Mets
delgado came over because the marlins signed him to that ridiculous 4 year deal, where he only 4.5 million in year one and than jumped the final three years. the mets got him and gave up great talent. and for people to say beltran didnt want to become a met and would've been a yankee instead is crap. he was scared to play in NY. the mets were the high bidder and that's why they got him. PRD is a moron as well. Yankees dont want to pay luxury tax on beltran??? are you serious??? as if they aren't paying any luxury tax now at $200M??? Johnny Damon for $13M or Beltran for $18M? I dont think a $5M is much of a difference. dont give me this crap about pedro being the reason for beltran. not buying it and i dont think any non-mets fans will either.

heres the thing. the mets are following in the footsteps of the yankees. minaya came into a situation where he had some very good young talent (reyes, wright, milledge, pitching prospects out the****) and then went on a spending spree and bought some of the best players in baseball. one of the top three closers, one of the best pitchers, one of the best centerfielders and basically had the payroll to absorb one of the most consistant and best first basemen. he went out and got the oft-injured cliffy floyd as well. the farm system is less than what it was.... milledge is "untouchable" haha, cocky and the second coming of elijah dukes. a real trashy guy. pelfrey got his **** knocked off and who knows if he'll ever be back. with a payroll approaching the $120M mark, third in baseball the mets are just going to spend spend spend on all these guys. they got pedro at the end of his career, glavine is very serviceable but may end up retiring at the end. el duke is injury prone, and who knows how old he really is and when he'll break down. delgado??? are we seeing the fast descent of a slugger? or is it just a slump? who knows. but pretty soon the mets are going to be screwed with broken down guys and a depleted farm. the best is the kazmir for zambrano trade (steve philips). oops. GO METS!!!!
