Posted Friday October 30, 2009, About: LeBron asks for patience
I have a question concerning the salary cap. With Shaq and Ilgauskas coming off the books, could the Cavs use that money to sign (an)other player(s) and then still resign James to a max contract?
I don't know exactly, but didn't the Sixers do that last year, when they signed Brand before they resigned Iguodala?

I totally agree with you! People should show some more respect, not only to our elected politicians, but to everybody. If there were more people like you, maybe we could have a rational discussion about political issues in this country, instead of all these emotionally fired up hate talks...

ps is a sports forum really the right place for such discussions?

I consider this a good sign for the state of New Jersey, there don't seem to be any major political issues around to take care of.
Posted Thursday July 02, 2009, About: Cavs talking to Artest, Ariza
Like the Lakers would let Ariza go to the Cavs. Besides why would he go there, as the Lakers are offering about the same as the Cavs could (see other t&r). And I don't even know if he would be a good fit for Cleveland. The Cavs need a pf (with some offensive game).
Posted Monday June 29, 2009, About: OKC, Pistons, Blazers chasing Millsap
I like Millsap, and think he can be a starter in the NBA. OKC needs big-men, but especially a center and Millsap is too short to play C. He would come of the bench for the Thunder.
Posted Saturday June 27, 2009, About: Rubio pushing for Knicks move?
I could imagine a trade of Lee and Curry for Rubio, Thomas, Cardinal and Madsen (3 expiring contracts). Minnesota has to many players under contract (14, I believe), so they have to trade or buyout some of them. But I don't know how Lee would fit in with Love and Jefferson (maybe some kind of 3 big men rotation as the Lakers do).
Posted Friday June 26, 2009, About: Knicks Robinson, Lee in limbo?
I beg to differ. A ring definitely can be an indication of a player's greatness, but just one and not the most important one.
But how come this thread has turned into a 'is Ewing one of the greatest'?
Posted Friday June 26, 2009, About: Knicks Robinson, Lee in limbo?
The Knicks should definetely trade for Rubio. He's gonna be one of the best pg's in the next decade. Who cares if he's not a great athlete and has no steady jumper. These are the things you can achieve / learn in not to much time. His feel for the game, basketball-iq and ballhandling can be taught to nobody. And he's not gonna play for the Wolves, if no other team trades for him, he's gonna stay in Spain one more season.
Posted Thursday June 18, 2009, About: Cavs-Wizards deal in works?
I've heard of a deal between the Cavs and the Lakers. The deal would essentially be a cost-cutting move for the Lakers, sending Kobe Bryant and filler (Derek Fisher) to the Cavs for Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic. Wallace seems likely to retire, and Pavlovic is on a non-guaranteed contract for next season. It's not clear how many first round picks the Lakers would need to surrender.
Posted Wednesday June 17, 2009, About: Knicks covet Hill over Curry
The Knicks should trade Lee, Curry and the 8th pick to Memphis for the 2nd and Milicic (and maybe filler). The Knicks could then draft Rubio resign Chandler and have all the necessary cap-space for next year.
Posted Tuesday June 16, 2009, About: Teams lining up for Hedo
The Magic are probably gonna resign him. I f you want a chance to compete for the championship, you have to pay luxury tax. The Magic team looks great btw, Lee turned out to be good, signing Pietrus payed off, Howard is only going to get better. Only minor adjustments to be made (trade Alston) and this team could be back to the finals next year.
Posted Sunday June 14, 2009, About: Kobe hints at Lakers future
They can resign both Ariza and Odom (due to the Bird exception), without Kobe opting out and taking less money. And they will probably do so. I doubt the Lakers owner cares much about luxury tax.
Posted Tuesday June 09, 2009, About: Why Knicks prefer Flynn over Lawson
I like the idea of the Knicks trying to trade for the Memphis pick to get Rubio. They should try to keep Lee and Chandler however...
Posted Tuesday February 03, 2009, About: Will Lakers trade with Bynum out?
How about a trade with the Nets. Lamar Odom and Chris Mihm (and maybe someone else/draft pick) for Vince Carter Josh Boone and Sean Williams. A blockbuster and not very probable, but not that bad for both teams.

The Lakers get Carter, who can play sg and sf. They could play Carter and Kobe together, as the triangle doesn't need a pg. They get a solid backup c in boone, who can take over for bynum. a young and talented big man in williams, who however still has to prove that he can do more than block shots and foul out... odom will probably leave anyway in the summer, so better get something in return.

the nets get rid of their biggest contract and get plenty of cap space for the 2010 free agency.
Posted Thursday January 29, 2009, About: Jazz won't let Millsap go
"Millsap can expect a contract for the full midlevel exception (...) from another team, the general manager said"
After what he's showing this season he can expect more. There are a few teams with the necessary cap space, that could use a(nother) good pf (eg Memphis, Portland, Detroit) and could offer him a contract starting at 7-9 million a year. If the Jazz want to keep him, they will have to go into the luxury tax (whether Okur and Boozer opt out or not), except if they can trade Kirilenko...
Posted Tuesday January 13, 2009, About: Curry wants trade to Heat or Bulls
Yeah trade him to the Heat for anything, that doesn't earn money after next season. Wade's going to be so fed up, he's leaving ship for sure in 2010...

Posted Monday January 12, 2009, About: Mavs-Bobcats deal would include Mohammed
I actually like that deal, if OKC is involved. Then it could look like this:
Charlotte gets Earl Watson and the Denver lottery protected 2009 pick from Oklahoma and Diop from Dallas.
Dallas gets Mohammed, Felton and 2009 second round pick from Charlotte.
Oklahoma gets Devean George, Antoine Wright and 2009 (lottery protected) pick from Dallas.
I think it works salary-wise.
Charlotte would benefit from another first round pick, would swap one overpaid backup center for another and get a decent backup pg for augustine.
Dallas would benefit from a solid young pg to back up kidd or take over if kidd leaves and gets a backup center for dampier with a shorter contract than diop.
Oklahoma gets an expiring contract with George and cuts down some of the salary that watson would earn, and swaps one first round pick for another.
Posted Tuesday November 25, 2008, About: Boozer in Knicks' future?
I read in a Slam article some time ago, that one of Boozer's children has a condition that gets worse in heights. Therefore his family is spending most of their time in Florida. That doesn't really speak in favor of staying with the Jazz.
Posted Tuesday November 25, 2008, About: Boozer in Knicks' future?
All this Lebron plus second star (Stoudemire, Johnson, Boozer...) talk leaves out one question. Who's going to be the pg for that team? Duhon? Robinson? Nash?
Posted Sunday November 23, 2008, About: Steve Nash to Knicks?
The free agent market in 2010 will be like high stakes poker for players and teams a lot to lose, but so much more to gain. I believe most of the high profile players, that are talked about (James, Wade, Bosh, Stoudemire...) will opt out, because their teams will undergo serious changes that summer. And if they opt out they have the chance to leave for another team, if they don't agree with the direction their team is going. The Knicks will get the chance to put together a team of a couple of superstars, some roleplayers and a few veterans looking for a title before they retire. Or they will end up with nothing but the scraps nobody else wants.
