As long as they are 2 or 3 year deals, I'm fine with it. The Red Sox have 5-7 top prospects that will be ready in a year or 2. These guys are really just to keep them competitive until the kids are ready. Even with signing thosde guys, they'll still have a ton of money to make deals next year and the year after.

Rex Ryan is a over-hyped, loud-mouthed, clown. He has always been an over-hyped, loud-mouthed, clown. When he was winning it was charming and funny, now the same people who built him up are tearing him down. Because most of the media are also over-hyped, loud-mouthed, clowns. Another in a long line of great coordinators who crashed and burned as a head coach. Hey, maybe Bill Belichick will give him a job. Then he can kiss his ring every day. lol

Nick Swisher won't win them a world series, but he's good, solid player and an excellent clubhouse guy. He's a go piece.

When you look at the alternatives, It's not a bad idea. His power number went way up once he left Boston, which tells you how much playing for Valentine affected him. Especially, when you factor in that he was playing in Fenway Park. How could his power numbers go up when going to US Celllar Field in Chicago? If he could hit .280 15-20 HR's and 80 RBI's and play gold glove type defense than take a shot. That's about what Millar did in 2004 and what Youkilis gave them in 2007.

Bass may have a problem with moving back to the bench, or he may not. He seems like a pretty humble guy and I'm sure Doc knows him better than any of us. As far as Darko goes, sometimes a good fit can bring the best out in a player. Darko doesn't have to be the guy in Boston. Play good defense and rebound. At best he's the 5th option on offense. Can he at least do what Perk did? (7 ppg - 8 rpg) I think that's realistic.
