Posted Tuesday April 21, 2009, About: Jets' QB sweepstakes leader is...
Astounding how many uninformed comments from people who watch other teams and haven't watched Clemens' career. There isn't enough evidence against Clemens to discount his ability yet, but given that he didn't fall part playing behind the worst o-line in the division two years ago in his second year in the league I count the fact that he's still on the roster as a real positive. My money is on him starting throughout this season, and then the Jets will go on THAT track record to replace him or not for 2010. I think Clemens is a lot like Brad Johnson - pretty talented but his best season will still be eighth to tenth best in the league.
Posted Friday February 27, 2009, About: New Chiefs regime angers Pro Bowler
The Jets ate a meaningless season two years ago because arrogant Eric Mangini and Mike Tannenbaum decided to mess around with very a good left guard named Pete Kendall who felt he had been promised a new contract and decided to whine about it all off-season. Their entire season imploded in training camp when they stuck him in rookie housing - whether it was Pete Kendall being a creep or the GM/HC's fault, the mismanagement of the situation by the leadership wasted the season. Poor Thomas Jones and Chad Pennington were both thrown under the bus that year by the press and the fans because the offensive line was like a sieve all year after the Jets leadership tried to toss a back-up in there to replace a better-than-average starter over a poorly handled ego issue. Fiery, confrontational coaches like Ditka, Parcells, even Buddy Ryan, have had success by choosing their battles and setting up their personnel to win. Embarassing a solid vet just can't be a good idea. Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin never had to do that, and we all know the Steelers have had their share of off-the-field idiocy that the leadership was able to weather.

This is just such an incomprehensible, dysfunctional situation. How do such incompetent people get into positions of power? It's really disheartening. I suppose it's a microcosm for what Bush has done to the course of US and global history, but I think I might actually hate Bush less than Dolan and Thomas. Mmm, maybe not.

sunny7192 has not been reading the news. the signing of alan faneca and damien woody to their two weak spots has just moved the jets o-line up from well below average to above average. maybe not excellent, but above average. where they need a star now is a monster d-lineman or a wide receiver who is a legit deep threat. qb, rb and o-line can wait one more year.

Yosemite, you're on to something. An "accident" might make a lot of New Yorkers happy. Very happy.
Posted Wednesday March 19, 2008, About: Will MLS recycle team names?
I'm always diggin' the African sides' names that use adjectives, like the Indomitable Lions. Why not the Philadelphia Frickin' Amphibians and the Seattle Slippery Starbucks-Suckers?
Posted Wednesday March 19, 2008, About: Jets pay visit to McFadden
Weapon X put the "semi" in "semi pro," although it's hard not to appreciate Brian Dawkins. The Iggles are going where in 2008? The Jets need to stockpile picks since neither of the Longs will be there anymore. They already spent too much money to sign a top pick without cutting the salary of a useful platoon veteran or three.
Posted Friday March 14, 2008, About: Sanders rips Knicks front office
The Knicks are only a decade or two from contending for a championship. Isaiah and Dolan Jr. have so much to be proud of.

I second the earlier comment:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Posted Wednesday November 07, 2007, About: Sources: Jets trying to trade Vilma
The posts for Vilma to go to Baltimore and P-town don't make sense, do they? I thought both those defenses play 3-4, too. He has to be free to run with d-linemen occupying the o-linemen.
Posted Wednesday November 07, 2007, About: Sources: Jets trying to trade Vilma
This is only about nine months overdue. Mangini and Tannenbaum have run this franchise into the ground at a time they could have turned the corner upward.

Such good drama. Truth is more entertaining than fiction. And sadder.

Posted Friday November 02, 2007, About: George shrugs off Vikes slam
I was kind of disappointed that George didn't blow up at Childress' comments. He was such a diconnected, egocentric bboooobb in he playing days. Maybe he's grown up some, but that doesn't mean he isn't Jeff George, wonderpriicckk.
Posted Wednesday October 31, 2007, About: Raiders to sign receiver/returner
I promise you, as soon as the ink is dry, SPROING, there goes his hamstring again. He might be a nice guy, but he does not do what it takes not to be an injury case year after year after year.
Posted Wednesday October 31, 2007, About: Kendall mum about messy Jets divorce
Kendall will pancake every Jet in the defensive front seven by mid-way through the 2nd quarter.

Mangini and Tannenbaum's arrogance and overthinking got the better of them this year, but they are not evil and they will learn from it. I think they have successfully gotten younger this year, and will hopefully gain another two picks for Pennington and Vilma in the offseason. At least they're not the Dolphins, who are OLD and untalented.
Posted Tuesday October 30, 2007, About: Jets changing quarterbacks
I am guessing that Chad has not started his last game in the NFL. They have garbage at QB on so many teams. KC? Miami (not a trade option)? Chad will play better with a chip on his shoulder next season.
Posted Tuesday October 30, 2007, About: Jets changing quarterbacks
This decision is not about this season. This decision reflects that they have decided to move on from Pennington to Clemens next fall. Obviously the reps for Clemens are important, but then they couldn't really have gone back to Pennington ever again.
Posted Tuesday October 30, 2007, About: George seeks Vikings comeback
This guy was just poisonous, and clearly he still doesn't "get it" if he thinks he would be a match for any team for any reason. What would it do to the psyches of these young qb's, even if they're destined to be the Vikings' backups at best next year?
Posted Monday October 29, 2007, About: Jets changing quarterbacks
I just feel for everyone associated with the Jets that they have to sit there with each other for eight more weeks of meetings and prep. work for eight more games. Pretty soon things are going to go from simmering to boiling. Vilma's injury may have saved him from much worse psychologicval torture. Chad still has to hang around for every meeting and "mentor" Kellen.
Posted Monday October 29, 2007, About: Jets changing quarterbacks
I just realized Washington is up next. I figure Pete Kendall will have pancaked every Jet in the defensive front seven by midway through the second quarter.
