At this point in their career: Gomez > Sundin. They are vastly different players, but Mats has two seasons left MAX, most likely 1. Gomez will play 5-6 if he stays healthy.

Everything goes against BJ in this fight. He will be a huge under dog (240-350) and will not beat GSP.

I'll take a bigger fighter with better conditioning and stamina anyday. BJ has but a punchers chance and GSP is too smart and focused to let that happen.

Don't forget that baseball has a soft-cap with a luxury tax that punishes over-spending teams. As it pertains to the NFL, you must consider the distribution of revenue when talking about maintaince of the hard cap -- it makes owners richer at the expense of the athletes themselves.

A capless league benefits the players and the fans, since markets with adequate fan support can spend for the talent on the field. Markets without fan support will fail -- which is a pretty straight forward market principle.

This is highly individual. Some players will benefit greatly from the competition from their peers and the develop better in a group-learning atmosphere.

Others, like Johnson, feel they are good enough to prosper financially and can afford better coaches and the like.

This would make a good throwdown. Will reducing the size of goalie equipment improve the on-ice product in the NHL? YEEESSS.

They are NOT going to get hurt, we can make equipment that will sufficiently protect out tenders and not have to worry about them being protected from road side bombs.

He was trade bait all season long, but Lowe is likely re-thinking that given the emergence of their young players they could use a good two-way FWD like Stoll to center the checking line/kill penalties. He is a huge piece of the puzzle for EDM in my opinion. They need to get a top-tier netminder and they'll have a run at the playoffs next season.

Regarding the blow -- I've played with guys Emery used to play Jr with regularly for the past few years. The speculation is not misplaced, but we shouldn't run too fast with rumors. You see a celebrity/athlete do a rail and BOOM people start calling that person a cokehead, when once or twice doesn't necessarily infer a problem/habit.

All that said, Redden on the blow too? Now that is a wild rumor.

I wrote about this in September. I predicted they would try and move him, which they did, but were blocked by his no-trade contract. He is not even close to worth the money and the Sens are about to get worse. A solid goaltender and handful of young talent will make any coach happy, but the Panthers are still several years away even with Jokinen and the soft Eastern Conference. Washington and Philly are in similar scenarios, but are notably better positioned to win in the future.
