That's one example yes. And I agree pitching is extremely important, just wouldn't "build" around them.

Cardinals a few years ago..used the meat of that lineup and defense to win..rotation was average at best.

I'm from Maryland but I'm far from an Orioles fan. I'll make my argument and hopefully it's good enough.

If I remember correctly, neither Schilling nor Johnson were long term solutions. Yes they won a series but the team hasn't done much since. Great for a year...not for "building" a team for the long haul.

I'm not eliminated todays game, just almost impossible to compare eras because of issues like this. I would have like to seen Bonds hug that corner with no protection in an era where throwing at someone was acceptable.

I'll usually take the side of the older players, just my opinion.
