So I guess the next call he'll be making will be to Terry Bowden to see if ABC is hiring... Classic stuff, just got to love the whole Bowden family these days.
Posted Thursday September 04, 2008, About: Auburn, 'Bama chasing recruit
Gariboy, now let's just think about what you said "it is naive these days to think many blue chippers would rate playing for a storied program above what they thnk would be their best shot of getting to the riches of the professional level." -- Now I am all for the kid doing whatever he wants, but do you truly think "riches" and the "professional level" are in this kids future at RB when two of the best talent evaluators (Saban and Tubberville) don't even think the kid has enough skill at the position to compete (not start) for their schools? - Once again though go follow your heart kid, and enjoy playing games with Western Kentucky or UAB, we'll probably do just fine without you at Bama.

Nothing remarkable to say here, this guy is simply a bum. He'll spontaneously combust in the Apple.
Posted Thursday June 19, 2008, About: Tech losing recruit to Duke?
When you start losing recruits to Duke, and it's not in basketball, I think the writing is on the wall.... Good news though Tech fans, you'll still be the only school from a major conference running the Triple Option on EVERY play.
Posted Monday April 07, 2008, About: Top receiver commits to Vols
No QB, questionable OL, Arian Foster will be gone (top RB)... Yep, seems like a perfect fit for this young man. And with his size he'll be just great in the physical SEC! Boy I really hate we got "stuck" with 6'3 220lb Julio Jones, it would have been much better to get ole brick hands noted above. -- In serious talk though, I am sure the kid will be a beast of a special teams player, but nothing more then a slot receiver on O. -- Don't expect too much.
Posted Monday April 07, 2008, About: Another Golic commits to Irish
Yawn.... Another "Name" recruit who will sit the pine for two years, and then help the Irish to another 6-6 season, and a bowl blow out loss. Congrats!

Big deal...
Posted Friday April 04, 2008, About: Bengals' Henry 'one man crime wave'?
How many chances can a guy get before finally everyone just turns their back on this knucklehead. -- Furthermore, what is it about all these former WVU football players not being able to stay out of trouble. I mean first you've got Adam "Make It Rain" Jones (pacman), of course Chris Henry who is just ridiculous, and soon to come Noel Devine, who already has a rap sheet a mile long. -- Many schools get tons of bad pub for recruiting "thugs" (FSU, Miami, Etc), but maybe we should take a closer look at the character of players WVU goes after.
Posted Monday March 17, 2008, About: QB battle brewing at Vandy
I don't recall saying he (Larry Smith) would lead them to the promise land. I do however recall saying that he would "improve" their offense, which is a statement I will stand by. You're right you never can tell what is going to happen, but Schaeffer had his chance and did nothing with it. I guess at this point I am just questioning which part of my post you felt was inaccurate?
Posted Friday March 14, 2008, About: QB battle brewing at Vandy
OK guys, now I know you probably have never even seen a Vandy game in your lives, but as someone who actually watches football teams before commenting on them, they really are a team on the rise. Not saying they will win an SEC title anytime soon, but they have a very young, stout defense, and if Larry Smith wins the QB battle they are going to improve dramatically on offense (even with the loss of the number one WR). Larry only lost two games in his 40+ games as a starter in high school, is a very mobile and accurate QB, a great leader, and to boot is one of the smartest guys you could be around (which is why he chose Vandy and not a bigger SEC school). --
Now Hova, not that it had any bearing on this topic, but do you really think that Schaeffer 's career would have ended better by being the number 3 QB at Florida and never seeing the field? That kid was never as advertised, never really improved, and never was going to be a consistant starter on any team.Trust me, any coach in America would have played Ainge over Schaeffer.
Posted Friday March 14, 2008, About: Big interest for Georgia QB
OK now that we have covered the fact that UGA isn't too interested in the kid, for whatever reason you may want to bring to the table, how about talking about what teams could use him. I am a huge Bama fan, but we're going to be pretty well taken care of for a while with Star Jackson, so of the teams listed I would say no one needs a big time QB more the South Carolina.

Well if you are talking about world class speed then yeah, I guess, I am with you, but Dewayne Jarrett (4.5 fourty), Steve Smith (4.39 fourty), etc... all had better then average speed (at a college level at least)....Jarrett was a beast too! ---

P.S-- Look it up!
Posted Monday January 21, 2008, About: Top recruit adds LSU to list
The best point I could make about this kid, and all the hype surrounding him would be this... Ever heard of Jimmy Clausen? How's that going.
Posted Monday January 21, 2008, About: Top recruit adds LSU to list
xxx84xxx --
I can not, or would not, call you whitty, however I will call you a dumba$$ . -- Who was even saying anything about Alabama being good or not? I think I was simply stating facts, and if that's too much for yourself to accept then I apologize.
Posted Thursday January 17, 2008, About: Longhorns may hire Applewhite
Maomatt---
Now I am not a Major Applewhite defender, especially after he has just left my beloved Tide, but I've just got to correct you on something. Do you really think Alabama, home of the greatest traditional powerhouse, would let this guy come in and cut his teeth with our team? He had already been the OC at Rice, and actually had a top five scoring offense with them (42+ points a game), so I am pretty sure he is "ready" to be an offensive coordinator. I think it more so goes back to EastCoast's point, which is that Major Applewhite is highly revered amoung UT fans, and the writting is now on the wall for him to be the next HC of the Longhorns. The kid is super sharp, and will be a GREAT coach for many years to come.

Local boy--
I actually did realize that they were just the "Warriors" now, but I still think that the Rainbow is more fitting for the style of football ya'll play in the islands. -- Anyway, back to Norm -- I agree with tidebuzz, maybe we should bring Norm to T-town... we're loaded with young skill players, and a deep line is coming back, so maybe Norm could help us do more then kick field goals everytime we're in the red zone.
Posted Thursday January 17, 2008, About: Top recruit adds LSU to list
This kid is so full of himself, and such a hype machine, that I REALLY hopes he does come down here to the SEC. Let him come to a place where real athletes play every Saturday, and let him get a taste of sitting the bench. I think Pryor will find out real quick that Ryan Perrioulx (or however you spell it), is everybit the athlete he is, and that getting hit in the mouth on every play isn't that much fun. -- If he does go to the buckeyes then he should still get ready for an old fashion SEC beating at some point in time... I mean what are they now, 0-9 against the SEC... BIG TEN=BIG JOKE
Posted Thursday January 17, 2008, About: Braves, Rays talking trade
If this trade will include Evan Longoria, 3B for Montgomery Biscuits (Rays), then I would be all for it. That dude is a beast, with old school power, and a cannon for an arm. -- The Rays farm system is loaded right now, with their AA team winning the last two Southern League Championships, and the Braves could use a little spark, so hopefully something good comes from this.

Norm Chow is a great COLLEGE Offensive Coordinator, but that's about it. His style of offense requires having superior speed on the offensive side of the ball, and unfortunately he learned that you don't get that sort of advantage in the NFL. As for the Hawaii job, I am afraid that one's off the table now, sorry Rainbows.

Mac you are obviously quite an educated individual now aren't you. I truly love your assessment of who college is for, because surely most institutions are meant for those who are short, slow, poor athletes, non combative, and uninspired. Wow I can't believe more people haven't caught on to this "science" that you've just dropped on us. Thanks Professor, I've become more enlightened.
